rfactor is pretty much the best PC sim racer as far as I've heard. I was going to try it out but rFactor 2 is in development so I think I'll wait for that.
also I just now realized that when you make a video from a replay on the storefront, even if you save it as 720p its not 720p, apparently the storefront only streams it in 360p

I love how he just lands in front of my Kia and I do that little extra shove for good measure ... Pretty good height though. I should see if I can take a silly picture or something.
I'll see you in an hour when you realize how shit they are by today's standards.

Pretty much.
I got used to the graphics pretty quickly, but then I actually tried to drive a car.
"WHY IS IT SKIDDING I AM DOING 15 AND BARELY TURNING"
"WHY CAN'T I BRAKE SMOOTHLY"
It's still awesome that I found my PS2, though. The sheer amount of cars in GT2 and GT4 is goddamn amazing. I would gladly sacrifice a bit of detail if we could get another 100-200 cars, even if they're old "shitty" ones like in the used car lots. I wound up buying like 15 variations of an R32 Skyline.
Also, the PS2 controller feels like a cheap plastic toy compared to how hefty and solid controllers are today. I haven't handled a PS3 controller, but goddayum the Dualshock 2 is light.
also I'm up for some racing if anyones online today

Even the wired 360 is heavier, though.

So, anti-climactic-ness. Mild chance I won't be able to make the race Tuesday night as I'm moving on Wednesday. We'll just have to see how the pieces fall into place I suppose.
Due to where I'm moving to, there's also a fair chance I won't have Live access which means I likely won't be able to make Maple Valley either. Mmm, what a potentially depressing end to my season.

You'll still get a place on the podium.
Of losers who picked shitty blender ricemobiles instead of USAWESOME cars.
The windows adapter for 360 wireless certainly does work with the wheel.. but I haven't bought rFactor yet to test the compatibility.
Force feedback definitely doesn't work though.. is one of those things Microsoft promised, then never delivered. It's since disappeared from all their marketing information.
Will the controller work with rFactor? I can't bring a wheel with me to work and it would be awesome to be able to do some racing.
Google says it works, in the sense that you can steer a car with it. FF doesn't work at all though.
Don't really care about FF with the controller, now to see if I can figure out how to get my wireless controller working on my PC (with the play and charge cord) without it controlling my xbox instead....
Edit: eh I'll look into picking up a wired controller when I go to Walmart tonight.

No, the play and charge does not work for using the controller on Windows. It will show up as a controller, but you can't use it at all.
You either need a wired controller, or the $20 adapter. The $20 adapter is cool in some ways, but not others.. you have to resync the controller every time you swap from PC to xbox.

I wouldn't worry too much. Even if you miss both races, Keml0 or I would have to win both of the last two races to put you in 3rd place. Granted you won't get to make a run for 1st...

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.
I had my roommate iron out the kinks in my Silvia's tuning and I'm routinely running 57s laps on Iberian reverse and according to the leaderboards, my current best is 56.048, less than half a second behind Kemlo and VeeVee.
Heh, I like how the GT5 thread comes up before this one when you do a forum search for "Forza".
I'm thinking about picking this up, was super excited about it before release but I never got around to picking it up.
Is there some kind of GotY or "Ultimate" edition out yet that has the base game plus DLC? I'd love the extra cars but no way in hell am I shelling out for the 8 or 9 car packs that must be out by now.
So we've known for quite a while they're working on a "ultimate edition" retail version that has all the DLC packaged with it, but this is somewhat shocking
Available in North American retail stores in late October, Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is the definitive retail package for fans who want to experience the best racing the Xbox 360 has to offer. Combining the massive amount of cars and tracks found in the original Forza Motorsport 3 with all of the current Forza 3 Add-on packs released so far, as well as exclusive new content, Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is perfect for the fledgling Forza fan or the seasoned racing vet looking to experience what they’ve missed since Forza 3’s original 2009 release.
The announcement of Forza 3 Ultimate Collection also signals the beginning of a long-term partnership between Turn 10 Studios and the BBC’s worldwide smash Top Gear. Automotive fans all over the world turn to Top Gear for its compelling views on automotive news, outstanding car reviews, and features that can’t be found anywhere else. Whether it’s the Top Gear Web site, magazine, or the phenomenal television series, the Top Gear brand is synonymous with cutting-edge automotive entertainment.
You won’t need to look far to find the Top Gear/Forza partnership off and running--yes, that’s The Stig on the cover of the Ultimate Collection. And, in keeping with Forza’s tradition of putting you behind the wheel of some of the world’s most amazing cars, the Ultimate Collection introduces “Stig’s Garage Car Pack”, a downloadable trio of cars available only to Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection owners via a content card included in the Ultimate Collection packaging. The three “Stig’s Garage” cars include:
Lexus LFA
Koenigsegg CCX
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
In addition to “Stig’s Garage Car Pack”, Ultimate Collection owners will also receive a token for a free download of a 90-minute Top Gear video compilation featuring Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May and produced especially for Ultimate Collection owners, as well as an exclusive Xbox LIVE Top Gear premium dashboard theme.
The Forza 3 Ultimate Collection is the largest Forza entry yet: comprising 500 premium cars with fully modeled cockpits; each completely customizable via upgrades and through Forza’s groundbreaking in-game paint and decal system. Ultimate Collection will also feature all cars and tracks found in the previously released Forza 3 Add-on Packs including:
Motorsports Legends Pack
October Track Pack (Benchmark and Sidewinder tracks)
Hot Holidays Pack
Autoweek Car Show Pack
Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit Track pack
Jalopnik Car Pack
Road & Track Car Pack
Exotic Car Pack
Summer Velocity Pack
World Class Car Pack
Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection will also include seven new car models, including:
Lancia 037 Stradale
Jaguar D-Type
Plymouth Cuda
Audi R8 5.2 FSI Quattro
Audi TT RS Coupe
Audi R15 TDI
Porsche 550A Spyder
The world’s best automobiles combine with some of racing’s most famous circuits in Forza 3 Ultimate Collection; the game will have more than 100 track layouts to race on, including Laguna Seca, Tsukuba, Road America, as well as endurance tracks like Le Mans de la Sarthe and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
When you aren’t taking your cars on track and putting them up against the game’s demanding AI, Ultimate Collection owners will also be able to take advantage of Forza 3’s outstanding community features, from eight-player online racing via Xbox LIVE, to sharing their paint shop, photography, and video creations with the wider Forza world via the storefront. Racing, drifting, drag, tuning, painting, photography, video… it’s all here for you in the Ultimate Collection.
Look for the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection on store shelves in late October in the US, Canada, UK, and Germany and in other territories in the coming months.
You would logically think that all this new content would be available as DLC but then they go and say shit like "available only to Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection"
If you can't download those extra cars seperately I think a HUGE percentage of Forza players are going to leave this community permanantly, it would be the final [percieved] insult to push everyone over the edge.
That's a pass for me. Lay down another $60 for Forza 3, and what I get is:
a) Some Top Gear video, which will probably show up on youtube within 24 hours.
b) All the DLC, 75% of which were 2010 models, and half of those were made by Audi.
c) 11 new cars, 3 of which are even more Audi variants.
They couldn't even put in some new tracks?
I appreciate they like money, but there's nothing included in that to warrant the price tag.
In their defense on the track issue they said on a podcast a few weeks ago that DLC usually takes 9+ months to make, so most of the DLC was started before the game was even out and they didnt know that there would be a huge demand for tracks.
That's fine, but I'm not paying sixty bucks for 8 cars.
I'm thinking of making the shift to rFactor anyways, it seems like a better game in every way except perhaps vehicle selection.. which is something I care less about as time goes on.

I can see the ultimate edition not being worth it if you already have the game and some (or all) of the DLC.
But me? I'm getting the base game, 2400 MSP worth of car pack DLC plus the Motorsport Legends, Benchmark and Sidewinder packs as well as the fantastic Nurburgring GP track AND those ten new cars.

If both are yes I think I'll pick this up since I see it at the local Half Price Books all the time.

I did not know such a thing existed but I just googled it and apparently it does work! VeeVee you are a genius!
*edit* although I'm getting conflicting reports on wheather force feadback is supported

Acid's the big mover this week. From 10th to 8th. And I'm going to have to trounce Keml0 on Maple Valley to get 3rd back.
Though Acid and Scatman left me sweating bullets in the last 2 laps.
