I've been opening up my first tech to phoenixes against zerg the past couple of games and it has worked surprisingly well. The last game the zerg went heavy into anti air when I flew my first couple of ones by him, and I simply went back and focused on my ground forces and teched up to HTs and chargelots. He massed hydras, and we traded expos before I came back and vaporized his hydras with psi storm. He tried to tech switch back to roaches, but it was too late at that point.
Phoenixes are really nice for screwing up zerg macro and keeping an eye on the map so they don't pull any surprises on you, as well as clearing out any scouting overlords.
The one thing to look out for if you're going for a phoenix heavy strat is moving out before you have enough of them to do any real damage. Just kind of like how if you were going heavy sair in pvz you would wait till you got 5 to move out.
Every 2v2 game I play has seen the other team as favored. I am copper rank 6, so the problem may be finding somebody who sucks as much as me, but i find it weird. Anybody else having this happen?
I have the same thing with 1v1, and I'm in bronze. Every single match I have played, the other player has been favored. It's weird, but also nice because I only get -2 or -3 if I lose, but +20 if I win.
Nony is awesome. He won the second Team Liquid Starleague which was the biggest SC tournament outside of Korea, and won an earlier tournament where he won the chance to go to Korea to become a progamer. He got second in the Courage tournament there (first place gets a pro license that lets them become a progamer), which is crazy because usually the first time people go there they lose almost immediately. He ended up coming back to America to marry his girlfriend, I think.
Basically he is a huge baller
Hey Mr. Nony fanboy it was Idra not Nony who won a tourney to go to Korea.

Are the portraits broken right now on B.net? All I ever see is the blue hologram portrait on the load screen. I never see anything else.
Also, where do the decals appear? I selected them under my rewards menu, but I have no clue where they actually appear at.
In general, I think they need to add a bunch more unlockables. I don't know what they would tie it to, but the offering is pretty meager right now. Maybe I've just played too much MW2.

Argh, I was reset, and right after a glorious triumph over a highly-favored zerg.
Also, someone from PA tried to message me in-game and I said I'd get back to them later. I can't figure out who that person was anymore. Feel free to message me again if that sentence describes you.

No, Nony also won a tourney like that, the Spirit tournament. It wasn't WHOEVER WINS GOES TO KOREA it was like they'll pick someone who impressed them from the tournament but it was pretty much whoever won went to Korea.
So after getting my ass handed to me game after game, I found one strategy that is working almost every time: investing everything into putting out three gateways, and pumping zelots with chronoboost, not even bothering to get gas, and just sending wave after wave at the enemy. Generally, they die in two waves. Obviously this is a super noob way to play, and putting all of my eggs in one basket. But winning feels sooo goood.

I think it is all bugged out. Because sometimes I log in and have friends, sometimes I don't.
Once I logged in and profile was someone else's for some reason.
Whatever, battle.net is crazy, anyone up for a friendly game?
EDIT: What happens if you select I'm a pro before it does your placement matches?

protoss seem especially weak to MnM(nM potentially) and the collossus seems pretty unreachable to counter the build, and I've been racking up points spamming it whenever the opponent picks protoss...what counters should I be scouting for so I don't get caught by surprise?
Is there anywhere that shows you what your win percentage is vs. each race? Or win percentages on maps? All I see is it telling which map I've done best at, but I crave more detailed statistics.
Because you complimented my OP, I'll help you decide a race:
Protoss - Powerful, but expensive units, economy focused more than the other two races. They will stay alive longer in a battle which helps beginners out. Be prepared to run out of money fast so expanding to new areas is a must.
Zerg - Weaker units, that are much cheaper, very aggressive. They die quick, but are meant to. Use your overwhelming numbers to win. Fastest tech switches in the game (ie. going from ground units to air units). Not easy to start with. Expanding all over the map to increase income and boost unit producing buildings.
Terran - Middle of the road race. Best defensive units in the game, but causes new players to sit in their base while the enemy takes all of the extra money on the map eventually over running the Terran. Typically not the best in direct combat, requires a lot of scouting to not get caught out of position.
This is just of course a general idea of the races. Basically, choose one that relates to your style and jump in there and have fun.
I think I want a race that I can annoy other players with
What's a good harassing race?
Also, I didn't see build orders posted, is there a good one stop shop for build orders to get me up and going?

I had someone try this against me. If they get Marauders with the Concussive Shells (which I usually have just after my first Marauder), you have no way to win. I'd recommend against that vs Terrans.
I didn't know this until just now, but I'm still pretty new so this might not be a big shock to anyone else. I just got decimated by a dude just now. I'm in bronze league and he absolutely annihilated me. I said in-game to him: "You're pretty good for bronze league" to which he replied "I'm in placement matches right now. I was in gold league before."
Ok so that really bothers me. Here I am a bronze league guy, which means I suck, and I get matched up against a guy in a placement match who belongs two whole leagues above me? That's fundamentally broken. I guess I was under the impression that people in placement league played against other people in placement league. I didn't realize they got paired up against rated people.

they have to play placement matches against people who are already ranked for an easier time of finding a good spot for you
ie this guy wrecked 2 copper players, beat but not as decisively a bronze player, but lost to 2 silvers
would probably go into bronze,etc
they could probably do it with all placement players, but you would get more incorrect placements

Yeah, that makes sense. But at the same time, I don't like getting sodomized by a guy who is two skill leagues above me. Seems like a waste of time. Sure, I can watch the replay and maybe learn something. But honestly, I'm not to that point yet. I don't even know what all the units do yet. Watching replays is something I might be interested in when I have a better grasp of the core mechanics of the game. But when I only have like ~15 games total to my name, its a waste of time to get beaten that bad.

Well iowa is also completely terrible so it's not that surprising. You are pretty non-threatening though ;O
i got beat by ultralisks just now it was shameful.
