Looking for a router

Hey everybody, my current router at home is a piece of crap, half the ports don't work, the antennae have fallen out and are dangling around, and it disconnects on average every 10 minutes or so, taking about 3 minutes to reconnect/restart itself, making online conversation and gaming near impossible. I don't know too much about routers, somebody else configured my current one but they're not available now - the most I've ever done is altered some NAT settings. So, in effect, what I'm looking for is a high quality router with wireless capability, that is humanly possible for me to set up, can be bought at a local store instead of ordered online (to avoid shipping times - I'm going back to college in a week and my brother needs the router,) and that has a strong wireless signal (which I'm hoping is standard these days.)

And to make things easy on the eyes:
-Good quality
-Wireless capability
-Easy setup
-Sold in stores

Thanks!

I like Linksys or DLink routers, you can buy a decent b/g at bestbuy/futureshop/circuitcity.

    DLink:
DI-724U - Wireless b/g router with QoS (useful for VoIP)
    DI-624 - Wireless b/g router, 108Mbs, good basic model
    DI-524 - Wireless b/g router, 54Mbs, good basic model

If you really want to get fancy, you could go for the DGL-4300, which is a Router/WAP designed for Gamers. It features Dlink 108Mbs wireless G, and 4 copper gigabit ports for wired connections. It also features something called "GameFuel" which apparently prioritizes routing for game data over other local network traffic (so if you play games and your parents try and download a 10 meg email, it shouldn't lag you out of WoW, theoretically).

    I use a 524 myself,

My experience has not been good with D-Link routers. Your mileage may vary but in particular, with my D-Link WBR-1310 I have had problems with:
    • the router crashing when trying to access the control panel.
    • the router crashing when too many connections have been created (which happens a lot with applications like bittorrent).
    • the router refusing to allow me to log into the control panel.
Maybe I have a bad unit or something but I would recommend against D-Link.
