Just got back from my LCS and read the issue. Having never read any of that character's books, I find myself not really caring about the reveal.
I'm more interested in what will be come of Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Firestorm, and the Hawks. The elementals idea seems pretty cool to me, to distill a hero down to a core element. This is one of those situations where I think some interesting stories could be told before they restore the status quo, but I have a feeling that it will be restored much too soon.

I'm not sure I'd call it nostalgia.
I thought all the good Swamp Thing stories took place after it was established that the character wasn't really Alec Holland.

Also, what's that "Return of the Blue Beetle" crap? Ted's had more cameos following his death than any other character.

Yeah. Holland & Swamp Thing are definitely separate; Swamp Thing is currently a raging black lantern entity. It seems like they're going to work to put them together again? It's a little confusing.

Does Firestorm as a fire elemental really make sense, though? Isn't it just in his name and chosen costume? As The Nuclear Man, isn't he really just about all elements?

About as much as J'onn being an earth elemental or the hawks being air elementals (they fly, but they're not *made* of wind). I think it might have more to do with empathy then an actual power connection - Firestorm contains huge amounts of energy, J'onn has devoted himself to caring for the Earth, and the Hawks and Aquaman spend a lot of time moving through air and water respectively, so there's natural instincts at work there...

I think it's a cool twist - was starting to wonder if they were coming back at all, honestly. This is certainly a unique resurrection.

From what I've read... at one point Firestorm was turned into a Fire Elemental during his series. so this is really nothing new for him, and kind of an established plot point.

The Source announced "War of the Green Lanterns: Aftermath" which is apparently a 2-part mini written by Tony Bedard that wraps up the War by looking at the Corps in a way that Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors aren't able to!

Only slightly joking there, i will buy more green lantern comics, of course

That would be either Hal or John Stewart's ring wouldn't it?

Kyle and Guys look different (the big symbol only on the band, not the inset symbol in the circle)

Yeah, I think it might be Hal or John because Guy and Kyle both have the rectangular lantern symbol rings that runs parallel to the finger (or at least during Gleason's GLC run).

That's all true, but it could also just be a more symbolic ring.

Also the Source then posted this, an updated solicit for the Brightest Day Aftermath mini
    thesearch_sw_cv2.jpg

so... they don't join swamp thing and holland together at the end of #24?

Swamp Thing becomes a rebellious teenager heading to a WTO protest, Green Arrow is conflicted whether to stop him or join him.

What are the chances they pull a '90s Spectre and possibly give him another host, like Ted or Deadman or Ralph?

throwing out a guess about war of the green lanterns...
with the four earth GLs now unable to use their rings, they turn to the only alternative: the rings of the new guardians that hal rescued. hal takes yellow, guy takes red, kyle takes blue, and john takes... either indigo or orange i guess. probably indigo. that plot twist would help explain why we haven't seen any covers for the next few months and the next GLs cover has a blacked out Sinestro Corps member (Hal)

Man I am a bit tired of these reveals in Green Lantern.

Like, it keeps being like "[Famous Character] has returned!" as though it's a big deal, then they don't really get used for anything but setting up the next event, and I keep not knowing much of anything about them.

    Brightest Day Aftermath, eh?

Wasn't Brightest Day supposed to be the aftermath of Blackest Night? Now the aftermath has an aftermath?

"Can't let the premise go to waste here, kids- let's kick the horse 'til it's dead!"

What happens after they find Swamp Thing?
