As the title might suggest, these forums load incredibly slow for me or usually not at all. It usually takes a few minutes to load a single page, and since I love this place, posting once every ten minutes isn'tfun. This is the only site that does this too, and for the life of me I can't figure out what could be wrong. (Not having enough ram might be an issue but come oooooooon.)
Doesn't matter what browser I use either, it still takes forever to show anything on here. So can one o' you fine chaps help me with this dilemma?
It's like a murder mystery. Performance is dead. Who killed her?
Prime suspects are either network-related troubles or browser-related troubles.
First: when the browser is sitting there doing nothing, what does the status bar say it is doing? Does the page render slowly but steadily, one comment at a time, or does it seem to sit and think for several minutes and then *poof* page?

It's the latter. Sometimes a page will load just fine, but usually it's got the status of "waiting for forums.penny-arcade.com" This didn't happen before I installed windows 7, and it's just kinda weird that it's only this site that does this too.
I'm using firefox and going through a netgear router though. (Not wirelessly, the cable modem is in my room with the router and I'm connected to the router via a delicious Ethernet cord. )

There could be a number of issues affecting this. Couple of diagnostic tools you can try
Grab Firebug, and use the network analyzer tell you if it's DNS, or http, etc. If it's DNS, perhaps you've got a lame IP stuck for your ISPs resolver in your router. If it's after you've contacted the server, perhaps the site's just crawling in, etc.
Use a traceroute tool to work out some running average ping times. Lost packets or abnormally high average pings are a bad sign. Note that the problem may only show up under bulk transfer conditions, so this isn't 100% indicative in the negative case here.
Take things you control out of the picture. Use the cable modem directly and see if that changes things. Remember, you might need to turn it off for a mintue or so to get the ISP to reset and accept the new MAC address when you plug your pc into it. Use a different PC, borrow a laptop, If it runs win7 and doesn't fail, that helps. Check for firmware updates for the router. Try a different browser, without plugins, etc. Chrome, IE, whatever.
If you can round off your end, call your ISP and ask, or ask a neighbour who uses the same service.

You could try using a different DNS server. Which one that will work the best depends on your location but try googling open DNS or free DNS.
