2) At 2:19 it says it's an MvC2 cabinet but they're clearly playing CvS1 on it.
I dunno if this article over on Shoryuken has been posted here yet, but for those of you who don't like the TvC-ness of MvC3, the video confirms that their current internal working build is much more like MvC2, and they're trying to steer it away from a TvC feel (except for the button layout).
Now with this information out, the question is, should I buy MvC2 and start practicing with that to prepare myself? Before this I was just gonna keep playing a lot of TvC. Ah, decisions.
MVC3 is pretty much the next sequel to x-men children of the atom. The lineage goes X-men children of the atom, marvel superheros, x-men vs. streetfighter, marvel super heros vs. streetfighter, Marvel vs. capcom, marvel vs. capcom 2, and now marvel vs. capcom 3.

'Naw man, I wanna see a tied and true sequel to it... With newer X-men.
This is the first time I think I've seen Felicia's 2nd Super. Though it didn't really do anything in the video. It might be new. I don't remember that one from MvC2, but I'm not familiar enough with Dark Stalkers to know if it came from there.

That was probably her "Help me" super from the DS games, where a group of cat girls jump on the opponent and attack. Basically a second auto combo super.

She had that in MvC2, but if you miss the cat girls go away. Here she seemed to call out just one and it kept jumping all over the screen. I'm wondering if it's like having a prolonged assist on the screen.

Could be they changed it to have multiple chances to connect.
It'll be funny if you could still do it five times in a row.

It looks to be a toned down version of Yatterman-2's helper bot. Kiets explains the move during his commentary of the match below:

I love how one guy in that last MvC3 video was too busy trying to wavedash to not get the crap kicked out of him. Quit trying to find things to whine about and play the damn game. Jerk.
Wasn't that triangle jumping? Actually I don't know what the hell wavedashing is other than I hear smash people talk about it every once in a while.

Yeah, he was triangle jumpping (jump, dash forward down, repeat quickly) but he was also trying to wavedash. You can cancel a forward dash by pressing down in the middle of it; you can wavedash by forward dashing, canceling by pressing down, then dashing again. Do it quickly and you basically dash infinitely. You could in MvC2, anyway. Not necessarily hugely important since the characters with the really fast dashes tend to go pretty far anyway, but it can be useful. Conventional players won't even know the difference.
I didn't even notice Kiets' use of Cap's cartwheel to get behind his opponent during a Felicia assist and cause a cross-up. Can't wait to fall for that online over and over again.
General question to the thread, how many people here play fighting games with a normal gamepad?
How many people here go out and get the arcade stick?
Is there really any benefit from doing so?
This is of course in just a home gaming context.
I remember (back in the day) going to the local arcade and playing the MvC2 cabinet stick and all.
It definitely added to the arcade feel, but is it really necessary?/make you a better player?

Playing a fighting game with a joystick as opposed to a gamepad is akin to playing a first person shooter with a mouse and keyboard as opposed to a gamepad, basically.

For most 2d fighters a stick is considered superior. For most 3d fighters the ratio of high level pad players to stick players is pretty even, sometimes leaning toward pads. Tekken 5 and 6 arcade cabinets had ps2 pad slots so you could bring yours to the arcade.
For playing at home just go with whatever works or is affordable.

Yeah. I mainly play 3D fighters so I never had too much of a problem playing mostly on pads. However, now that I've started to get more into 2D fighters, I would like to relearn how to use sticks.
So strange, I was really good with them when I was a kid now I can't use them for crap.
Sticks often considered to be better for buffering, and many people have an easier time hitting 1 and 3 on them. If you want to play Tekken with a pad you have to learn the claw grip as well, so you could just save your hands with a stick.
My problem with sticks is that they all seem to come with the horrible little ball joystick lately. I love my Dreamcast, giant metal slab joystick, but I can hardly use it. And all import/Neo Geo machines use these as well.
The fully covered ones almost all American machines use are way better.
Maybe its because its all I've had, but the standard gate has been fine once I got used to it. At first I was having trouble with the DP motion, now its no problem. Nor FB, or 360's. Just takes some getting used to. Although if you've learned on an octo gate, its harder to learn something new than something the first time. I have thought about getting an octo just to learn to finesse the gate instead of riding it sometimes. I would think square, octo, square would be easier than octo, square.

Lol that was and old friend of mine playing CVS1 on that Cabinet. He wasn't much of a MvC2 player.
/He did get 3rd place at CvS1 at B5 though, which is awesome.
