    it's absolutely dumbfounding the sheer amount of people who have died in earthquakes this year

    The quake struck along the Longmenshan fault, which runs beneath the mountains that divide the Tibetan plateau to the west and the Sichuan plane to the east. A magnitude-7.9 quake on the fault's eastern edge two years ago left almost 90,000 people dead or missing in Sichuan. Poor design, shoddy construction and the lax enforcement of building codes were found to be rampant.

    The parents of children killed in schools that were poorly constructed are still in legal battles (ie: they are mad and tried to sue but the government keeps strong arming them) over this quake.

    I'm actually terrified now. I know how Joss Whedon writes. I've seen his shows and movies. I've read some of his run on Astonishing X-Men. He can write the X-Men. He cannot write the Avengers.

    I think he's just directing, in which case it might be okay.

    But Whedon is like a superior model of Brian Michael Bendis. He does everything Bendis does well even better, but he fails at the same things Bendis fails at. And Bendis cannot write the Avengers either.

    he's directing. I don't know who's writing, but if you have Whedon directing I can't see the producers not letting him work with the script. I mean, they got him because they like his style.

    I read somewhere yesterday that there are about three earthquakes every minute? Don't know if that's true, it was surrounded by other facts.. like the Earth gets struck by lightening 360 times every minute, and so many people are born and die every minute..


    edit: just to clarify, in the first sentence I'm totally asking you guys something about my life. God.. I hate that upper inflection shit, I even think like that?

    I just hope he doesn't try to Whedon-ize the damn movie. He's not dealing with his fucking action-girl snarky-guy brooding-guy troupe, he's going to be directing fucking Iron Man and Thor and motherfucking Captain America. There ought to be a certain level of respect in the movie's presentation that I'm not sure Whedon is capable of.

    I just don't want the Avengers movie to be fucked up. With the cast that's coming together, it has the potential to be the most amazing experience I've had at the movies since I went to the midnight showing of Return of the King.
