No, they've been nothing but polite in trying to get my order in. I just REALLY dislike dealing with people, as a general rule.

Meh, when I'm conducting an online transaction, if it gets to the point of needing to speak to an actual person in the first place,

I'm curious about your experience. The first time I ordered with them, the discount didn't go through, but with a quick email they credited my account. The second time I ordered, everything worked as expected - I wonder if it's a site quirk or not.

I noticed that even though their site has a few issues, they've always been polite and prompt in responding to any inquiries.

I'm in Langley BC, about 10 minutes from the border. That's why I tried to give them a US shipping address (quoted as $4.50 shipping on their online system.) I'd have no problem driving a half-hour round trip to save $13 on the shipping. My total for 150 1.5" square buttons plus shipping came to $57.50 US.

I placed my button order yesterday. It was just enough of a headache to get the order in at all that I didn't bother to complain about not getting the pax discount OR the $18 shipping to Canada when I provided them a US shipping address.

They charged that much for shipping? My order came out to $32 CAD after shipping (2x50 buttons) Are you way out east or something?

OK, my main Button and bonus button designs are DONE (barring any last minute suggestions from y'all).

Should be ordering them tomorrow (Friday), unless you guys/gals/etc make some cool suggestion to make them better. Or unless y'all think they are yucky (as my 4 year olds say) and I need to start over.

Let me kow what you think!

I won't be going to the Pre-PAX dinner because my ride can't get off work early enough. I'm going on the pub crawl though, for what that's worth.

How they determine shipping to Canada does seem to have a magical component to it, as Contre suggests (I honestly have no idea).

I fear we went overboard. This is mine and my husbands first time participating in the Buttoneers at PAX, but have been a long time collector of buttons in general. He did 5 designs and I did 5. so we'll have 9 of each to give out (keeping a set for myself). Can you guess which one my husband's are?

Red text on a black background probably isn't the best idea. That text probably won't be too visible, as purbuttons tends to print a little dark. Also, you should center your image.

The crowbar looks a little too small when printed so it might be hard to tell what it is.

I was concerned with the crowbar and the mushrooms being to small and since contrefait also felt that way I've made them larger. I definitely don't want people to not be able to tell what the items are on my button.

    I love the bonus button.

That said, I hate your main button. It just seems like a really bad joke made worse by the gamer girl/nerdy guys thing. There's plenty else to use from WoW if that's what your going for and I'd recommend any of it.

P.S. I love that bonus button so much.

I actually agree. Tbqh, I was too excited about my button-button that I really just wanted to whip something up for my other one just so I could post and that's what was convenient. Stay tuned for another version.

I know adding text to the button-button is an option, but I really feel like it needs to be clean.

You could always add text to the rim. I've seen that done before. Or just have the text small. Either way I think that's your best button. Don't worry about topping it. Just make it your one and only button and it will be awesome. You'll have one that people won't forget.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the feedback. I, too, am rather fond of the button button. :)

    What about these iterations?
    v1.1
    buttonbutton1.png

v1.2 - I prefer this one as long as I've put the text in the right spot to wrap around the edge. If it's legible enough, I have enough room to add my Twitter info as well. I think I'll have to call the button people to verify.

Anything between the edge of the button and the dashed line is going to be very difficult to read without actually trying to maneuver the button around.

I just looked at my received buttons in comparison to my design with the template on it. The dashed line really does demarcate the point at which your design will no longer be visible when looking at it straight on. If you want to see what was beyond the dashed line, you need to maneuver the button around and there is no guarantee it will even be legible.
