Here are my build orders that I am currently using, I am still modifying them to suit my needs:

    10 overlord
    10 spawning pool
    13 queen
    15 ling x3
    #immediately be aggressive with lings
    18 overlord
    18 gas
    20 hatch
#if aggression with lings reveals a possible push, drop 1 or 2 Spine Crawlers at expo
#if 2gate, delay lair and drop a roach warren to get roaches to not die.
    25 lair
@at 100 gas, research metabolic boost
@once Lair is 50% drop Gas
    25 overlord
@once Lair is done, drop Hydralisk Den then Infestor Pit

    10 overlord (+ gas trick)
    13 pool
    15 gas
    14 overlord

Survived a 6 pool on incineration zone, then a prolonged hide-the-photon cannons-in-your-base cheese on Steppes of War. After so many regular games, my heart rate wasn't ready for this kind of excitement. Still, surviving cheese feels so good.

Can anyone point me to, or throw out, a basic zerg build order? I know it varies based on several factors, but just a general idea to work with. I want to start playing Zerg, but in limited testing, doing an initial order anything like my regular Protoss is not good.

Check out Team Liquids site, they got a good wiki with a couple Zerg builds I use:
Fast Expand, good on larger maps:
    10 - Overlord
    15 - Spawning Pool
    16 - Expansion Hatchery

10 Pool, good on smaller maps
    10 - Spawning Pool
    10 - Overlord
    12-14 - Zergings, go attack

I've been having fun with a no gas fast expand in TvP, followed by a four rax marine>marauder push with a few vikings. Works especially well on Lost Temple and Steppes of War.

So I don't know if anyone's mentioned this (because I'm sure this affects about 2% of all the people interested in SC), but the client is now available for Macs. If you have a beta key, you can use it to get access to the Mac client. I have one, and am currently in the process of DLing it.

With that said, I'm experiencing incredibly shitty download speed. It got to 500mb in about 20 minutes, now it's taken me like 5 minutes to download 1 megabyte. The connection info says I'm downloading at a speed of 8kb/s and i'm not downloading anything else. It says "no probelms with connection". Anyone know what gives?

I just had the weirdest sc2 match of my career so far. Blistering sands opponent is random and ends up as protoss, I get a good MMM ball going with some thors after a couple early skirmishes and attack and destroy his base but lose most of my forces to DTs before I scanned and my main command center to void rays. I knew he took the NW island earlier and he built a giant turtle with cannons and warpgates everywhere. He flies warpprisms around attacking my expos and building his own as I slowly get siege tanks to blow a space to land clear and medivacs and maurauders. I probably could have ended the game earlier but I was nervous about the d-day and it was just so ridiculous I wanted to see what he would do next.

Had a rockin' 2v2 with randoms. And by rockin' I mean I fucking owned that shit. My ally was pretty good but got hit hard by air rushes and I had to help him out with Hydras. Our opponents kept making marines and void rays to mess with my ally and I kept pumping saving him and expanding. Eventually, my teammate broke the backdoor rocks to the terran and did a Baneling bombardment on his supply/mineral line and literally crippled him for the rest of the game. He had 1 burning CC with an SCV building just in time to repair it.

After that I Nydus'd the Protoss and dumped like 100 cracklings into their bases. Felt good seeing the results after that. Also a good way to end the night.

Extremely? It cuts off a couple of seconds to the build/cooldown of any building you use it on.

It'll even cut the cooldown of warpgates if you use it on them.

    You should use it often.

I use it exclusively for probes and research, myself. That way I have some saved so I can use it on emergency backup units.

It's 50% faster build time for 20 seconds. So yea, it's useful.

Using it on your first few Zealots is a great idea. Once you get a couple nexus' up, Chain Chronoboosting Colossi or carriers, whatever is killer, on top of a pile of warpgates (8-10) = serious unit production.

Man, 2v2 is nowhere near as fun as 1v1. It's very hard to harass anyone in a 2v2 unless you have extremely good communication with your ally and you're at similar skill levels. Otherwise it turns into you harassing by yourself and losing since you've got two opponents to react to it. It seems that every game starts with a build-up, then a decisive battle and that's that. The larger size of the maps doesn't help either (and my crappy processor severely limits my ability to enjoy or even participate in a late-game macro fest).
