    God damnit.

You didn't miss much outside of a badly played demo of the first couple levels and annoying people doing commentary. It is supposed to be up for viewing later today but homestly I wouldn't beat yourself up about not seeing it .... ever. It really wasn't good outside of throat chop take downs and cover takedowns which are nice.

Don't be, simulacrum. There's really no upside. It's an outdated version of the game being played poorly over an oversaturated stream with obnoxious commentary.

Some of the best games are some of the buggiest. It'd be nice if it was all perfect, but who gives a shit. Well, many I suppose. But not me.
The majority of my favorite games are buggy pieces of shit. I posit that this is because people who are capable of finishing things are boring.

I just watched it and all I have to say is, it is everything I expected, and I'll be having a fantastic time with it.

Idiots being paid to perform that clown circus they call a preview didn't even phase me one bit.

Those videos however, are a fantastic showcase of not only the competence of the average gamer, but also the average reviewer.

I felt sorry for the viewers. One of the questions she read was someone asking the dude playing if the pistol was ineffective.

It is not apparent to everyone that the previewer is ineffective. That was just sad.

Well, it kinda depends HOW it's silenced. If it's a silencer, then yeah, they are fucking idiots.

    If it's subsonic ammunition though...

Also continuously ejecting rounds because you have to cock the gun for dramatic effect. Or every time you switch weapons, as the medium demands.

This is probably a balance reason more than anything else since pure damage is supposed to be soldier's niche. If it makes you feel any better that changes later on in the game.
Enemies do react to noise and gunfire. Silencers are available for the pistol, but you deal less damage while they're equipped (at least with the less-expensive silencers).

Yeah just pretend that the guns have to use subsonic ammo too, which is fairly realistic (although good luck finding subsonic ammo that's not .22 or .45).

I mean, ignorance is one thing sure. But I imagine it's done for game balance. I am terrible at COD4, but the silencer + UAV jammer perks make me infinitely better simply because no one can find me. If silenced weapons did as much damage as normal ones, there'd be no reason not to silence them.

Video game characters don't have to worry about real world considerations like "where do I put this pistol that just doubled in size?"

Oh, I'm fine with silencer needing some sort of downside for game balance, but the problem is that games never implement the element where the downside would come into play: heat. Firing a pistol with a suppressor wouldn't matter much since they fire so slowly, but firing an SMG with a suppressor is going to make that gun HOT. Plus the weapon becomes more cumbersome and more delicate (suppressors aren't a nice, solid chunk of machined steel like a barrel).

Honestly, all it would take is something like "adding a suppressor requires lowering the fire rate to deal with additional heat" and voila, an explanation that actually makes some sense other than devs having no clue that a suppressor doesn't reduce bullet damage.

It's not a gamebreaking thing to me at all, it's just annoying to see how so many people can have such a poor grasp of something which is a major focus of tons and tons of games. Firearms, I mean, not suppressors.

Well, let's see. I guess a headshot is still a headshot, so if you have a silenced gun you are probably trying to be stealthy about it anyway.
