I read this as x-com romance.
Imagine if it was a tournament fighter.

Imagine going on a blind date and you see this Lobsterman in the restaurant looking all hopeful and you're all like, Nuh-uh! and just hit up the bar instead but the next day you get a call and find out your date wasn't the Lobsterman but it was actually the cute guy the Lobsterman was tearing in two and his parents want you to speak at his funeral I mean wouldn't your face be red?

No, that's a regular day at X-Com HQ.

I know terror missions were meant to be all about saving civilians but in X-COM:UFO Defense I was just setting up firing lines behind cover and letting the bastards come to me. And if in doubt, use the rocket launcher. Buildings were routinely leveled by explosives.
Eventually this tactic was updated.
I used the Blaster Launcher instead.
I ain't fucking around bro.

You've got to think that the folks at Marin are pissed off. I mean, now all their title is is a massive anchor around their neck. Noone buying their game because of the XCOM assosciation will do so now, they'll all wait for the real XCOM.

Yeah, I'm a lot lessed pissed about this stupid FPS crapfest now that I know a good company is at least doing a good X-Com game :P I still think the FPS will suck though
Oddly enough, this will increase the odds I buy the FPS. Especially if they tie it in together. Now all the FPS has to do is be decent and I will try it out. Before I was on full boycott this shit mode.

Honestly, this news needs its own thread. Maybe not this moment, but eventually. I only heard this news thanks to SE++.
... And I immediately shared it with my entire tech department at work.
Guys can you confirm me that there are 2 XCOM games on the way?
I'm a little confused.
I had to read that article twice to make sure I understood it. The company making the X-Com FPS shooter is still doing that. Firaxis got the rights to develop a turn-based tactical/strategy version of X-Com, a true successor to the original.

This is happening, people.
I made the same comment on the VG Industry thread, but it seems the FPS Syndicate and XCOM games were made to introduce people to the franchises. Paradox' Cartel is more like a spirtual successor to Bullfrog's Syndicate.

Lobsterman wins all hand to hand battles.
I will write them, don't you dare test me.
And yeah MrVyngaard beat me to it: that implies there are hand-to-hand fights vs Lobstermen.

Well, there are knife fights. You can win a knife fight with a Lobsterman.
Why I fear the ocean.
Not much info other than Game Informer's cover image and that it's coming to PC, 360, and PS3 this fall.
YAY!
Fool me twice, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth times. Shame on me.
I'm not holding my breath, not at all, nope.
*turns blue*
well, there goes my life.
Or... Firaxis will completely ignore any and everything Marin has done.

I'm even willing to bet the FPS will sell more copies.
It might even be fun.
Sometime this fall, so sayeth the article.

Fuck yeah, the project is in good hands with Sid Meier.
There are. One is an FPS by 2K Marin, the other is a proper X-COM game done by Firaxis.

Also using April Fools to tease about new X-Com games is a low blow.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
