I bought MvC2 on the heels of SF4, never having played a MvC game before. I was expecting crazy action in the same sort of vein as Smash Bros. Instead, I went online to find Magneto/Storm/Sent teams, one after the other, and they had all memorized the exact button presses required to kill me in 8 seconds.

I hope this game encourages a little more skill/casual players than that.

    Good luck with this.

I will say I hope the game is less broken tho. Maybe try actually doing Magneto/Storm/Sent in some matches tho, it's by no means an auto win team until you are at a high skil level.

I'm not saying it doesn't take practice, but seeing the same team out of dozens of characters over and over and having them all use the same instant-win tactics every time made me sorry I bought the game.

Yeah, you're just practice fodder at that point. I can't even imagine what kind of excitement they get out of facing another skilled player with that team. It's pretty much rock, paper, scissors until someone fucks up once and it's over.

Yeah but most competitive players would say that low tier teams boil down to opening the opponent up for a short > short > super.

I think capcom has realized now, though, that you balance updates should be patched and not released as whole new games so hopefully we don't have to worry about having a new big 4.

Add me to your gamertag list. I was pretty good but am damn rusty now. I also know a guy on these boards (name online is CableCarrier, and I BELIEVE thats his name here too...its funny how I mostly just look at avatar pics now and have no idea anyones username) played a bit back when it came out and its GREAT fun with people just fucking around.

I usually pick a rogue/cammy/cap team, or some variation with one of those guys, but I love mixing it up to the point of totally sucking and hoping I find a new favorite. I'll play whenever.

This game can be really awesome once you find a good group. Also - practice a little with your ASSISTS. They can be very helpful if youre facing a team that only has ONE tactic. Figure out who will cancel out what they're doing (assists can either knock guys out of the air, run along the ground, bring people to you or fire a projectile) and it frees YOU up to move around while your assist person bewilders your opponent.

Playing at high level against someone else at high level is really fun. Its just that the execution barrier is infuriatingly high for newer players.

My favorite team up was Venom, Jin Saotome, and Akuma.

My Venom was untouchable back in the day. Jin is the awesome "skinny-dude-who-beats-seven-shades-of-fuck-outta-the-big-guys", and Akuma is Akuma.

Not the strongest team by far, but my favorite easily.

I wonder how they're going to work assists in this game.

I don't want them to be as spamming as they were in MvC2, but I would like it to be a bit faster than it was in TvC

Bah, the assist delay in MvC2 is fine. The faster a spammer uses his assists, the faster he loses those characters.

Well, my wishlist is small and simple...

    1. Rufus... next to no chance of seeing him in this game, but HELL, I can dream right?

    2. Thor... pretty damn good chance of seeing Thor. Since his revival, he's all of a sudden become REALLY popular. With the somewhat recent popularity boom, a movie on the way, a DvD on the way, and his very own tv-series. Well, I have a feeling Marvel will push for him! HERE'S A SHOUT OUT FOR A VOLSTAGG CAMEO (for those who don't know, he's arguably the most popular character in the Thor series after Thor. He has really hit an all time popularity high at the hands of recent writers.)

From an old argument, but after finally downloading the higher quality version of the trailer from gametrailers. I'm 100% sure the person on the far left of the capcom logo is Felicia and not Viewtiful Joe or any big head character.

Safe to assume that if Marvel has a movie in production, or pre-production, they'll want that character in this game. If a Marvel movie in the last 10-15 years was successful, they'll probably want that character in the game, too. Ghost Rider was a medium sized success. Safe bet he's in this. Same with Thor. I wouldn't be surprised if Blade was in it, honestly. Super Skrull isn't that out of bounds - betting he'll be like Seth from SF4.

I think the toughest part of this game is gonna be figuring out who to play as at first.

I mean Frank west, Felicia, Deadpool, Ryu, Dante, and Chris Redfield are awesome, and there are still like 15 others we haven't heard about. Viewtiful Joe, Trish, Megaman, and Zero are probable. If Gene, T.Bonne, and Ameterasu are in it will blow my mind
