Best version of Tetris on the market

So I got into a verbal arguement with one of my coworkers yesterday regarding Tetris. He says Dr. Mario is the best version of Tetris and I say that the best is the original version.

What do you think is the best version of Tetris out there!?! Bonus points for supporting me!! :P:P

Tetrisphere is the best version, ever. Dr. Mario isn't even Tetris, your friend is silly. It's still a damn good game though, I'm glad a version of it was included in Brain Age 2.

I'm throwing my support behind the only version that I think I currently own.
    3D_Tetris.jpg
Stop looking at me like that.

Also, the original is superior to Dr. Mario because of Korobeiniki, if nothing else. And the fact that Dr. Mario is indoctrinating our children into a lifestyle of drugs. Don't do drugs, kids.

I've never really considered Dr. Mario to be a "version" of Tetris personally.

As far as "real" tetris goes, I have to agree that Tetris DS is my favorite and probably the best. Haven't played Tetrisphere though.

What do any other versions of tetris, available right now, have over Tetris DS?

People enjoy the original Tetris because there was no "infinite spin" in that version. Understandable and a good point. However I don't personally think infinite-spin really fucks things over too too much, and the whole package of Tetris DS together makes it my favorite personally.

Fuck those little bastards. They were like little scissors, drill people and the last boss was just an angry face.

I have a copy of DS and every time somebody mentions it I have to whip it out all over again and do another 200 lines.

I should pick up Picross DS. I never played a Picross but people speak highly of Picross and it's DS rendition. Its full of little nostalgia-gasms like Tetris DS is.

How could it not make sense? Its tetris but on a sphere. Easy as that. It had the best vs battle out of any tetris, evar! Period. I cant remember how many fights with friends at the uni I got over that damn game.

I'd say Tetris DS, with the caveat that if you prefer a single-player experience sans infinite spin, you should find the original Tengen Tetris.

    Failing that, though: http://www.tetrisfriends.com

Other than Tetris DS lacking the original 'Type A' music, it's pretty much perfect.
Yeah, yeah - There's a remix for one of the later levels but simply not having the iconic version that's identifiable by everyone is a huge miss for me. Nintendo's normally so on the ball with this that it's still a sore spot with me. It's even in Brawl, fer Christ sake!

Tetris ds doesn't really get to 20g. To this day, I'm annoyed it isn't in the states. I never got to play tetrisphere but I hear it was fantastic. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too.

I would play this for hours against my friend when this game came out. I had little colored blocks burned in my retinas.

And infinite spin in classic tetris is fucking cheap. Achieving high scores while abusing this is not something anyone should ever brag about.

This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen. The Tetris part and the ending were brilliant. Kind of some filler in the middle, but even that part was better than most of the programs we did when I was in college marching band. It's a shame that no matter how awesome your band is, and no matter how it sounds on the field/in the stand that day, the sound on the video is always shit.

Also, original Gameboy Tetris forever. <3

Haha yeah I hear ya. Well at least you can tell that they are playing that classic Tetris soundtrack!

Have you heard about that Tetris program that lets you put a picture of yourself onto an actual Tetrimino?
