I kind of feel like turning music appreciation into a magical power is sort of overstating your enjoyment. I'm not sure why the story wouldn't have worked without the word phonomancer, and if she was just a girl who liked to dance and got shot down by a dude and a rude DJ.

That's out of the second series, Robos. From the preview of the first series on the site, I can tell you that there's much more to it than "music appreciation"

    I saw this movie today.

I enjoyed it, on the whole I'd say it was good. But it felt like it was kind of flipping between fantasy and realism too much. In one scene you'd have
    Big Daddy getting burnt alive

and then in the next scene
an 11-year-old girl murders like 15-20 gunmen and then gets threatened by a bazooka.

I think I would have liked it a lot more if it stayed realistic more frequently.
Scenes like the girl freaking out when he came into her bedroom or him getting brutally beaten by thugs were great. I was super-jazzed when he said "with no power comes no responsibility. Except, that's not true," but was kind of let down when it turned out that that meant flying in to save the day on a rocket pack.

It just seemed like the movie couldn't figure out if real-life superheroes would get the shit kicked out of them, or if it would turn out to be exactly like comic-book superheroes except with more killing.

Still though, I liked it. I just think it could have been better than it was.

A lot of my problems with it probably would be taken care of if Hit-Girl had been at least 4-5 years older. A kid that young being that awesome just pushed my suspension of disbelief a little too far.

I think only the protagonist is supposed to be realistic, and even then he's highly unusual. The rest of the story is pretty off-the-wall.

it's not as blatant as that post suggests

    in the final issue:
hit girl and kick-ass are getting prepared for the FINAL SHOWDOWN when hit girl snorts up this stuff that her dad gave to her, describing it as a "special chemical made by scientists that gives you the strength of 10 men" or something like that

My Pixar rankings since why the hell not:

    Up
    The Incredibles
    Ratatouille by a hair
    WALL-E
    Monsters Inc
    Finding Nemo
    Toy Story

Haven't seen Cars or TS2, and it's been so long since I've seen A Bug's Life that I may as well have not.

I'm going to assume that the stupidity is Disney's doing, and not Pixar.

They're kind of weird about DVD releases and such, and I doubt they're any better with Blu-Ray

I dunno if I could pick a particular favorite Pixar film. I teared up at both UP and Wall-E.

Finding Nemo and Incredibles were both fantastic, but I can only retain so much love for them over the others when Pixar keeps making one classic after another.

Also, this piece always gets to me.

The only film that can do that to me is Fox and the Hound.

Specifically, the scene when Tod is abandoned.

A few people at Pixar probably had to exchange their souls in order to receive the talent to make a movie as good yet wide-appealing as Up.
