I just received my copy of P3P (and the hat!) in the mail...and now I face a horrible dilemma. I can't figure out a good name for the female MC! I've come up with Marina for the first name, any suggestions for the second?

I just used my last name. Actually, SMT games have a weird habit of getting me to use my real name. Normally I just use Jurg.
@Blackjack- I'd like to keep this run as clean as possible. I never like to use FAQs my first time through any game, and often, not at all.

Inoue.
Ok I had to google that name. Now I'm wondering was that an insane subconscious choice? Or complete coincidence on my part? o_O Either way, I may just go with that.

Shame, I finally got around to playing Strange Journey (VERY enjoyable) and now I have another SMT game on the list.

The Manikin Block puzzle? For the love of the hades, USE A FAQ.
You do not want to bother.
I remember liking those puzzles...at first.
I liked them for the first 40 minutes. Within the next 30 I started getting angry. Another 20 and I was grinding my teeth. For the last 50 my eyes had rolled back in my head and I was speaking gibberish to try and summon my own demon to make them fucking stop because there just too many of those goddamn puzzles.
you mean the pyro jack mini game right? It's neat....in theory.

I did just enough puzzles to realize I was fucking terrible at them and scampered off to GameFAQs. In my youth I would feel remorse about that sort of thing but I'm employed these days and would like to finish Nocturne within the year

Would you all consider Mara NSFW? Because I'm at him now in SMT2. Tiamat, no question.
Wow, I'm glad I'm not at that point in Nocturne yet. No, I just hit the Mantra demon's turf and felt I was ready to take out the first...whatever that word is in the Amala Labyrinth. I did okay, save for my inability to find that damn key to the vault. Well, okay, the pain-floor room drove me nuts, but at least Main had Tornado at that point.
Here's a dumb question. "Force" is clearly "wind" with powers like that and Wind Buffet. So why call them force in some games and use the Wind/Garu definition in others?

Agreed. The insane amounts of anger and "THIS IS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE WHAT THE FUCK IVE TRIED EVERYTHING!!" were rather funny after a trip to Gamefaqs. And even then I sometimes got lost in what I was being told.

So when should i stop training at Tartarus and wait for the next full moon? I just finished the Arqa block (floor 64 I think), my character is level 25, and the training is starting to get grindy feeling. Should i be good until the next full moon, or should I train some more?

If you can beat the Tartarus bosses and make it to the barricade, you're set for the full moon bosses.

Sweet! I was a little worried cause the last boss of the Arqa block gave me a hard time, but I thought it was just cause I was underleveled, so I got worried. I'm gonna focus on my personal stats then. Thanks!
Edit: I was wondering two things about the S.Links:
Will I ever get to go to that big Kendo Meet that Kaz keeps on talking about? I reached maximum Chariot level with Kaz and was wondering if I could ever actually go to it.
Also, with females, if you reach max S.link level, can you talk to another girl to increase their S.link level, or will the first girl flip out?

I'm guessing they hadn't standardised their spell terminology until P3.

No, there's a difference between Force and Wind. I know it's hard to separate when the Force skills in Nocturne include "Tornado" and so on, but they've always been separate things.

What games have them both? Going into Nocturne after Personas 3 and 4 made me worried. I heard people talking about force, which I assumed was in addition to the four elementals and light/dark, so I imagined there could be tons of others, for earth and water and, I don't know, heart. Then I started playing and while it's weird to occasionally see a characters who's weak to "nerve" or "curses" and barely know what they're talking about, the variety isn't so bad. They even have a single physical trait, just like Persona 4.
Incidentally, I would like to know what that key thing's about in the Amala Labyrinth. I already have been down there twice, and I won't go down a third time to explore the few remaining nooks I missed unless it's worth it. And what's Dr. Dark's deal? I refused his medical treatment because after talking to a few, the souls down there make me nervous.

Nerve and Curse and whatnot are different sub-types of status ailments. Like how in Persona 3, Slash, Pierce and Blunt(?) are different sub-types of physical attacks.

Persona 2 has both Zan and Garu.
Persona 2 has a ridiculously huge amount of elements, actually. Fire, Wind, Ice, Lightning, Water, Earth, Almighty (the 'Force' type), None (What we know as Almighty now), Nuclear, Spiritual, Mental, Holy, Dark, Sword, Strike, Throw, Attack, Shot. Although, really, you only really need to worry about the four basic ones (Fire, Wind, Water, Earth)
Persona 1 is similar.

Dr. Dark, if I recall correctly, will heal you, he's just a jerk about it. There are other ghosts who offer healing, though, and they just want to knock you out and steal your money

and then they hid a Magatama behind a series of sliding block puzzles
which I hate more than anything.
It's like if you played a racing game, but to unlock one of the cars, you had to play a rhythm minigame.
Oh well. I hope that Magatama isn't any good, because I can't beat Stage 8.

I did it. I beat Satan.
In SMT2.
12:00 of pain.
And now there's only one left.
It's when you're not fully maxed, but are in the relationship zone with a girl that things can get awkward.
Satan was much, MUCH harder than YHVH.
The videos will take a while to upload.
I took the Amane route and even though I beat both of them on my second try the
Though I was getting to used to just steamrolling through missions.

SMTII's final battle. Half of it anyway.
His attack animations freak me out.
i think it's kind of a bummer that SMT's last portrayal of YHVH was a giant floating yellow head
i want to see what they'll show him as with better technology
