protoss seem especially weak to MnM(nM potentially) and the collossus seems pretty unreachable to counter the build, and I've been racking up points spamming it whenever the opponent picks protoss...what counters should I be scouting for so I don't get caught by surprise?
If you are too maurader heavy then immortals will ruin your day. I had a pretty big back and forth with a terran who had that and he pushed me back into my base and blew up my robo bay, but I was able to wipe out his force with my remnants and pulling my probes and rebuilt strong enough to contain and beat him.
Chargelots and/or sentries to cut off your path of retreat can screw you up too. Later on colossi or templars can put you in a world of hurt if the game goes long enough.

I understand, but 2 reactor/1 tech lab doesn't take much guff from immortals, I imagine massed lots could counter, but the average toss is too tempted to get early gas.
NOTE: despite their limited use, Thors are easily my favorite unit. I pray that they're teching siege tanks or mutas so i can hear that voice. They also see some use swatting air that come for my tanks or banshees
Just finished up my placement matches, kinda flip flopped between zerg and protoss before settling on protoss, managed to win one game, got placed in copper. This game is ruthless if you don't know what your doing, I've ended up reading and watching more of this game then I have played it.
I do feel like I'm getting better though, the games I lose aren't -always- horrible losses now. I'm comfortable for the first 10 min of a game, but then I start to feel overwhelmed with all the macro/micro/decision making. Guess that comes with playing more?

How early of a push are you talking about? If you go for an all in he can block the choke with a forcefield and let his forces build up some. A good use of sentry can hold off a lot of early pushes, and it can cut off your escape and prevent kiting zealots depending upon the terrain.

Every 2v2 game I play has seen the other team as favored. I am copper rank 6, so the problem may be finding somebody who sucks as much as me, but i find it weird. Anybody else having this happen?
I've been pretty much constantly playing favoured players in 1v1 and 2v2 alike. Don't remember a single game where the opponent wasn't favoured.

Same here. Hanging around in upper gold, probably 95% of my matches have been against favored individuals.
Recently, I had two games that were "fair teams" recently. Perhaps the game is slowly zeroing in on my skill level...? Aim high and adjust lower slowly?
Nony is awesome. He won the second Team Liquid Starleague which was the biggest SC tournament outside of Korea, and won an earlier tournament where he won the chance to go to Korea to become a progamer. He got second in the Courage tournament there (first place gets a pro license that lets them become a progamer), which is crazy because usually the first time people go there they lose almost immediately. He ended up coming back to America to marry his girlfriend, I think.
Basically he is a huge baller
Hey Mr. Nony fanboy it was Idra not Nony who won a tourney to go to Korea.
No, Nony also won a tourney like that, the Spirit tournament. It wasn't WHOEVER WINS GOES TO KOREA it was like they'll pick someone who impressed them from the tournament but it was pretty much whoever won went to Korea.
Oh yeahhh he beat Cloud from Italy and then Cloud got all upset and quit SC then Nony like left Korea after like 2 weeks and Cloud was like WHAT THE FUCK MAN.

Really looking forward to the SP campaign for this. How's MP playing? I used to play a lot of SC1 back in the day but that was it for me for RTS. I tried getting into DOW2 MP but just ended up getting crushed a lot :-/
I just played a Zerg player who had me pretty freaked out. I did the usual—build up some marines/marauders and grab a few dropships while scouting the map and preparing to add tanks or vikings. I couldn't find his army anywhere, though (best way to annoy a Terran, by the way—don't let him know where your army is). I checked all the expos outside his natural and even fired off a scan at his base, but all I ever found were overlords spewing creep.
I finally marched into his base (stims finished) and he *had* no army to speak of. Just a few zerglings, a sunken or two, some roaches, and maybe 3 hydras. He was a total newb. I'm so used to getting attacked first by Zerg players (or at least pressured) that I wasn't sure what to do when he left me alone.

It's so temping as a zerg to just play sim city and use all your larvae for drones.
I have lost a couple games because I just keep building drones and never get an army.

I do this too, i like to try to time a hatchery finishing with 6 or 7 drones popping.

I demand to fight Akira/Shep for 2nd place!
EDIT: Also, if the dudes who were living streaming would upload the replays to youtube that'd be boss.

Because you complimented my OP, I'll help you decide a race:
Protoss - Powerful, but expensive units, economy focused more than the other two races. They will stay alive longer in a battle which helps beginners out. Be prepared to run out of money fast so expanding to new areas is a must.
Zerg - Weaker units, that are much cheaper, very aggressive. They die quick, but are meant to. Use your overwhelming numbers to win. Fastest tech switches in the game (ie. going from ground units to air units). Not easy to start with. Expanding all over the map to increase income and boost unit producing buildings.
Terran - Middle of the road race. Best defensive units in the game, but causes new players to sit in their base while the enemy takes all of the extra money on the map eventually over running the Terran. Typically not the best in direct combat, requires a lot of scouting to not get caught out of position.
This is just of course a general idea of the races. Basically, choose one that relates to your style and jump in there and have fun.
I think I want a race that I can annoy other players with
What's a good harassing race?
Also, I didn't see build orders posted, is there a good one stop shop for build orders to get me up and going?
Start Protoss. As for build orders, I've seen a few listed over the last couple of pages so just do some reading. You can also ask kindly for an opening build order from our resident Protoss players, just don't expect an answer right away.

Oh man. I just played a ZvZ. I went for a 14 Gas and speedlings, but he must have 10 pooled and rushed me. Barely held him off, when Banelings to counter, but he rushed to Mutas. Again, barely drove him off, and was so far behind I thought for sure I'd lose, but he let me expand twice, and rebuild hydra, while he kept right on building mutas and roaches, and later broodlords.
By the end, my gigantic hordes of hydras were EVERWHERE. It was awesome.

I find it exceptionally odd that broodlords benefit from air and ground unit upgrades.
Silly.

Ultras and what? I've yet to see an ultra actually fielded in a game.
He opened with roaches then mid game had roach/hydra/infestor. I killed his second expansion but he had a gold that i didn't see and when i attacked that he had 3 ultralisks out and tons of lings.
really since he had the gold for so long he could have kept with hydras and probably won. ultralisk/ling didnt do terrible though. ultras are easy to kite but a surround with the lings wont let you do that.
So, I got reset. Heh, no problem. Did my placement matches again, was placed in a league higher than before. But then, I logged out and logged back in, and it took me to my old record and league. Are there now two quine.quine's out there?
the most satisfying thing in the game is seeing a thor sniping your air units from wayyyy behind the terran's wall, by his CC, and then neural parasiting it

I don't know what that word means, but if it's not an overlord spawning creep out it's butt hole, it doesn't look like Glenn Beck.
Seriously, Zerg is so much damn fun. Got to love spawning like 20 Mutalisks against a turtle Terran and just fucking up his day.
And yes, I know I was just crowing yesterday on how awesome Terrans were.... fuck that guy!

I think it was...
1st Sarcastro/unknown (in the OP?)
2nd Akira/Shep
3rd Munkus/Stig

in this 2v2 i played where munkus got dropped they went broodlord carrier and i just rolled over them with 3/3 hydras and infestors.
Silly.
2v1.
I think we should go back to 1v1 until we can get some 8 player ffa on though.
We should try 2v2 RT, every match you'll get a random partner thats progressed as far as you are in the tournament.
Just a suggestion
im famous guys

I'm up but I fancy 2v2 a little more, want?
Nah, not really. Been doing mostly 2s, and really need practice on my 1v1.
Anyone else have this problem?
then stomping around in his base
They didnt do terrible, terrible damage?
Also, peep mark dodging Toons up there. Booya.
