Do Lag horns ever drop for the village quests? I need 3 to complete my Lag armor set, but for the life of me none ever drop.
I think I've gotten one each time I've fought him. Pretty sure you get them by breaking his horns (would make sense), so what you do is pit trap him on land then hit him in the face over and over.
Also, I don't know how they did, but every weapon in this game looks awesome.
I just got my Lagiacrus lance, and sometimes I just stop and look at it. It's so pretty.
They did it by cutting 80% of the other existing weapons from the previous games, which just happened to cut the stupid looking weapons. Like many Gunlances, for instance. Or the Teddy Bear. Or the Polytan Hammer.

The Boat Paddle reigns supreme! I've used it in over 200 hunts. Luckily, the Ananta Boneblade is a fine substitute in Tri. The last weapon I'll use before 6 star.
EDIT: Also, the Corn Gunlance, the Vacuum Striker, and the horribly ugly Tigrex weapons.
Had some good times earlier, helped AH level up some 2 star action, and then grouped up for some gig and barioth hunting. For both having a lancer and paralyze is fucking handy as all get out.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I don't know how the wii works, could they possibly add stuff through updates? Or maybe add-on discs?
If capcom were to add g-rank content to MH3, they'd probably do like they did for previous versions and release a new disc like they did the special edition of devil may cry 3.
Hey, I'm on the OP list twice! I know it seems like I play twice as much online as anyone else, but I don't want to give people the wrong impression. *grin*
EDIT: I think Dracil is also on the OP list twice. Maybe that's why the US list is bigger than the EU...
It seems to be more generalized now, in terms of Food buffs. For example, Meat and Meat combinations seem to give a large Health buff (the first two choices on the list). Meat and Drink (last choices on the 2nd page) gives Health and Attack buff. Meat and Bread (bottom two choices on the 1st page) give Health and Stamina.

Man, I need to get past the 1-star quests but nobody's ever on to give me a hand
I'm actually really damn close to 4 star quests. The only 3 star ones I've done just happened to be the ones I needed. Just have to go up 3 HR ranks.
Though I'm kind of disappointed I've only killed the 3 star monsters once each. I really want some of their gear.
I want to farm up some rathalos, need a couple fire weapons, but wouldn't mind shanking some barioths for their spikes.
One big tip I can give anyone, EAT FOR GOD SAKE EAT! Food buffs before a quest are hella useful.
Except for when the food ends up giving you 75% health and 50% stam
That does suck. But I do like how it keeps track of the combinations you've tried. By the way, just so everybody knows, the ingredients are arranged in pairs. Two meat, two fish, two grain, two vegetable, two milk, two 'drink.' So if two ingredients you want to use aren't labeled fresh, you can sometimes pick the other one in the pair and get the fresh bonus
So I got in a group and fought my first Great Baggi... is that pretty much just a faster Jaggi? I know one of the little minions spit on me, making me sleepy, but the GB didn't seem to do much other than regular Jaggi moves.
If I was going to go out and spend some time gathering, just shoring up mats for pots and ore and stuff, how useful is the leather armor? Is it worth it to buy a full set, or are the boosts pretty negligible?

It also does the occasional sleeping spit.
Also I find it does consecutive tackles more but thats about it that I noticed.

Gem it with +whim and +gathering then equip it on every gathering run.
Your axes/nets last longer, gathering is quicker and each node gives up more stuff.
So I was watching someone play Tri today on Justin TV, and it seemed like they might have made the game "easier". Which is to say room for more mistakes? Is this true because I often feel MH:FU is a little bit too intense to really fully relax and enjoy sometimes. If it is "easier" than I might very well by a Wii for this as ever since I got MH:FU I have been hooked. If not I figure MH: P3 is end of the year correct? Thanks for getting interested in MH in general by the way everyone.

How can you gem it with both Gathering and Whim? Surely there wouldn't be enough points since Gathering gems come in 1pt increments and you have only five slots in the leather armor. I rigged it up with just Gathering.
I mean, when's the last game where you fough a Giant Dragon WHALE in a boat by firing cannons and balistae, ram it with a giant Drill right after you jump onto his back and wail on him... ALL IN THE DESERT!?!
...But the he starts to bellyflop onto the ship, only you set off a giant gong that stuns him so you can jump into his mouth and start carving him alive, jumping out at the last moment arms flailing when he wakes up!
Also learned something useful in that fight, running ammo to the cannon and balistae: If you do that dodge where you make a huge leap and bellyflop onto the ground, you have an insanly long invul time, almost the whole duration of the leap, perfect if your trying to avoid a certain desert dragon whale's horns as he drags them across the ship deck.

With two Gathering decorations and one Whim decoration, the Leather set has Divine Whim, Gathering +2, and High Speed Gather. I'm not at home now so I can't check the materials, but I recall having the materials to make them onhand so it can't be too difficult to make them.
It's now my general purpose gathering set.
Now if I could find a charm with the skill that helps with carrying Eggs and such I'd be all set.

Gathering gem requires 1x kelbi horn and 1xaquaglow jewel. No idea about Whim.
So me decking out my leather set with all gathering was overkill? I swear I don't get this skill point doodad.
Had a blast with various people today, finished the rest of the 1* quests and did a run of the jaggi head quest, that was a nice haul from that. Many g.Jaggi and peco fell tonight, got my first peco armor piece as well. I love being a bowgunner.
I know this is a wierd question to ask, but how do you figure the chance of something happening once in a series?
Like... Earth Dragongem has a 2% chance of being carved from Jhen Mohran's body. you can carve his body 8 times... what are the odds at least one of those carves come up with a Dragongem?

Either datamining, or people just report a shitload of kills and you just average it out.

nononono, I'm not asking how they got to the 2%, I'm asking, if there is a x% chance a single carve will produce an item, what is the chance that at least 1 of y carves will produce the item?
'Cause I'd figure it out myself, but it's been too long since I've taken a math class.
So if you kill it 50 times you should probably get one
Edit: Chance of getting at least 1 from 8 carves is 1 - (.98)^8 = .149, so about a 15% chance.
Thank you! now I won't stay up all night wondering if I'm going to do Jhen Mohran till the day I die if I want a chance at that armor set :P
Too bad I can't apply that to Rathian/olos and Lag, since the two most likly chances to get their plates- standard quest reward and head breaking- is variable in how many parts you get for each one to begin with...
could someone explain the jaggi mask? or at least link to it on the MH wiki?
Its armor is low, but it has 10 points towards Fate, which is enough to activate Good Luck. Five more points from there will get you to Great Luck. Those skills make you get more items as rewards at the end of quests.
Edit: As a random bit of advice, don't sell or discard your Earth Crystals. You're eventually going to need hundreds of them.

You have to break his head and I think you have something like a 67% chance to get one in the quest rewards.
The way I farmed them was to break his head and chest and then end via subquest, takes about half the time of actually killing him.
I just got my Lagiacrus lance, and sometimes I just stop and look at it. It's so pretty.
And just in time for my day off tomorrow.
and the awesome boat paddle
