Opposing Force and Blue Shift, but they only work with the original release of HL1. Also, it's really open to debate if they're official canon or whatnot, although they are pretty fun.

    Actually Blueshift should work standalone...

That's in the overlay (shift + tab when in-game). At the bottom there's a link open web browser.

But there is none when you're not ingame?

EDIT: To clarify. When I go to community or store or whatever I can see the goddamn address in a position where I'd expect an address bar to be, but I can't edit it.

Why would you want to use the main Steam window as a web browser? You have an actual web browser for that. The address bars are so you can copy the address and link to people or other stuff.

I have a lot of friends on gmail chat so it's pretty good to be able to start it through steam and then have it seamlessly follow me in and out of games. Alttabbing between games and Firefox is a bit shaky to say the least.

I like the new UI though, that they finally added a clock in the game overlay is excellent. Now they only need to add a timer.

Excellent price for an excellent game, I say. Should be crazy for next sales.

Wow the game is still on sale, if any of you guys would be willing to gift L4D2 to me I'd be able to pay you back later this evening or actually probably before that depending on when my bank account notices I've put money into it.

Someone was kind enough to! Whoo!

    Update is officially out.
I don't see a post on the website yet, but the RSS feed has this:
The 2010 Steam client is now live! The overhaul changes many things about how information is organized on Steam, and makes it easier to do the most important things on the platform, like play games with friends. We wrote up an overview of what's new, so definitely check that out so that you don't miss anything. As we've mentioned, the beta testing went well &emdash; participants suggested valuable changes and reported lots of bugs for us to squash.

We're very interested in your thoughts on the new client, so please stop by the forums to tell us what you think.

P.S. This is the first post in the official Steam Blog. It's hard for us to believe we've never had a blog until now. Anyway, watch this space for thoughts from Steam central. Coming soon: Mac!

I'm not seeing any links to the Steam blog yet, but that'll probably be changed quickly.

Dear God I need more time in the day. I have yet to sit down and digest Trine or actually get more accomplished in Beat Hazard.

Picked up Winterbottom on either Thursday or Friday but haven't gotten around to playing it (co-worker's wedding this past weekend). I'll have to poke around for World of Goo and Braid and see what prices look like.

I think it may be time to start properly populating my Friends list on Steam (I have a grand total of....1)

Do any of you have any sort of Vent-type server set up? (yeah, trying to restart my gaming career after 5 years in an MMO).
E: I also apparently can't read Stickies properly.

Winterbottom is great, but man can it be frustrating if you just can't figure a level out. I'm somewhere in the fifth world and needed to take a break because no matter what I tried just wouldn't work. My fiancee was playing an earlier level and at one point she slammed her fist on the desk, which is something I've never seen her do.

    Grraaah the new interfaaacceee noooooo.

It reorganized my friends list so now symbols go to the bottom rather than the top. This is less than optimal as the people I talk to the most are [UEAK].

Interesting Rock Star sale. If I didn't already have all the ones I'm interested in. Maybe if they do a cheap GTA 4 + Episodes deal.

Can't wait to get home and see the new Steam.

The first thing I thought about the new UI was "this looks an awful lot like the zune software". Surely I'm not alone here?

At any rate it feels like a big improvement, and it reminded me to delte my card details before the backlog got any bigger D:

I am excited for the official OSX release. I guess I could go download the beta somewhere if I wanted to, but I'd really rather just wait and use Crossover for now, even if it is a massive pain in the balls. Can't wait to load up Half-Life 1 and go through the tram sequence, revelling in the fact that I've waited almost ten years for a native code Half-Life to run on my mac(s).

Not that I haven't played Valve's games on other computers, but I want to play them on this one damnit! :-)

I haven't seen a definitive list of what games are going to be ported, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for HL1. That said, hopefully Valve will include Half-Life: Source.

Yeah, Half-Life: Source is what I was thinking and I can't imagine them not porting that over when the engine and all the accompanying Source engine games are coming too. If not, well, I guess I've got crossover if need be...
Half-Life Source kinda runs on weirder version of the source engine, IIRC. A side effect of being a HL1 era game ported to a pre-release source engine. It might be different enough that it can't be quickly swapped over to the Mac.

As said before, there are some expansions for Half-Life 1, but they're of debatable canonicity. They also don't really push the overall storyline very much, if at all. You can absolutely go from Half-Life: Source -> Half-Life 2 (->HL2: Episode 1 -> HL2: Episode 2)

Ugh. Playing Winterbottom, and just got to the level where
5,6, and 7 are on the left behind some crates, 4 is on the far right over a fire pit, and a seesaw in the middle lies under 2,3, and 1. And you only get one clone at a time to collect them all.

Finally figured it out after spending 30 minutes diagramming it in class instead of taking notes, but that level can go suck a bag of dicks.

At least in the UK, it's only £10 more expensive than just getting the episodes! Holy Hell, I'm sure this puts a ton of people in a tight spot. I myself have almost all the games in the collection in some form, but only the Max Paynes on Steam. So do I shell out £10-15 extra to have PC versions on Steam of all the superb games Rockstar has ever done?

Incidentally - it's been said before now, but this concept of 'you bought a pack of games and already own several, but we're not going to discount it at all or give you extra copies' needs to die. Just because it's digital distribution doesn't mean you're not buying more licenses to use some software, and these licenses are transferrable.

    Edit:
Rockstar Collection: According to our records, you already own one or more of the items included in this package on Steam. If purchasing for yourself, see the Extra Copies support article to determine whether the items you already own can be shared with friends.
EXTRA COPIES ARE NOT GIVEN IN MOST CASES.
ONLY TITLES PURCHASED IN SPECIAL PROMOTIONS AS OUTLINED BELOW ARE ELIGIBLE FOR GIFTABLE EXTRA COPIES
† Note: You already own the following items in "Rockstar Collection". You will not receive extra copies of these items when you complete this purchase:

At least they're more up-front about it now.
