although I guess that is kind of invalidated now that the some lookouts that you didn't like is part of more lookouts that could have been what you wanted in the first place, but now it's some more lookouts which might not be as good
why didn't you like the guest comics, btw?
I'm more of the school of thought that no something is better than bad something. See the second series of Jericho, they did not have the means to do the series justify so they are left with something comically bad marring what was a very nicely started concept.
I would rather not something than a crude imitation which only serves as a reminder of what could have been.
The follow up Lookout comics either reveal that the concept itself was not quite what (most of) the readers believed (which is terribly sad) or that the guest artist/writer did not understand what was appealing about the comic. Much of what was enjoyable was the rhythmic prose and very focused art, both of these elements were not to be found in the follow up comics.
I'm not saying that the Guests are without talent, but their take on things was confused and uninteresting and really fell down as a webcomic released piece by piece rather than all at once.

on top of my being bad, my computer freezes for 3-5 seconds almost every time a new unit is made and shit
it's so frustrating and i have no idea why it is happening
Whaaaat? Seriously? What the hell.
yep. awesome!
Hmm.
Well, I haven't won a game in like 3 days. So...
Play some random 2v2's Justin, if you get a good partner it will help your confidence a lot. So far I have overall 7-4 with the custom games included. A lot of it is luck and who you play against. Worse comes to worse through up a replay into the SC2 thread and have them go over it and give you pointers. It helps a lot.
computer freezing when units are made? i don't even understand why that would happen
like, shouldn't a computer that does that freeze up immediately upon even conceiving of starcraft 2?
i think it's the audio file being loaded off the hard drive?
like, it seems to happen before an audio file plays. like it'll happen and then "we require more minerals" will play or whatever
Oh God, every time the audio plays? What about music?
Considering how long it took you to install this is a lame solution but I would suggest reinstalling the game.
i have it on my backup hard drive. i wonder if i should install it on my main one?
What I would try first is copy and pasting everything to the main drive and see how that works. It's much faster. Also maybe check your audio drivers for an update? In fact update every driver you can think of. Is the backup drive external?
No, it's internal.
And like I said I just checked my main HD. No dice there. It's only a 40 GB HD anyway.

I really like the way the guest lookouts looked but goddamn if it wasn't hard to parse what was going on
also yeah, it lacked the wonderful prose of the first one
still
I hold that Jim Darkmagic is the one that would have worked best as something lasting only two or three strips
lookouts and automata could both fill a book

Man I can't win at either 2v2 or 1v1. It doesn't matter what I play. Either I make the wrong choice of units (Hydra/Roach vs. Colossus) or I simply get out macroed.

Mike is there any way you can make space on that hard drive, maybe transfer some stuff over to the backup drive? It would be a very good idea to isolate whether or not it's the hard drive or the installation itself that's causing problems.
Yup, Honda's are more reliable than pretty much anything but a Toyota which sacrifice the souls of young Japanese children to their dark gods for the reliability.
Hondas can take a real beating if you care for them
boring but hells of reliable. I've had some minor problems with my 2003 civic (airbag computer needed to be replaced, battery died) but otherwise it's trucking

Janis Joplin is also a good suggestion.

If in my travels I should encounter God, God will be raked.
Their servers are down and I can't install the character builder.

Yes.
So much of starcraft is checking out your opponent's base and then hearing "I have returned" and being all oh my dragoon is done, lemme hit spacebar
Or just beat them down with their own gun

Honda anything is reliable.
I know, it's not an ideal solution by any means but it will narrow down the issue.
expecting to be safe
then suddenly, light starts coming through fresh holes in the vent and you're all SHIIIIIIIT
