iTunes movies in proper resolution now?

With Apple TV, has Apple gone and changed the resolutions on the iTunes video content to look good on something other than an iPod screen (only thing that's been keeping me from buying videos on there) or are they only planning on doing it when AppleTV ships in Feb?

    the itunes videos have been available in 640x480 for awhile now. it's still a bit short of the 720x480 (or 720x540) of full res video, but the video looks pretty good running on a standard TV.
