I wanted to see what people were talking about when they said Ebert's review of Kick Ass was awful
This isn't comic violence. These men, and many others in the film, are really stone-cold dead. And the 11-year-old apparently experiences no emotions about this. Many children that age would be, I dunno, affected somehow, don't you think, after killing eight or 12 men who were trying to kill her?

    Which he follows up with:
I know, I know. This is a satire. But a satire of what? The movie's rated R, which means in this case that it's doubly attractive to anyone under 17. I'm not too worried about 16-year-olds here. I'm thinking of 6-year-olds.

    He missed the point entirely.

dude it happens all the time. parents are too lazy/cheap to hire a sitter so they bring their kids along.

I don't think a lot of parents pay attention to the ratings.

They look at the silly costumes in the bright colors and think that it's a kid's movie.

Okay so Speed Racer and Wanted are two of my favorite movies. Am I broken?
Jesus Christ. Who takes kids to see a movie like that?

When I was 12, my parents wouldn't even let me say the name of that movie without me getting in serious trouble

I gave my 12 year-old sister the comic to read about a month before the film came out and then I took her to see the film with me Thursday night. I really don't see it as a problem. It's just a movie and she's mature enough to handle it. I didn't offer her beer and take her on a crime-fighting spree.
