They'll either have a box on the shelf which you can then pay for and receive a preorder receipt, or yeah, go up to Customer Service and ask. Or even easier, just do it online and choose in-store pickup. Walk in on release day and pick it up.
And man have you missed out on a lot of multiplayer experiences. No matter, getting into it now is better than never :P
Yeah there was totally a white kiosk that actually served a purpose other than to attract the attention of kids and moms. Neat. Didn't realize about the online-in-store pick up option. Another opportunity to be lazy WASTED!
I've played plenty of multiplayer with my friends like tons of Halo 1, etc., I was just never into playing against strangers and dying a lot. I used to play platformers, weird Japanese games and RPGs exclusively and only in the last couple years have I branched out to enjoying shooters more.
As I lose more free time the more appealing games I can play in short bursts with my old buddies become.
I'm one of the few people who are glad games are only 8-12 hours now a days.
Of course I say that now but I can't wait to waste away with Diablo 3, play through Deus Ex HR multiple times and complete Mass Effect 3 at least once (finish Donald Shepherd's story!) this year alone.

Just pre-ordered this for PC on Direct2Drive thanks to the 25% off this weekend. If I could get a invite to the Steam group (steamid: sjchszeppelin) that'd be great!
Hey Maddoc, wasn't SMART on the left bumper or left trigger? People in here were saying that they thought Y was going to be jump, but my hazy PAX memories say SMART was on the upper left and A was jump, like most console FPSs.
As soon as people started talking about it, I was trying to remember, but I realized I couldn't.
Pretty sure it wasn't a face button though, so you're probably right.
It doesn't help that I played it early Friday, so it's not too fresh in my mind what with all of the rest of the con afterward.

I am totally in for 360. I do not promise to always be sober, but it'll always be interesting. Gamertag's TheMegaTrevor.
I don't want to live in a world without drunk team mates.
Every team needs at least one, it's an important role. A team should also have one of your stereotypical "high guys" to balance things out and....ya know.....

I don't mind the idea of people dropping to incap in this game.
It's just another opportunity to lower the minigun barrel and force feed them enough lead to shield a reactor with.

I've been tossing up what kind of appearance I want my dude to have based on the outfits we've seen, I'm quite excited for some future-ninja shenanigans.
(I'm away from my computer right now, but'll go through the thread in about a week inviting everyone who hasn't gotten in. Should be anyone can invite, yell if that's set wrong.)

I made sure that each faction would have different weapon sounds even if they were using a re-skinned version of the same weapon. Each faction's weapons are designed as different timbres (kind of like voices in a choir). This means that when you hear lots of weapons being fired at the same time in the game, your chances of it sounding harmonious are greatly increased.
There's a good bunch of games (including ET and ETQW) that have different sounds based on if you hit someone. A body shot and a headshot sound different, f'rinstance.
It's really nice feedback to get when you're shooting.
It comes in 2 flavours, but they're both for the same purpose: whenever you get a hit (and do damage) a tone is played. In the more advanced flavour the tone changes, becoming deeper, the more damage your hit does. It makes certain weapons more pleasant to use, and with experience you can judge how well you're doing even with hitscan weapons (and it's a boon for long ranged shots without zoom).
They also added special blood trails (changed to sparks in the new, free, online version) that helped you track targets with fast-firing hitscan weapons. And it's very satisfying.
I know Brink is mostly hitscan, but there are still times where you'd be firing at targets you can't see or hear.
Which is another point. That game I used to play pioneered sound engineering for multiplayer modes. One of the greatest things they did was to give every character model distinct damage grunts so you can always tell how hurt your opponent is even though you can't see their health bar. Brink has enemy health bars? Whatever, it's still a really nice feature.

If by "Youtube All Stars" you mean everybody, then yes.
And why would I want some annoying ass sound saying I hit someone when a subtle little x in the center of the screen does the same, and I don't have to have the game turned up?
You can have both in a game... TF2 lets you turn on hitsounds (the default ones are a bit shrill though) and/or numerical visual indicators that pop up above the person you're hitting. And in the most recent iteration of that other game, your crosshair (edit: optionally) changes color on each hit, along with the little tone.
Damage tones are most useful when using indirect weapons or at long ranges without zoom. I know Crysis 2 has distinct sounds for damage and headshots, but they don't stand out very well for me.
But in a game so full of hitscan weapons (and can you see the health of the guy you're shooting?) maybe it won't be an issue.
Only when you kill them. Which leads to much raging in BLOPS because lolololol last stand invincible frames. Which isn't a problem if you have half a brain and don't stop shooting until you see +100.

Are you sure? I remember on the videos you got xp for each individual hit.

I think he meant in Brink, where enemies have numbers for blood.

Someone else already mentioned TF2 hitsounds.
What they didn't mention was that you can use your OWN sounds. Find something annoying? USE SOMETHING ELSE.

Okay, yeah. Add my name to the list; I'm absolutely picking this up on May 10th. Xbox gamertag's "milk ducks", same as my forum name. Hard to say at this point, but I'll most likely be interested in playing a Heavy-Built Medic, so I can take more punishment as I wade into combat behind the soldiers. Again, hard to say how effective anything's going to be at this point, but I'm a pretty big fan of support roles in ... every game I play, so Medic is attractive to me at this point.

So now what.
And we're not talking "insane" here. There's not some huge blaring red klaxon saying "HOLY SHIT, JACKPOT JACKPOT JACKPOT 777 777 777 YOU HIT HIM".
But in a game so full of hitscan weapons (and can you see the health of the guy you're shooting?) maybe it won't be an issue.
