Apparently the next stream will be next Friday and will discuss how to acquire the chrome versions of the weapons and which maps will be shipped with the game among other things.
Gears 3 maps revealed. 10 maps, with only one oldie (gridlock) returning. I'm betting there will be a "Flashback 2.0" mappack released at some point.. probably with, or alongside the rumored RAAM/Kim/Skorge/Tai character pack.

Cool. I was actually worried they'd go full nostalgia, this being the last game, and forgo new maps for old. Good to hear. (And I love Gridlock, so win win! )
So wasn't 3 supposed to have more maps at launch then 2? As it stands now it will have the same , not to mention we have already played almost half of them already and seen pretty much every other map except Drydock and sandbar in e3/gamscon videos. Seems odd.

So I put Gears 2 in to play with a friend the other night, (We had begun playing it again because 3 was coming so what the hell right?) and we had been playing for a good month or so since this other night. So what happens randomly is I get an update for some reason for the game. Then the game loads and gets to the title screen and then freezes when I choose Multiplayer. Load it back up. Freezes at press start screen. Load it back up. Same thing. Needless to say I tried a bunch of shit and nothing worked. What the hell is going on with my Gears?
It isn't the disc. That's perfectly fine. Can use other profiles to play it. Just once mine is selected it will freeze the game. Have deleted the cache. Did not work. I just don't know why this randomly happened to me when I had been playing it fine for a month now. And now I literally can't play the game at all. Other Profiles do work perfectly fine. It's just my profile.
Anyone know what I can do? Also it's funny. The same day this happened to me. One of my other friends got an update and it reset him from rank 90 to 1. He was not happy.

I was doing a full playthrough Co Op with my buddy in preparation for Gears 3.
We got to the part with the Centaur tank, heading to Mount Kadar?
We finally clear DAT OUTPOST, you know the one, with the tower you have to shoot down on the left?
We head into the cave, into the dark... nothing happens.
We drive around the cave for 10 minutes or so, until finally I decide we must have glitched and reset to last checkpoint.
After wiping a few more times, we manage to clear DAT OUTPOST again, and head into the cave.
Nothing happens again.
I youtube a Lets Play and watch this section; a checkpoint is supposed to trigger after going into the cave, then a Corpser destroys a wall.
This is not happening.
I turn the 360 off and on again. The game is installed to HDD, there is no way it's a disk read error.
We, now masters of this battle, crush DAT OUTPOST and head into the cave again.
De nada.
We both declare "fuck this" and watch the entire first season of Breaking Bad while eating chinese food.
10 maps seems small, but considering that I enjoyed most of the maps that were on the Beta, quality beats quantity. Looking forward to what kind of maps they are going to release as DLC.

Late edit- Even better news , the dbs can not down you now unless you have been damaged already. Should remove a great deal of the frustration dealing with the gun . So now its kill or nothing as it should be.

How do you manage the friend list for the account? With a limit of 100, you can only add so many without needing a second account or deleting people who've been inactive for a while.

TL;DR Epic sucks at programing and there's a glitchinvolving splitscreen that can cause your profile to get borked. The only way to fix it is to reset it as far as I know.

That typically happens when the latest Gears2 update gets cleared (back before the let the Xbox store title updates on the HD, they were stored in a special on board memory, but it was small enough that only the four most recently updated games get stored. Since the leveling system was added with Title Update 3, if you lose the most recent update the game won't understand the extra data and it'll lose your ranking.
You can also lose your data by not quitting out to the Gears2 menu before quitting to the dashboard (that one fucked me over awhile back)

Sorry, my hotel didn't have internet access (or didn't have FREE internet access that I could get working) so I didn't see this until just now, otherwise I would have been down with this.
Horde 2.0 was indeed awesome, but my group had the misfortune of getting the fucking Lambent Beserkers as the boss, which the guys running the booth said was the hardest boss in horde mode. Nearly got her but I died trying to clear out the rest of the guys and the other guys couldn't put together a win.

$30 for DLC? That's half the cost of the entire game. Before the game is even released. I think I paid $15 for ALL of the Gears 2 DLC. That was probably a sale several months after it was released, but $30 is more than I am personally willing to pay at this point. Not griping, just sayin'.

Actually, while I'm raging about DLC; how fucking stupid is that whole "DLC to enable online multiplayer" thing? Like Mortal Kombat.
I bought Mortal Kombat new, not preowned. It had 2 codes in the case. Neither one worked, so I am shit out of luck for multiplayer. I am not gonna be paying the extra for a pass. It's £10. Might be worth it. But it's the principle. I'm not paying extra for a key part of the game.
I hope that is a thing that goes away soon.

Wait, do you have to be a Vet BEFORE Gears 3 drops or are you just pushing for day 1 "I want it ALL!" stuff?
By the looks of it, you don't have to get Vet before Gears 3 comes out for you to get the rewards for it. As long as you can get the achievement, you're able to get 'em regardless of if you've already played Gears 3 or not.

I love the Gears franchise and I've enjoyed playing the campaigns very much but I'll be happy to put the storyline behind me when I beat it on the 20th.
Multiplayer had always been meh in gears but I'm pretty sure that Epic actually wants players to play this online for a long time so they're doing it right this time.
I might just stick around and curb stomp some mofos or whatever it is those guys do.
I just beat Gears 1 on the PC on hardcore, so if anyone wants to do coop insane, I'd be down.
The new content felt a bit off, and it definetly needed some polish, but overall it wasn't terrible. The few times I wanted to strangle someone because of how stupid the combat arena was set up I realized if I had used a different tactic it would have been super easy. Ah well.
Brumak fight wasn't as good as I had hoped, but it was definitely one of the best boss fights in a Gears of War game. Was a little easy to tell you the truth.

Better get to it, you need to beat the game first before insanity is unlocked.
Oh yeah, my two biggest complaints with the PC version of Gears 1.
1. The "V-Synch" option DOES NOT WORK. Turn it on or off does nothing, it never works. Annoying as shit for a game that's like four years old now. (Ran like a dream otherwise)
2. They fucked up the sniper rifle. Or they fucked up how helmets work, I'm not sure.
In Gears 1 for the Xbox, a regular sniper shot will kill a helmetless locust and knock the helmet off a helmeted one. A active reload sniper shot will kill a non-boomer locust anywhere you shoot him, including in his helmet.
In Gears 1 for the PC, an active reload will still kill a helmeted locust if shot anywhere on their body EXCEPT the helmet. The helmet will still protect them from a the super shot. It makes it especially annoying dealing with Troika drones as even though in the Xbox version two headshots will get through their super-helmet, I was unable to kill any of the mother fuckers with headshots.
As a sniper rifle whore (my preferred method of playing both Gears 1 and 2) fucking up the sniper rifle is a god damn sin in my book.

I rented it awhile ago and rushed through it on one of the lower difficulties so that's fine.
But I played pretty late so alot of it is just a tired blur. Be good to get a proper playthrough done.
