I'm just going to bet you messed up installing it since you didn't read enough to know you had to hit the 4th travel point to get to the travel mod at first. He does a step by step install procedure and provides all the files, so I'd just open the readme and do it all again step by step. If you did do that you can try removing the exe, but I'm pretty sure you'd get an error relating to that if it was the problem.

And enabling the Oasis waypoint is stupid easy with Willowtree, unless having to download and pick Oasis off a list is annoying for people.

Yeah I know I fudged it up somewhere but I can't tell where. The instructions tell me to put certain files/folders in certain locations and I've done that. I might just start over, redownload everything.

It's been awhile since we speculated on the story/world. Good times, good times. :P

    Lets see. Some random "facts":

Three planets have been named; Pandora, Prometheus, Aquator. However, IIRC, it is mentioned that the Atlas Corp alone controls 13 planets.

It is a good bet that Hyperion built all the Claptraps.

The Dahl Corp were the ones to bring in the convicts to work the mines. However their real motives were to find alien tech. Atlas (who effectively own the planet) find out about it and send the Lance in to take care of business. Faced with the invasion Dahl pulls out of Pandora (very abruptly). Leaving behind convicts and many workers.

edit- Also, and this is just pure speculation on my part, there does not seem to be any kind of central gov't in this universe. It seems likely to me that everything is run by Corporations.

Nah, Atlas were the first to colonize. Dahl didn't arrive till sometime later. Dahl left Pandora about 2 years or so before the start of Borderlands.

edit- Another random tidbit: Sanctuary is the largest city on Pandora (probably the space port too, though IDK). It is also straight up controlled by the Crimson Lance.

edit 2- Oh and according to General Knoxx, Roland spent all of two tours on the planet Prometheus.

In the future, the line between government and corporation has been dissolved. TOTALLY unlike our world. Totally. Crazy fantasy sci-fi stuff there... completely unbelievable. 8-)

Anyway, Hyperion was out of my attention through most of the game because the guns were so rare. But, they made the New-U stations and catch-a-ride station, and probably the claptraps so their influence is great.
Given the reveal that Angel is also of Hyperion origin, the main characters are pawns or henchmen (or some other appropriate euphemism) for Hyperion -indirectly. And we fight both Dahl (bandits) and Atlas (Lance) employees (ok, prisoners in the case of Dahl) over the course of the game. We kill Jacobs employees too if you count zombies/wereskags in Dr.Ned. Vladof is strangely silent story-wise, only existing by the presence of their guns from what I can tell.

Access to the new-U stations is a big deal.

Although I guess it's possible that the Lance can use them as well, and we aren't really thinning the ranks of an army so much as killing the same 6 dudes over and over and over and over and over. D: No wonder Roland quit.

vladof isn't unique for not doing much in the story. Most of the companies don't currently have much story presence.

Also, and I might be mistaken, I think Torgue, Tediore, Vladof, Maliwan, and S&S are basically just weapon manufacturers. While Atlas, Dahl, and Hyperion seem to have their hands in a lot of pies.

Jakobs is probably just a weapons manufacturer as well and their lumber operation is simply to provide the wood for their guns.

At least this is what I infer based on the info the game provides.

I don't blame ya there Zenitram.

Most of the backstory and such come from Echo Recordings mostly. General Knoxx DLC actually does go in to a fair amount of detail about Atlas. Helena Pierce gives a speech about the history of Pandora.

Wow, I never saw that original reveal trailer. It certainly seems like an OK game, but the art style change took it from average to awesome I think. The whole "shit-tons of guns" idea seems really out of place in a serious-business FPS game too. In that sorta world I'd imagine you'd be unable to carry much, and weapons in serviceable condition were rare, given the junkworld nature of the place.

I guess Helena Pierce was originally going to be more of a key character. Instead we ended up with a quintet of helpful folks, Zed, Marcus, Helena, Tannis, and of course Scooter. Crazy earl doesn't count, because his missions suck.

Weird. It's actually travel point 2 on mine...... the fuck. We talking about the travel station within Oasis right? The place where there's a weird ass snake creature next to some vending machines?

It took me near enough an hour to get it working. Also had to edit my quests 'cause I'd finished the armory one leaving the door beneath which the glitch can be achieved permanently closed. Got it running properly today though and it's been pretty awesome. Now I know how to edit quests and shit, I'm gonna go nutso!

Several days ago (maybe a week or so actually) General Knoxx's twitter page had an update. He said he "Got new orders (from the future)".

    Squeeee!

    edit-

Originally Borderlands was more "serious". There were only 3 characters at the time (Brick wasn't added until the awesome redesign). Each character had their own story apparently. I forget what Mordecai and Roland were after, but Lilith was in search of another Siren that was supposedly on Pandora. I guess there are only a handful of Sirens in the universe. Also, Lilith's original model was pretty much Commandant Steele.

The redesign came about thanks to a "mutiny" or sorts by the art staff. I guess they worked on it in their own time and approached Randy Pitchford with their proposal only months before the release date.

So I just finished my first play session with my friends, got a Medic Roland, Sniper Mordeci, and Elemental Lilith to about 16.

The Moe and Marley fight took us 20 minutes. Seriously. We aggroed a few Badass Skags, and the nearly bandit camp who had all respawned. My Combat Rifle skill ranked up twice when Moe dropped. They had insane amounts of health... shooting the unarmoured behinds didn't seem to do much.

Also, I'm having trouble healing people with my Combat Rifle. I have to pretty much tell them to stand still to heal them. Is there a more effective way to do this? There doesn't seem to be an autoaim for allies.

As biased as curly is, this is good advice. Get a shotgun with very high damage, and use it as a health cannon.

Rockets also work, but unless you build some proficiency, shotguns will heal faster and annoy your teammates far less.

Guys I think I bugged my game at the beginning of Playthrough 2. I got to the Fix'er Upper quest (fix the med machine) and it says to buy a shield. I bought one and it says to Turn In, but I can't finish the quest at Zed.

I restarted and now the only objective is "Shield Purchased" but it's checked and it still says to Turn In (and I still can't). Any suggestions? Is it possible to restart Playthrough 2?

    I'm on PS3 btw.

update: Problem solved. I had to join someone else's game and let them do the quest for it to un-bug.

About Roland's healing: Bear in mind that both Impact and Scattershot will boost the damage your shotgun inflicts. This means that you can heal your allies for more. Even better, Scattershot will reduce your spread so you can heal effectively from further away (and possibly do some damage to the source of your friend's woes).

    +61% SMG damage
    +3 Girl Power
    +4 High Velocity
    +3 Quicksilver
    +28 ammo regen

trying to decide if it's perfect, or if the extra point in High Velocity instead of Quicksilver is going to be a downgrade
