    Saw them at SXSW too

my friend just saw them today, but by saw i mean talked to them

I talked to the singer after they played. He's pretty cool, and a really smart guy.

I miss Saetia, his old band.

Yeah, they played their first 21+ show today, my friend showed up but he's 20 and they wouldn't let them in, so he talked to Billy Saetia and crew outside and they were nice and gave him all their cds for free.

I went and saw them at a small show like 5 years ago. They were rad. They've come to town a lot since then but everytime they've come around since I've not been able to go for one reason or another.

I don't think they've ever been to Australia but there's this Give it a Name festival going on in Europe right now, and when that ends alot of those bands begin Australian tours (Announced thus far being: Brand New, New Found Glory, Senses Fail, The Used, Alexisonfire, Saosin, Fightstar) and mewithoutYou are a part of said tour so I have high hopes as I only give a shit about 2 of the bands during Australia as a result of that festival (Alexisonfire and Saosin).

Explosions in the Sky are coming out here August-ish according to them. If they do a place before August 18th that's under 18s or after August 18th anywhere I'd buy tickets no questions asked.

    Upcoming gigs:
April 16th - Red Hot Chili Peppers, Har Mar Superstar, Fabrizio Moretti
April 29th - Lamb of God
May 9th - Nine Inch Nails
May 12th - Groovin' the Moo (Silverchair, Midnight Juggernauts, The Presets, The Black Keys)
    May 13th - Saosin
    May 26th - Alexisonfire
    August 4th - Bloc Party

Not much class yet but it's definately a good time to live in Australia, saw The Mars Volta last Thursday, met Marcel, Juan and Tom aswell as being front row centre. Best night of my life, and a few week prior I met Henry Rollins and Ian MacKaye.

2 of my best friends went and saw Explosions in the Sky in New Orleans a week or so ago, they said the band was rad but everyone there was just dumb. Mostly just people standing around talking and going on while the band basically played background music for them.

So yeah, they went to listen to the band and instead had to deal with that.

It's the same way with most instrumental bands nowadays.

Especially since instrumental and "post-rock" must is all the rage.

I know I do. They're Melbourne and are one of my favourite bands. Not much intrumental rock comes out here. I've seen Sigur Ros and Mogwai but they were both at festivals, and Isis with Laura (Laura a few times on their own).

I'm not going to but man I am so envious, I'd love to have all their CDs

I still don't know why you called him Billy Saetia though, that's silly

And yeah, before Hot Cross played, some band called The Devil Wears Prada played and all the little hardcore kids watched and at the end, the singer was like, "And remember Jesus loves you all, you can come talk to us about it at our table." And then Hot Cross started setting up and all the little kiddies left and HC didn't get the appreciation they deserve.

Yeah, I don't think a lot of bands can afford to go to australia on a shoe string. And most instrumental bands these days are on a shoe string.

Did you see Isis and Laura in Melbourne? I was at that gig. The best part was when the power failed onstage at the end of These Arms Are Snakes and Isis got cut short by a half hour. Laura were amazing but me and everyone I went with couldn't hear properly for about 2 weeks afterwards.

I was at the Sydney show, I had to pull some strings to get in not being 18 and all, I didn't know clubs were so anal about this shit.
