Shit. Somehow I pissed off Okawaru and now he's angry. He sent a titan, a cyclops, and other shit to wreck me. I blinked and teleported but is this gonna keep happening?
I just tried Desktop Dungeons for the first time, and I don't really get it.
Everything is frozen into place, and nothing moves... and you only replenish energy by uncovering new tiles... and you can only fight enemies lower level than you... so... it's a puzzle game?
What happens when there are no new tiles to uncover and all the remaining monsters are higher level than you?
Dunno where you go that idea. One of the primary tactics is killing higher level stuff because you get an exp boost. It is more a puzzle game than a roguelike though.

To be fair, your first few games it's pretty damn hard to kill something more than a level or two above you, because of the way the beginner classes work and how you have no rewards (glyphs or otherwise) from finishing challenge dungeons or advanced classes.

You probably attacked an ally. He'll eventually calm down. I forget if gaining piety offsets penance or not, or if you just HAVE to go through X number of "fuck yous" before he stops.
So I'd have to say the amulet of guardian spirit is a godsend for casters. Sure, it sucks getting your mana blasted right out of you, but if you think about it, you'd likely be dead otherwise. Coupled with being a spriggan, I can usually run away if something does happen to blow through all my mana real fast. I just wish I could find a staff of energy, I'd really be able to tear things up since Sif Muna is just spitting books all over me at this point. And then the ones I keep finding in the dungeon.
I'd certainly have to play an entirely different way I think if I didn't have that amulet O.o Electric eels have pointed out that fact to me!
Hey, how do you get that character history dump, red?
Go to the game folder, go into the mourge folder, open up your character's mourge file with notepad and copy it from there.

Elona counts as a roguelike, right? yeah it totally does. I just found this sweet scythe that does fire damage and decapitations, but has a chance to start a fire every time you kill an enemy, so I always end up barely avoiding burning to death as a dungeon fills with fire and walls explode.
Lord god almighty! At the end of a Minotaur's Maze I found in the Lair (!), I found TWO Tomes of Destruction (D:), a +5 Ring of Intelligence, a Staff of Ice and a Staff of Earth, as well as another two less useful spellbooks.
Just for giggles I went in, flashed on Wizard mode, punched in the Get Mutation button, and just held down "Repeat Last Action" for a minute or so.
90+ AC, 10 ev, STR > INT > DEX, unplayable due to infinitely spammed teleports and blinks, couldnt wear ANYTHING, and about ten steps in deteriorated into stat death.
Whelp, best run ever, level 9 Kenku Hunter. Reached a fucked up level where everything was open. It seems my hunters always die when I run out of arrows and need to start stabbing people.

Do as much stabbing early on as possible. Save arrows for Nasty Things (like, hobgoblins with clubs at level 1...)

I've been playing some Arcane Marksmen recently, and it definitely seems like the key to early survival is just putting the bow away for a bit and building up melee ability. Arrows just don't last long enough to be your main form of attack starting out.
I have actually gotten a character to the point of securing one rune from the Swamp! Only other character that got that close was a troll berserker who ended up killing herself. (A unique named Mara summons an exact duplicate of you to wreck your face. Oh and clones himself too. Turns out berserk doesn't solve every problem!)
I really doubt I'll be able to win with this character though, as I have gotten jack and squat for decent intrinsics/equipment through the whole game (had to do Hives, Swamp and Lair with no poison resist), but I at least am drowning in spellbooks! And I seem to be running out of safe places to get some decent gear

Bitch killed my last/best mountian dwarf berserker
Bah, found a minotaur labyrinth for the first time, and all I got was artefact sling, artefact holy flail (already have a blessed blade), and a cursed -5 int cloak (my guy only has 8 int so that was a close call).
Xom you lovely bastard. As a white dragon, he gives me green scales and flame breath. What a clown that guy. This is ignoring his clarity mutation, I'm shocked at how nice he is being.
Man im trying to play a mountain dwarf fighter, but everytime I get to level 2 I keep getting wrecked by Ijryb the goblin, or one of two named wizards who like to go invisible.
If you can't tell what your aptitudes are, how do you properly play a Draconian?
They show your aptitudes after you get your colour at level 7 (Iirc you could abuse checking your aptitudes to get an idea of what colour you'd be which kills the surprise I suppose). For the most part Draconians aren't really bad at any one combat skill except for Armour which is 200.
Knowing your colour is only really important for magic usage. Most of the time you shouldn't be getting a detrimental colour (Red Draoncian Ice Elementalist or what not). It doesn't take that long to get to level 7 either.
I've gotten Purple a lot lately which is a good mix for my mages.
That's interesting, whenever a weapon glows red it becomes cursed right?
My merfolk chaos knight cursed his +2/+2 trident when i was going through scrolls, then I hit another your trident flashes red, and it went from it's cursed +2 cursed state, to a +2/+3 uncursed state. To be expected?

That's a Weapon Enchant II scroll. They uncurse a weapon if they're cursed along with their usual enchantment.
Stone Soup: Is there a way to set my own Annotations and Exclusions? I have a dream of setting up a very long path from D9 to D1, so I can just use the ctrl-g Goto menu to go up and down, in lieu of resting for 15,000,000 turns on D1.
Having a hell of a time with mummy necromancers. The inability to scum in various floors really, really hurts mummies more than any other race. Really guys, Mummies are DESIGNED to be played that way, that's why all their EXP other than Necromancy and Fighting are 150+ percent -- they level hella slow because you're supposed to play hella slow.
Ah well. Going to try wizard instead of necromancer. Maybe M-cloud will save me.
Ha! Cleared the normal dungeon with all classes, and done a successful run of the snake pit with an elf wizard. The Crypt is kicking my arse though, fucking vampires.

And is summon scorpion any good?
Sure, you're stealthy and dodgy, but good luck killing any tough mobs in melee!
But never renounce a dark chaos god

Had the old "1 Hp left, drink random potion" chestnut
and out of Heal, Heal Wounds and Slow no prizes for guessing which one I drank?

plus being able to weild a shield and throw objects is a great help too.

Yes. +5. I don't know whether it's one or both stats, for weapons.

Just damage, which is the only one that can be corroded. The second number, I think.
I made a game, it has penguins in it. It's pay what you like on Gumroad.
Currently Ebaying Nothing at all but I might do in the future.
