With the SBC coming to a close on Tuesday we need to think about the next series. The idea that I believe we've agreed on is keeping all upgrades to street, well I give you the Penny Arcade Street Cup:
Car Restrictions
Any car that is FWD or RWD (After upgrades, so an AWD car that has a drivetrain swap is ok)
Any car(No trucks/SUVs) that is from the year 2000 or newer
Upgrade Restrictions
D Class
Engine and Tire upgrades are restricted to street upgrades only (NO Sport or Race)
Engine Swaps are ok
Control upgrades (shocks, springs, etc) and Transmission upgrades are restricted to Street or Sport only (NO Race)
Race Day
NO qualifying
NO pit requirements
The race will be a set of 2 races lasting 20-30 minutes each
Race #1 start order will be random
Race #2 start order will be reverse lobby points, and the track will be the reverse of the first race
Caution rules still apply
The control and transmission upgrades being allowed to upgrade to Sport is because several of the cars I checked out didn't have any Street upgrades.
As for tracks, I'm not sure yet but I'm thinking one or two of the sidewinders, new york, Sunset short, Maple Valley Short and then one or two more
I think it would be better if it was limited to sport upgrades and C class.
That would at least give us some more room for tuning (the gear ratio at least, i don't know if sport suspension lets you fine-tune anything).
Oh, and is it cool with you guys if I (assuming the lobby isn't full) just pop in for the race on tuesday? I'd started building a car for it and everything before I realized this race is the last one.

But the tuning upgrades are already set as Sport in the rules, it's just tires and engine upgrades that are street limited. And the only tuning options with Sport upgrades is tire pressure, final gear ratio, and acceleration differential (which also changes the Deceleration diff accordingly)
And as scatman said, we want a slower race than B, and C is too close to B.
As for the 2000 or newer, the thinking is that the last series was 1980-2000 so to be different I think either Older than 1980, or newer than 2000. If people want to open it to any year or something that's fine, but I'm putting my vote in for 2000 or newer. Plus I've got a D-Class Renault Clio set up for this series (by the rules I put out which are subject to change if the group wants it) that I really want to run
Plus I've got a D-Class Renault Clio set up for this series (by the rules I put out which are subject to change if the group wants it) that I really want to run
If thats the case I've got a SVT focus that would be perfect for this event, knowing that I may cause mass hysteria and damage to the entire field
Hey Vee, I what if the engine options don't have street upgrades but has sport?

Man, I have pretty much never dabbled in FWD, but this fucking Neon is quick.

dude some pit manager just got his ass fired. . . Ferrari just lost the championship for their class when they ran out of gas at the last corner on the last lap. . .

That was awesome, they had the manufacturer points championship if he won.

Find a different engine?

The engine swaps for the Focus pretty much goes from stock to 260 HP to the ~450 HP 5.0 Cammer. You can put a 7.0L Z06 engine into the Aveo.

I do like those rules but it'd be nice to have the age cut off a little older. . . I see some cars from the 1990's that I'd want to field. . .

Again, let's just yank the age restriction off and make an "outlawed" list. Anything under 2100 pounds stock, IMHO. Keeps the Elan out, as well as a few others.

later or Early 90's? Because I think 1995 to present wouldn't be bad
I think 1990 and newer would work if we outlawed the E30 .
Plus that would open for the Miata, Civic, MR2, Savanna RX-7, CR-X, Mk. 2 Golf, S13 and S14 Silvia, Celica GT-Four and a few other pretty awesome cars.

I have the Contour engine (a nice engine, fyi) in, cause the I5 would put it in the C class area, but I have played around with it and would like to do a comparison just so that it is balanced.

don't forget the civic del sol!!!!
I'd be just as happy at 1995+ as 1990+
though it'd be totally awesome to be 1987+
Buick
also, why the hell is the acura integra 10 points higher than the honda one when it's lower power/torque but otherwise identical? Is it because cool headlights add like 15hp?

It could be opened to 1990 to present, but I'd like to ban the cars run in the previous series. That would mean the RX-7 and Silvia
Although the big restricting factor will be finding a car that can upgrade to 350 with the limited type of upgrades. We'll also have to trust that the other racers are following the rules since there is no way to enforce a certain level of upgrade restriction.

would that mean the supra as well, I also found one car so far that meets the current rules, Saab 9-3 Areo

Hey dudes, it's been a while. I was taking a forza break for a bit, then my xbox finally died. I recently got one of the new slim 360s and got my all my saves/dlc sorted again on it. I haven't had much time to race lately but hopefully that will change. Glad to see some of my leaderboard times are still holding up
I saw some talk about getting into rFactor. It's something I've considered often as well. I tried it a year or two ago, but didn't know anyone else playing. I always liked the customization aspect of forza/GT and didn't think I'd be into a sim that didn't have it, but lately I've been more interested in just the racing aspect. So a more hardcore sim like rFactor sounds great right now. I tried the new F1 game briefly but I wasn't totally in love with the simulation (definitely need to spend more time with it though).
Anyway, I'm down to join you guys with rFactor (or any PC sim) just let me know. It seems like rfactor.net has been down all day, so I haven't been able to grab the latest client.
what I meant was getting to D class with just street engine upgrades and sport/street upgrades for everything else. It sounded like you already have it at D Class, and more than likely have some Race upgrades in it
Alright I am officially asking that we be allowed to put Race suspensions on because not being able to adjust the camber = us skidding around for an hour every week

Nope. That's the whole point.
This may be one of the only times you'll catch me in a shitty rice-mobile, because FWD has the advantage at this horsepower level.
OH

The Mugen Integra is even more ridiculous than the FTO. Shit needs to be outlawed, quick-style.

This I agree with, should be more like 2000 and older.
Or just no restriction. I've got a Mustang and a few hot hatches that are a riot, but I'd also like to try some 'Muhrkahn Muscle.
Also, yeah, it's fine if you show up Tuesday, assuming we have room.

Also, should we say no adjustable downforce upgrades or should we allow those wings?
Edit: And I'm planning to run a race on tuesday after the SBC is over
*edit* wow I get exactly D350 with everything upgraded as much as the rules allow except for my Oil and Cooling.
Basically, if you can adjust the springs and rollbars and individual gear ratios during tuning you upgraded too far.
*edit* oh god why did we think FWD without being able to adjust your suspension was a good idea?
*double edit* RWD conversion makes it somewhat acceptable
