Now having said all this, shotguns pretty much insta-fire if their target is in range and in their line of sight. The above rules do take effect in shotgun vs. shotgun battles though.

Much to my surprise I actually had a machinegunner kill my shotty when they both moved around corners. The gunner might have been aiming, pretty sure my shotty wasn't.

I feel like this game needs a "coming round the corner" bonus or something. I'm thinking back to FPS games that I've played and the aggressor often has the advantage because they know exactly when they are going to be going around the corner, while the defender has to react to that. Something to promote less static gameplay, is what I'm getting at.

That said, I'm still having a blast with this game.

It's interesting that this game has such a low (in my mind) turn limit. I guess they really don't want the game to drag, but I find myself hitting the turn limit without really meaning to. Just my play style, I guess.

I'm guessing like you said the devs didn't want games to drag. I know my games would drag otherwise, I'd be crouch-walking all over the place, hiding and camping and shit. Since there's a turn limit it forces me to be more aggressive than I would otherwise (though I still camp areas when it's needed).

Okay, so one of three things is true:

    a) TEXAS2 is like 500% slower than TEXAS4.
    b) The entire game/all servers in general have slowed down quite a bit since 11AM this morning.
    c) I'm going crazy.

Seriously, I was juggling five games at a time this morning and now I can barely connect to one. It's very annoying.

Seriously, it's taking upwards of 2-3 minutes to send a move to the server. Something must be wrong. Is it possible my connection to TEXAS2 is obstructed somehow? Or is everyone else experiencing this?

Actually, no, TEXAS4 now seems a lot faster once I've gotten into it. Turn submitted immediately. Was able to switch to a new game immediately.

You guys should check it out and let me know if you notice a substantial difference between TEXAS2 and TEXAS4. I do.

edit: Yeah, it's like night and day. A turn went to the server immediately here on TEXAS4. For two games. And I can fluidly switch between games. On TEXAS2 it's slow as hell. I guess find me on TEXAS4 for now, if you want to challenge me.

That's really weird. I have 2-3 minutes of lag to do ANYTHING on TEXAS2, including submitting turns and switching between games.

Establishing an initial connection to TEXAS4 just now took about 2 minutes, but now that I'm in it, everything takes 0-3 seconds, from submitting turns, to switching between games.

Maybe it's a routing thing. I don't know. For now, sadly, I'm staying on TEXAS4 because TEXAS2 is almost unplayable for me.

So, steam lists this as the requirements:
    OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7
    Processor: 1.6 GHz
    Memory: 512 MB
    Graphics: Netbook integrated graphics
    DirectX®:
    Hard Drive: 220 MB
    Sound:

This seems deceptively low, how well does this run on older computers? I've got a 6 year old laptop with a 1.76 dual core and 1gig RAM on XP. I thought I heard something about how the AI loves to computer tons of different scenarios, will my laptop actually run this? :?

Well, the default resolution is 800x600x16. I mean, that's what the game initially sets up. And it doesn't really look that bad. It helps that the entire game is essentially rendered in four colors, and probably vectors. So yes I think that's probably right.

For my money, I'm sticking to TEXAS2 unless there's a larger movement. I don't feel like switching servers to play with different people and I'd rather have long load times than cut myself off from the majority of PAers.

Guys, it's not that one server is miraculously faster than another. The game is experiencing some growing pains. You all up and switch to another server and before you know it, the grass is going to be greener somewhere else.

    Give it time.

I don't agree. I actually do think that one server is miraculously faster than the other.

I got the game at 11AM today. That's 10 hours ago. This has been my experience with the game:

11AM to about 1PM (on TEXAS4): Everything was smooth.
5PM-7PM (on TEXAS2): Slow as shit.
8PM-8:20PM (on TEXAS2): Slow as shit
8:25PM-now (on TEXAS4): The exact opposite. Same experience as 11AM-1PM.

I mean, I'm not dreaming the differences. And it's very possible that one server is on older hardware or is somehow throttling.

edit: TEXAS2 is virtually unplayable for me, especially compared to TEXAS4. This kind of game isn't worth waiting 2-3 minutes between turn submissions, especially if you are juggling multiple games.

If it were a minor difference, I wouldn't mind, and maybe I'm experiencing much worse issues than anyone else, but there's really no option for me to stay on TEXAS2. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's virtually unplayable for me right now. If they fix TEXAS2, let me know, and I'll come back. Otherwise, look for me on TEXAS4 if you want to slap me around.
