I found all the yashichis/upgrades without needing a guide. They're really not that well hidden.

Do those videos show the locations of upgrades?

Upon further exploration, I have come across most of them without help while doing my retro playthrough. There are a few where it seems you need to jump to get, though. Am I just not seeing the other solution?

Hmm, I played the demo, but I don't know if I'm going to actually get this one. The arm feels so wrong, and the control scheme is designed to make me jump when I want to shoot.

Hey homies. How do you beat the anti-aircraft boss on prestige? I can't use grenades, and my bazooka only has 3 shots. I need another.

That chopper pilot reminds me... of Frank West?

This would make sense, as a nod back to the Bionic Arm in one of Dead Rising's versions.

    Well, he HAS covered wars.

True, I was considering it was possibly a reference to MvC3's opening, where West unfortunately ended up removed later from the roster.

Can't say, I just happened to come across it. I've not played the game yet, so I haven't watched the guide; I'm still waiting to get a bigger hard drive and maybe a review code before I get the game.

Hope no one minds a double-post/revival; I finally got my new 360 hard drive, the demo, just finished playing it, and wanted to share my thoughts.

    First...

    Holy hell, the controls.

Remember how Miyamoto said in one Iwata Asks that the original intent was to have Up be the jump button in Super Mario Bros.? This is what it would be like if he did that in the sequel.

At the same time, Nadia suggested that it might be intended for newcomers, or people who couldn't get a grip on the old controls. She then played it and found it easier.

It's not exactly unmanageable (except maybe the forward-arm-shooting thing), but I definitely feel handicapped. Would it have killed them to have some sort of "oldschool" control option? They should patch it in, at least.

Between the easy mode (not what I was playing on) and the health regenerator, I imagine I could get through the game, but...

Anyway, I'll probably get this (a pity I never got a review copy). It has its "uh?" moments, but it was still fun.

Oh, and I thought I read the controls would be customizable. Perhaps that's not in the demo? Terrible thing to leave out, if so.

Incidentally, I love some of the "3D" effects; I hope we see 2D games on the Nintendo 3DS with effects like this, but actually pop out at you.

Honestly, I got used to the new controls pretty quickly. I still haven't completed the game, but I'm probably 2/3rds of the way through. I'm enjoying it, but not as much as the first one.

I've also been trying to get through each level without jumping on my first try. It's always irritating when I accidentally press the jump button near the end of the level, but for the most part I've been successful on this endeavor.

I got better as I went along, but at the same time, I know if I had the old controls, I'd probably be moving a lot better, too.

I got disgusted of this game by the second to last level and ended up deleting it from my system. I actually really enjoy the new controls, they're reminiscent of the mechanics in the full retail Bionic Commando Grin made earlier. However, it's the level design that killed me. There are so many terrible levels, especially later in the game, including the return of my least-favorite design mechanic of the 8-bit era: Forced scrolling.

The levels feel like they were thrown together rather than being designed around the new mechanics, and the game suffers as a result.

I made it about half-way through the game, struggling against the controls the whole way, but I had to stop. The levels are so shittily designed that it's like they don't want me to enjoy the game at all
