I wanna say that complaining about the violence in Kick-Ass is sort of like complaining about laughter in a comedy movie

as in, it's kind of the point

EDIT: or, rather, a by-product of the point that the movie is trying to make

it's hard to say more without just throwing out a spoiler

    ...

    yeah that seems kinda ridiculous

Ebert's going nuts in his old age

either that or his opinion on movies is contrary to yours!

Pretty sure this movie is going to be fun

But I can see how it wouldn't be a critically acclaimed movie

Just being curious, what point is the movie trying to make in regard to its violence?

have you seen it? if you've not seen it it's sort of a spoiler
No, the movie's not out yet where I live. Well, then don't bother, I don't want anyone's experience spoiled because of me.

Hey Viv, is it true that Asians perceive the b.o. of white people as stronger and more noticable?

honestly I rarely care what critics think

generally I will go see the Oscar nominees where I may not have done so before

    but that's about it

I loved this movie and I don't particularly care if critics or experts hate it, it was awesome for me

Erm, I read that whites have a stronger b.o. than Asians and that Asians therefore perceive them as, well, more stinky. I wondered whether that was true.

    maybe it's decent

I've seen it. It had a few decent-ish funny lines, but was kinda annoying overall, and I wouldn't consider it something I'd pay to see. I've never seen the original, but it seemed like almost half the movie (at least a third) was built upon the "vicodin" gag they had in the trailers, which kept going and going and going.

Keith David didn't even get to do a whole lot in it. Danny Glover being old and grumpy took up more screentime than him.

I guess my complaint isn't the tyler perry method of movie making so much as the total laziness in remaking a movie then barely changing anything about it.

Same reason they remade Love Actually into Valentine's Day

Films with British casts are not going to pull in huge numbers in America

Whereas Valentine's Day did pretty decently at the box office (over $50 million on opening weekend)

I saw this movie last night. It was incredible. It's pretty much how I wish I could live my life. I just want to go an adventure and be somebody but I'm just a normal kid like Dave was. But he goes out there and does something about it. It was so great.
