My papers begin with "how the hell am I going to pad eight pages about this" and end with "goddamnit i went way over the limit what can i trim"
Same thing happened to me in my Native American Religion class.
And my Classical Chinese Poetry class.
My major was Ecology and Evolution but for all of my humanities electives I took upper division classes for the most part.
Except for an undergrad 'Intro to Philosophy and Ethics' class that was confusing as hell (tried to cover a drop of everything from Socrates and Aristotle to Kamp and Neitche), but I guess I aced it because most of the other students were more confused than myself.

Yeah, Salt... It's all back and forth on abstract stuff just for the sake of doing so. Can't say I'm fond of the field either. A bit too cerebral, and a bit too removed from humanity in some cases.
Religions contain culture, history, languages, traditions... much more interesting and concrete. Something that relates to y'know... how people actually live.
Hell this is good stuff for your character, too.
Nar may have a view of the Jedi Tradition that is more devotional/religious in nature. Respectful of the old ways when things were less political, The Force and the Jedi's understanding of it was the most important. The Jedi are basically a distinct culture within the galaxy.
In the game's 'present day' the Council seems to be losing the connection to the old traditions... even Yoda is getting lost in war, strategy and politics.
Yoda's character is so different in the prequels... years later, when Luke encounters him in Dagobah (after his long exile), Yoda is more interested in teaching the nature of The Force, the true way of the Jedi Knight, and discourages him from the use of his weapons and rushing off to battle.
I love the simple exchange of...
"I'm looking for a great warrior."
"Oh! Great warrior! Wars not make one great!"
You can bring some of your own studies into those of Nar, and I think that would be cool as heck.
I like the fact that the Unknown regions have been, well, unknown. A GM's playground and all that. And the blurb doesn't look too exciting. Not a big deal for me.
But. If they're putting the book out anyway, I want it to be chock full of information, fluff and goodies on the Chiss. Grand Admiral Thrawn was the best thing to happen to the EU, and his people are cool too.
let it be in the official record that this game's GM (hereafter known as Horseshoe) dislikes the Star Wars "novels" in general... Timothy Zahn novels specifically. Close second: anything with Corran Horn ever.
Mentioning Chiss or Yuuzhan Vong is mostly going to make Horseshoe do bad things to you.
Horseshoe couldn't give a shit about what the characters in the original trilogy were doing after the Battle of Endor, even moreso for the kids and/or grand-kids of the characters in the original trilogy.
However, Horseshoe does like some of the stuff from the old "Star Wars Adventure Journal" short stories. Some of them are actually well written.

salt: once again, not razzing you. entertaining myself. this is a social thread for me. take your time, quality is always better than quantity.
similar to writing a paper in college.
wait i take that back. some people have bullshit majors like "communications" and rely upon filler, font size and line spacing.
that shit is crazy deep
and i would almost expect the opposite problem
people with 'work ethic'
you make me sick to my cheeto-filled stomach

I hate philosophers
I'm in one this semester and it reminds me how much better I like them than the classes i gotta take to major

edit: so has anyone got ahold of unknown regions yet?
i don't call it 'filler', i call it table talk
everything is longer in PbP's, even the breaks
also
i am unaware of unknown regions
what's the deal?
it's probably good as bought already
(it's a good thing I don't give a shit about KotOR though, because apparently that one's hard to find)
