Here's some average lap test results. I know the Supra's not on the list but I tested that one last week. The 911 really struggles for grip on Maple Valley with no rear wing option. You really have to drive smooth if you want to stay out of trouble. And don't dare hit the brakes in the middle of a sweeper. And the 95 Eclipse did not upgrade nearly as well as the 03 Eclipse I ran this week. It's 300 lbs lighter but also down 100 HP.

Anyone following 24 Heures du Mans right now? Been watching it for the last 3 hours, and driving in my Audi R15 around Le Mans in Forza 3 simultaneously
It has really put things into perspective though. I think I admire the drivers even more now that I know how often I fly off the track because I miscalculated a turn. If these guys make even one mistake, they are done for the rest of the race.
I just had a thought. Please tell me this is a stupid thought.
Forza 3 is missing a performance upgrade that covers your car in golf-ball-like dimples for reduced wind resistance, like that one Mythbusters episode.
:-)
That's a bad idea, and you should feel bad.
:P
I do feel bad.
Also: zomg Daed! I don't think I've heard from you since my embarrassing MegaTokyo IRC days. How've you been?
You're thinking of the wrong person and I should have picked a less common username.
I call #47, unless someone else has been using it, and I never noticed.
And as an aside, I really wish Speed Channel would stop being so obsessive with airing NASCAR. Do we REALLY need to watch the practice laps over more internationally (Heck, even nationally) appreciated racing?
What are the parameters for racing numbers? 2 digits? Please don't slash my tires for having to ask that question...
BTW, I am SO fucking mad I can't make it this Thursday - I'll be out of state, and am pissed about it. I'm painting up my Quattro and will at least post that even though it already looks like shit compared to what's been shown off. Maybe I'll get to use it again...but it just won't be as ridiculous and awesome in anything but B Class. :x
I guess we could fake it with a 1 lap "race" but that might be too much effort.
I don't think it'd be too much trouble if you made the 1 lap race on a super short track like viejo mini.
Everyone lines up in ricer fashion, and whoever is at the back goes to the front slowly looking at all the paintjobs, doing a long game of leap frog until everyone has had a chance to look at all the paintjobs then the winner finishes the race while everyone else gets a DNF. That way only the winner gets lobby points while everyone else has a zero and will be randomized.
Alright, I'm so stinking proud of my Quattro I have to show it off now, even though the design doesn't stand a chance to win. I tuned it up at Catalunya and set out to race AI at LeMans - first run out of the garage I pulled time #830 on the leaderboards for La Sarthe. I love this thing. I went for a German muscle car look and stole the paintjob off a Challenger:
I managed to fit a 5.2L (hence the 318 cu/in displacement) V10 into the PI cap along with race springs and brakes, so it's pulling 522HP and is one of the most fun cars I've driven; the handling is well controlled but it begs to powerslide in those stock tires. I am pissed to no end I won't be there this week, but I'm glad I tuned it up before I found that out.

good man stew, there's a special place in my heart for the 911T.
Here's my ride this week. Don't know if it will be competitive, but I figure what the hell. I like the car too much to let it go unused.
It took me Goddamn hours to paint on a black stripe that bends at the end and some shitty fake chrome. Hours. I don't know how you guys make this complex custom stuff and keep your sanity.
Believe me, it took quite awhile. You wouldn't think it would take so long for what is really a pretty simple design. There's a reason I almost never put more than a racing stripe on my cars.
I can't believe you managed to put that much HP into B class car. That's 200 more than the B class cars I've been testing. It's got to be a rocketship on the straights.

I can put the ZR1 engine into a Regal and have it be B class. It puts it at like, 498, so there's not much besides flywheels, driveshafts, and rollbars that you can put on it afterwards; but hey! You've got a B class car with 640 horsepower!

That's fucking Ammurkahn.
I loved the Regal until I tried to drive it at A class...just too much car for me. It kicked my ass. I have a better handle on throttle control now so maybe I'll bring it out of mothballs at some point to try again.
How does it handle with stock tires?? At least the Quattro can rely on the magical stupidity of Forza AWD.
The displacement in cu/in of the V10 Quattro (318) plus the year it was made ('83) is my birthday, so I think it was in the stars that we should meet.

Really, that's all it takes these days.

'tis a good vintage.

and is that avagadro's number, veevee?
Yes it is

jesus christ guys this is just for fun, I want to show off my paint job.
also,
you forget or something?
Whoa, where'd I get 78 from? I asked what the digit limits were, but hadn't picked. SiliconStew is welcome to have 78.
If 3 digits are allowed, I want 255...if only single/double digits, then I'll go with 64.
That should be the last time I try to do something semi-productive after a night of drinking and watching le mans

With the V10, sway bars, rollcage, and differential it's just a hair under 3000 lbs (2992 or something?).
So it's no Elan or anything, but the PI handicap it gets from an AWD is pretty apparent.
