I have no idea why, but multiplayer in GRID isn't working for me. Whenever I join a game I am instantly kicked (at least that's what the message says) and if I try to create a game it says it couldn't connect.
I'm wondering if logging out and back in would fix it, but I'm not seeing any options for logging out anywhere.

On a lighter note, what are people's preferences for camera choice? Personally, I play every racing game I can with cockpit view. I find it adds an extra degree of caution & hence I drive (somewaht counter-intuitively) much cleaner with it.

Did you plug your CD Key into Live?
GRID doesn't use Live. I made an account from inside the game and I did manage to play an online game two days ago, but now it's not working.

I made this same discovery during my Gran Turismo 3 days. I played that game obsessively, and always liked cockpit mode better. Every racing game since for me has been first person view.

I much prefer in-cockpit, and I wish Dirt had the bonus xp/winnings for only using that view.

I like a third person view so I can have a better spatial sense of where my car is. Unrealistic, sure, but it makes the crashes look a lot better as a side effect.
It varies. For games like Gran Turismo where it's super realistic, I like cockpit view, but more arcadey racers I like behind the car view.

I buckled. The Guild Wars deal is just too good to pass on, especially since I always wanted to play Factions and Nightfall.
Unfortunately this account linking stuff is bad news. I remember I had a pretty decent Warrior/Necromancer from about four years ago, unfortunately I have no idea how to recall that information. I'm pretty sure that Guild Wars account is not linked to my NCSoft account. Hmm...
Thanks to Tube's big ol' Hitman: Blood Money thread I just bought that game. This may have been the first time in 2010 I bought something on steam that wasn't on sale (even if it was $10).
Also really miffed that I missed another max payne 2 sale, which means I missed all three and hope is probably lost for getting it for $2.50.
After messing with the demo a bit more I guess I might have to buy Dirt 2. I finally started to get used to the slot cars on ice feel and actually one the point to point race.
Also The Lost and Damned is pretty fantastic. It's great to see the best character from GTAIV (Liberty City) from a whole different angle, and riding around on sweet choppers is fun.
DiRT 2 is supposed to be great, but it won't run on my laptop. How is the first one? I saw a youtube video showing a DiRT 2 race with a lot of branching/rejoining paths. Is the first game like that? Most of the YouTUbe footage of it appears to be on single-lane dirt roads in some sort of time trial mode.
Also, the amount of control one gains when manual-clutch is a feature is quite amazing.
I am doing automatic ATM, just so I can focus on keeping the car going where I want. I know how much manual helps with turns and proper control, but I'm just not there yet.

Dirt 1 is slightly more sim-like, as I feel the driving model is actually more realistic in the first game. I also miss the Hill Climbing races, they were an absolute blast. I also greatly prefer the asthetic, as I highly dislike the Dirt 2 "WHAD'UP BRO, CHUG SOME MONSTER" styling.

DIRT2 is pretty much what modern rally racing is all about aka WADDUP BRO CHUG SOME MONSTAR ALSO BABES EVERYWHERE
Like seriously I've never seen a racing suit hug an ass so tightly as the chicks hanging out by your trailer in DIRT 2, that's some custom tailored shit for boners right there.

It's called Rally, or some perverse XTREEEME version of it.

To me, Rally is completely insane Finns doing stupid things on ice.

Cockpit view. And I use TrackIR so I can look around.

The speed in DIRT 2 feels off. I can take hairpins at 40ish KM/H on gravel, something I would never ever be able to do in a real car. It kind of feels like they've multiplied the KM/H displayed by 1.5 or so, to make us think we're going faster.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I fell for the GTA Classics deal and am having issues getting my Xbox 360 controller to fully work with both GTA 3 and Vice City (and San Andreas eventually, I guess).
All I've been able to find as far as online advice is "Download Xpadder and tada!" So I downloaded Xpadder but it neither game will recognize the right analog stick even after Xpadder has theoretically remapped it to echo mouselook.
Is there something else I'm missing here, or is partial control support the best I'm going to get?

I had my 360 controller working perfectly in Vice City with Xpadder back when. You did go into Xpadder and configure it right?
Aww man I just saw that Beat Hazard is only $5 on the Xbox but $10 on Steam.
Can't complain to much though since I have been playing the game nonstop this weekend although it does look nicer on the tv.
Are there any other music games like this other then Audiosurf?
I thought at first that the 360 would be a better deal, but I'm finding it quite nice not have to put my music onto my 360. Though watching it on the t.v would be pretty awesome, and co-op too.

I honestly have no clue. I assigned all the buttons, and bound the left analog stick to WASD and the right analog stick to Mouse Up/Down/Left/Right, saved the controller profile, kept Xpadder on, booted up Vice City and the right stick still didn't register.
It doesn't help that Xpadder, or at least the free version, seems to be completely lacking in documentation.

Oh, I don't mind that. It's the full on 90 degree angle ramming that happens way too often that irritates me.

No, no, he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you... he rubbed you. And rubbin, son, is racing.

Hmmph. Me & my crude right thumbstick.
Funny thing is that I only ever drove manual shift cars in real life.
Not in your two wheel drive commuter sedan with economy tires, no.
In a $400,000 car built from the ground up to drive extremely quickly off road? Maybe.
Yeah, that.
Those are kickass rally cars. And Codemasters has been making rally games for decades.

I'm ready to get back into TF2. Any other Mac folks coming out of Steam retirement or is it just me?

No, and it's not really something they could patch. It's a physical problem.
Edit: Clicking one side or the other is actually clicking down the entire face of the mouse.

Me too
thankfully, I'm not using a mighty mouse
heh
The Steam forums board for this series is rather barren and was of no help.
Playing heavy would be difficult.
