Maria died, but he had to get back into "kick ass mode" in order to not die at the time. Once the adrenaline wore off, then came the beard and the mourning.
I like to think he's pissed off at not being able to find any razors. Explains the beard.
On a serious note and bringing it back to raping......... Alright, that sounds nasty but anyway; Are they actually referred to as rape-farms or is that a name readers have given it?

Why? do you want to buy some admission tickets?
What? Its a legitimate question, I don't see the problem here. :?
i just want to know if the comic/books/whatever called it that.
I thought once TV shows, games, and movies were released discussion on any part of it was fair game. Ain't being snide or anything, I just wanna make sure I'm not...

They're called "Birthing Creches" or "Breeder Farms" but they're still rape farms.
The Fortification Act specifically states that all women that can bear children will be put onto these farms and forced to breed. Apparently they even gave hormones to children as young as ten in order to start them breeding.
However, I'm getting conflicting reports on the extent of the program. Some places say it was all women that were forced to go, others say it was only some women who were forced.
Everybody complains about the breeding farms but nobody acknowledges that later in the same comic ark after the facility was abandoned due to locust attacks there are stranded females that that fight and protect their children.:?

These are the same folk who annihilated the surface of Sera, and it's inhabitants, to deny locust control of resources. Honestly I kinda expect shit like that at this point.

Damn. That would explain why it isn't in any of the games
I get the notion that breeding is vital, the humans are on the verge of extinction and there needs to be another generation coming....... But they're on the verge of extinction from fucking monsters. Surely the safest thing to do would be kill those guys before making the babies?

So how do they decide... through like interviews and stuff?
Man- "Ok ma'am this interview will determine if your what we're looking for in our breeders."
Woman- "Wait... breeder... what? Are you talking about one of those rape farms!?"
Man- "No like a breeding farm... with rape. Ok first question, whats your favorite color?"
Woman- "Blue. NO WAIT YELLOW!"
Man- "RAPE HER!"

Pretty much my thinking on the subject. It's unfeasible to have every women constantly popping out kids. Might as well let the ones willing to fight go to boot camp and become soldiers.
EDIT: Probably a lot of factors: Age, family history, general genetic screenings, mental state. Possibly marital status.
Also, keep in mind that some women volunteer for this, as you get increased rations and at least the impression that you're "god damned important" and worth protecting.
'course putting the future of your race into concentrated locations pretty much screams "ATTACK HERE" so as important as you've been lead to believe you are, you're probably still fucked. (Figuratively.. though I guess literally too.)

While it may be overkill to still spoiler what you mentioned, it's common courtesy.
And as for your second question, that's entirely wrong. How often would you run into a spoiler before something is released on these forums? I'm sure you see a helluva lot more spoilers than that.
You spoiler anything that might ruin the movie/show/game for someone who has yet to complete the part to which you are referring.

Wait one second... something was lost in translation here. I get the common courtesy part, thats what I figured.
But what the hell do you mean by the second part? When an episode of, say, Chuck comes out (in all time zones), you are free to discuss what happened in that episode without using spoil tags. Thats all I was saying.
And with your last line there... well if that was true... pretty much every thread dedicated to a game, movie, or tv show would be 95% spoiler tags. And that contradicts you earlier statement that the spoiler tags for
maria's death
were overkill.

I don't think we need spoiler tags for a game that has been out for over a year now guys. For new information in Gears of War 3 that might spoil new story elements of course, but for the first two?
Also, anyone who enters a thread about an upcoming game should be wary of spoilers from the prior titles.
It should just be common sense really. You can rent like, both games from the local video store here in NZ for $8 NZ for a week. Anyone can easily get their hands on the first two for cheap if they are interested in a third (and why is anyone interested in the third game if they hated the first two anyway?).

Well, if you enter a thread about Chuck, you're going to have the show spoiled for you. When you enter a thread for Assassin's Creed 2, for example, you're going to see a lot of spoiler tags. There is a difference between TV shows and video games, maybe because the former comes out every week.
In regards to video games, even if a game has been released, that doesn't mean you're free to ruin the plot for people who might not have finished it.
The reason the spoiler tags for Gears2 are overkill is because the game is extremely old, and people generally shouldn't be upset that a plot point was revealed. Some people still spoiler those things out of courtesy though.
When it comes to newer games though, it's more than common courtesy. I've seen infractions for spoiling plot points in newer video games.

Apparently when you jump over a barrier now and there's an enemy in the way, you'll kick them on your way over. (I'm guessing it does damage/stun like a melee attack)
Glad to see they've finally got some female Gears.
My litte Bro said she's one of the Carmine siblings, confirm/deny? Also what's with the lack of Baird? He was clearly the best.
Baird's there, right beside Cole.
And that is clearly Anya.
Also confirmed as much in the OP
So my roommate's got 2 weeks off, and I'm unemployed at the moment. I managed to convince him to finish the first one and go through #2 (which I bought the GotY version of). So now I can get all my co-op achievements.

this will be interesting in close-quarter multiplayer
So j0shg0tr0 and I are about to run through co-op Gears 2, and I thought it might be worth grabbing Road to Ruin just as a bit of fresh content as I've played that campaign to death. Looking on the marketplace, though, it looks like it's only available as part of a larger map pack - either Dark Corners or the giant All Fronts. Is there really no way I can plonk down 600 points or so and get just the campaign content?
EDIT: It's definitely Anya. Cliff's said so.

The content is more of a freebie. It's only 15 minutes long.
EDIT: Plus it's not integrated into the campaign at all. "Deleted Scene" is an apt descriptor for it.

What about a giant amoeba?
Of course that would probably be about the size of a penny, so...
You never saw Evolution, did you?

I'd be down with that, but I'm at work/on commute for the next 4 hours, and then I have to be up in eight hours.
Hmm, I just remembered I never got the Dom achievements for Gears2. Need to force my roommate to play it with me.
That's 2:00am for me.
Guess I'll ask another time.
