Hot off the blog press . . . if there is such a thing . . . its my Top 10 Unfilmed Comic Book Properties. This was written with studio execs looking to plug up empty slots with comic book properties which may be up for grabs soon. I'd really appreciate as many comments as possible on the blog, because frankly, it makes me look good in my editor's eyes.
Jeff Bridges. I saw it on HBO back in the day and I cannot for the life of me remember anything about it other than he was a man from the stars with glowy eyes. I agree with Green Lantern and Nextwave.
Yes, there was a Starman, but no, it had little to do with the James Robinson comic. In fact, it was an 80's John Carpenter sci-fi romance, so no, definitely little to do with the coolness that is Jack Knight.
Watchmen: The Live-Action movie is being made. Depending on your faith in Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead, 300), this is either a good thing or a bad thing, especially since the previous script by David Hayter (X-Men 2) is being reworked and the movie is going to be a single installment under two hours.
I remember the website they used to have up with the big blooded smiley.
I just believe that the only way to properly honor that movie would be to do it in an animated fashion. They could adapt it like DC is going to adapt a ton of it's own classic DC stories to an animated fashion.
As long as it's not done like Ultimate Avengers (and it shouldn't; that was Marvel, not DC), I'll be happy.

Why does it have to be animated? I think it's one of the properties that would have less trouble being filmed in live action than others like X-Men or Superman.
It always seemed like the problem with adapting Watchmen would be whether to do it in a movie, multiple movies, a miniseries, on TV, or whatever. Not whether or not they should do it live action or animated.

That movie wasn't based off of and had nothing to do DC's Starman

Moore read Hayter's Watchmen script and said it was the closest that it ever could be to the comic.
Which of course means they are going to change it completly.

I like this idea. Im not sure it has to be animated to be good, but it would sure make it easier.
Someone else had the idea that instead of doing it as a movie it should be done as a series on HBO. That sounded like a really good idea to me, it would let them tell the story while being true to the source material.
It goes without saying that the first part of the film should me narrated by what appears to be DP's inner monlogue, until another character angrily asks just who the hell he's talking to.
An in-character Deadpool commentary on the DVD would be essential.

So like I said, good news, bad news.

Man, is anyone more constantly shafted in Hollywood than Alan Moore?

Lindsay Lohan, but only in the literal sense.

That almost sounds like...like Alan Moore liked something. Almost.
these are the end times.
