Marvel Vs Capcom 3 or The Sound of Everyone Crapping their Pants.
Alright, so it's pretty much close to a confirmation already. Marvel VS Capcom 3 is in fact real and is in fact coming much sooner than expected. Though I'm pretty skeptical about them using Street Fighter IVish graphics, I'm still as giddy as Gabe whenever unicorns are involved.
What do you guys think? Psyched? Disappointed (Can't see how though) ? I personally hope disney characters somehow make it in the mix. Pete Vs Hulk anyone?
Kotaku lifts its Capcom embargo tomorrow at 9 am (they're gonna talk about Capcom's Captivate conference), and they sound like they have ginormous news. Screwattack also commented on it on Hard News. Its all over the interwebz as heavily hinted at. 90 percent sure it's for real.
It's a great game to play with someone else who isn't very good with it. But awful to lpay against anyone that really knows what they are doing.
Oh God, tell me about it. I still remember when I was in an arcade in Florida, and I saw an MVC2 machine and played against some guy. To say he raped me is an understatement. I was violated. Still doesn't change the fact that I'm super psyched about MVC3 though.
Supposedly the game is about 50% MvC2 and 50% SF4.
Sounds like a fun game, hopefully its a little more user-friendly than MvC1 and MvC2, I think the greatest strength of a game with 50-billion fighters and a shitload of iconic characters is that so many people could potentially enjoy it.

I don't know if I could go back to MvsC-type insanity after having been involved with SF4 for so long. I tried playing MvsC2 recently and just got my ass handed to me something fierce.
TvC proved they have an excellent handle on the future of Versus titles.
Or at least that Eighting does.

Wait, so this is legitimate? Because I was certain there would be no way we'd get another MvC game. I would absolutely have preferred they stay with the sprite-based stuff, but I hear that's actually a lot more effort than just 3D models these days. But as long as the models are good and the visual style still fits the high-speed combat style without crippling the gameplay, can't really object. I played MvC2 so much that it sort of wrecked other fighters for me; even when they're good, they just strike me as so slow a lot of the time. This news definitely goes under "Super Awesome" for me.
I just hope they do a much better job of removing infinites from the game somehow. Some of the easier infinites in MvC2 are a huge pain in the ass; nothing like joining an unranked game for a good time and watching as some asshole picks Iron Man and immediately launches into an infinite at the first chance. On the upside, I don't have to put up with the bullshit and can just leave thanks to online play.
Also, balancing the characters a lot better, particularly certain supers and assists. A number of MvC2 assists can do stupid amounts of damage (Tron Bonne's OOO ray) or be stupidly irritating (Blackheart's anti-air assist). Personally, I'd like to see a return of everyone from at least MvC2 but now everyone is actually usable even if they can't all be equal. Watching a good player use Servbot to wreck a Sentinel player in something less than 5 minutes would be great.
Also also, I was just playing Dead Rising and I'm crossing every finger I can in the hopes of a playable Frank West. If Jill can get a special attack where she turns into a giant fireball in MvC2, a combat-ready Frank West is certainly a possibility. He's covered wars, you know.

Couldn't care less about TvC; checking the character list, I only recognize most of the characters on the Capcom side and absolutely none of the ones on the Tatsunoko side. I doubt I'll ever play that, which means I definitely want Frank in MvC3.
Also, why be sad this isn't CvS 3? Ton of Capcom characters including Street Fighter ones plus a ton of Marvel characters. Unless CvS played entirely differently which is entirely possible since I don't remember playing CvS much.

I want nerfing and balancing support like the next Blazblue or I walk. kthxbye.

CvS played completely differently, kinda like Alpha 3 vs KoF. I love SNK and their characters basically.
I know I'm still gonna have a ton of fun with MvC3, though.
I hope this game has a truly ridiculous amount of characters
Like, at least 50. Per company
This times a GAZILLION.
MvC2 is one of my favorite games of all time. For me, it's the absolute epitome of fun hanging out with friends fighter. Games like SF4 and Soul Calibur, when no one really knows how to play them, look like two people randomly punching and kicking low, and occasionally jumping.
You can really kind of button mash in MvC2 and just do AWESOME looking shit. And the assist system is like the fucking coolest wildcard ever, because there have been times I've played people who just spam the hell out if it because it looks awesome, and I'm all frazzled and can't defend it. It's just an amazing game to fuck around in with people of all skill levels. No one I know is hardcore enough to consistantly dominate, and even the better people will lose now and then when they pick a lower tier team.
And that, to me, is the fun. This is the game for mediocre fighters like me. There have been plenty of games that people say "this game isnt for you." Well, die hard, balanced, skill based, tournament serious fighting fans? This game isn't for you.
I want 70 characters per side and I personally could care less if most of them are re-skins. The fun is that EVERYONE knows SOMEONE from each universe. People who don't play fighters can't pick up Soul Calibur and already have a 'favorite' fighter. Hell, some of my friends wouldn't even know a Street Fighter guy.
But EVERYONE can boot up MvC and get excited about Spider-Man or the Hulk. Some people know Jill Valentine and MegaMan. You can put the game in front of people who've never touched a fighter in their life and they will ALREADY have a 'favorite team'.
I am so fucking excited.

Ooh. OOH! Deadpool. I demand Deadpool. Maybe two.
I'm pretty sure all these complaints are moot as it's obviously going to be from scratch.
TvC was a pretty legitimate game as far as Vs. insanity goes.
With Frank West included.
This is the rumor list at Eventhubs:
• Confirmed characters so far are Wolverine, Spider-Man, The Hulk, Magneto, Storm and a few others will return.
• The Marvel vs. Capcom 3 development team said they will be blowing fans out of the water with the sheer number of characters this game includes on the disc.
• This will be another 2D fighter — gameplay-wise — but will be something of a cross between the original Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter 4.
• The rumored release date is late 2010 or early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, no plans right now for other systems.
• The game will run in 1080p resolution.
• It will be a disc-based release.
• Apparently the game will have unlockables again.
• Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be playable at this year's E3 which is held on June 15 - 17th.

Which is why I'm actually kind of sad that I probably won't be able to enjoy this. Because it sounds nuts already.

Many ridiculous characters should be quite fun.
Anyone else assume this is gonna be a modded TvC engine?(also pleeeease include the TvC characters even though I know there's no chance.)

Cammy, BB Hood, and Gambit.
Fixed.
They said a cross between SFIV and MvC2? Well that's what we need right there.

Amaretasu for WTF value, and because hell if it's getting a sequel that means they care something about it.
I never asked for this!
