Yeah I'm going to be using indigo and red. It was getting the stupid indigo that took me forever. The 5% though supposedly came from the guide. So that's what I'm imagining it will end up being. Indigo was supposedly 20%. It doesn't really matter though, because the way this game works is you never get what you need ever until all of a sudden you get more of it than you ever needed.

Got ending A yesterday, so I finally deemed myself worthy of playing the DLC. Wow, this isn't hiding the Drakengard connection at all. The normal game was just some references, but this may as well say "For more information please play Drakengard on the Sony Playstation 2!" Now it makes me playing Drakengard all worthwhile. Yeah I get your references game. You can't hide them from me.

Well everyone kind of dies in the 5th ending, it was mostly just a big troll. Like the whole thing was just an elaborate joke with how weird and abrupt the ending is, and the final boss that plays like nothing else in the game. However it set up for Nier to have a way better and more cohesive story which is all I could've wanted.

Yeah. Id still like to have seen him randomly and he just says "... .. ..... ...?" and then disappears when you leave the area. Course hes dead so.....but fuck that. Games crazy as it is. Death means nothing!

    I dunno

Caim would've probably died fighting once the whole Shade thing started happening.

    Motherfucker loves fighting.

PS Everyone who enjoys the story should go to the official site (www.niergame.com) and download/read the comics. The art is pretty offensively bad (remember when Kaine had huge silicone injection lips? Me neither) but they tell a fairly interesting story about the events in the 21st century that explain why Nier is important.

Oh hell yes, a Caim costume would be sweet.

Edit: The obnoxious gathering is SOLELY for the trophy/achievement for upgrading every single weapon to maximum, which is by far the hardest of all of them, and thus the main barrier to getting either the Platinum trophy or 1000/1000 GS.

You aren't really required to do any of it. If you're not aiming to perfect the game, there isn't anything that approaches grinding or farming.

So don't let it dissuade you! Buy away!

This man is right. Buy this game now. They must make more games! (or DLC........) but in either case I want more.

The quests are definitely not required although they will increase your playtime if that worries you. Just do the ones you think are easy enough and skip what you think will be annoying. There are quite a lot of quests so..

Just got Ending B. I loved it.
Yonah is just too adorable. The ending was incredibly sweet, and the way it just went to the credits on them eating cookies was nice. Whoever they got for Yonah's VA is perfect for her, it's a unique voice that just sounds great for a kid that's supposed to be sick and tug at your heartstrings.

Onwards to C and D! Is the final choice after the point of no return or before it? I need to make my backup save before it as well as transfer it to a flash drive before I get D.

Just got the game and borrowed my girlfriend's 360 to play it. Haven't gotten very far, but I like it! I just wish I could play as the guy from the first scene instead of the main character (who I really wish had a name, because I always feel awkward about naming characters). That first guy looked soooo much cooler. I mean, still gritty and manly, but less monstrously muscled and much more awesomely hooded.

The Father grows on you as ugly as he is. He's actually a great character for the most part but sort of winds up being a mindless brute in the longrun for some reason. Like he starts out seemingly smart and knowing but they turn him stupid as the game goes on it feels like...I dont know...But! I like him.

Also the naming thing is good actually. It adds a layer of personalization to yourself when playing as you go through during certain scenes/talking and stuff. You'll see.

Welp got the C and D endings. Eh. My order for endings goes B, A, D, C. I really liked the B ending, and C and D felt kind of tacked on. Like they went "Crap, we forgot to resolve this plot point! Better make two more endings!" Overall, I really enjoyed the game. I'm glad I bought it and I would semi-cautiously recommend it.

After you get Ending B at the very very end of your next playthrough you'll get two dialogue choices. The top one is Ending C, the bottom is D. You'll know if you're choosing D because it will ask you like 6 times if you're absolutely sure you want to choose it.

If you don't feel like playing through it again a third time though I say you can stop after getting Ending B. The second run adds a lot of extra dialogue and scenes, and it has my favorite ending. C and D really aren't anything special.

So people over on gamefaqs have apparently been translating some interviews and a big book for the game filled with information, and there's apparently a lot to the story beyond what we see in the game. Thanks goes out to the SA thread for Nier because that's where I found out about this. Should be obvious, but MAJOR SPOILERS.
Some things of note are that both Nier: Gestalt and Nier: Replicant are canon. Apparently Nier and Yonah are looping over and over, as well as the whole world. It's not consistent either and it can change them to be siblings or father/daughter. This is probably because the world is artificial and only supposed to be used to keep Replicant bodies alive until the disease that killed everyone off disappears.

The reason we had bosses named after fairytales was that originally the plot for the game was about worlds in storybooks being real and looping over and over, unable to change, and then a scientist wanted to free the villains.

Nier used to sell his body for money, until one day he basically discovered his talent at defeating shades.

There are 13 Grimoires, and Grimoire Weiss was apparently the soul of a man who was part of an experiment where a bunch of people were locked up together until they killed themselves, due to them being unable to communicate. He could communicate with one woman that was from his past, but another man used the Dark Lance spell and killed her. When that other man died he became Noir. All the people in the experiment could use the Sealed Verses.

Emil is supposed to be gay.

The book in the intro is Grimoire Schwartz, and there were a bunch of them made to test out the Gestalt process, but only Nier succeeded. All the other Shades were failures. Success is determined by whether or not the shades keep their memories.

There's a bunch more that will probably be revealed as more translations happen, but it's all really interesting so far. I'm surprised there's this much depth and I really hope they make more games to expand on the overall story.

This is quite interesting, really. It explains some of the strange details.
I always figured the very first book in the intro was Grimoir Noir. The voices sound the same, the Shadowlord has it later on, it can apparently separate body and soul... I didn't get a very good look at its cover, though- could've sworn it's Noir. Still, it explains where that third book in Emil's library came from.
It could mean that there's a total of eleven failed books out there, with only Noir and Weiss performing their intended function.

Also, "Schwartz"? Bwahahaha  Now I want to see eight other crippled words for black and white!

Another thing: if Emil is gay... then why does he mention during the king's wedding he'd like to marry a girl sometime in the future? Stop making pointless sexuality statements, Cavia!

Cavia seems to really have a thing for making characters sexual deviants in some way.
In US Drakengard they cut out the fact that Leonard is a pedophile and that your sister, your blood sister, was in love with you. This is really tame for them to just have someone be gay and another have been a male prostitute. As for Emil, they're just confusing him. First he's blind and the only ones he really cared about were his sister and a false mother that tortured them, and then he loses his body and gets stuck in his sister's skeleton. So he's probably a little confused and maybe by Facade he's starting to realize what he really is? I don't know, I think the interview said that they didn't get the Emil point across very well.

Okay guys, are you ready to have a ton of stuff explained to you and then also get more confused and really depressed? Because if so, have I got a link for you! It's the google documents link to translations of Grimoire Nier, and it has a ton of information. Here you go! Courtesy to gamefaqs for pretty much all the translations, and SA for giving me the link.

I only read a little bit but *Mega spoiler*
It confirms that humanity is fucked. Like 100%. Nier is the original gestalt, and I'm not sure who the Android is but they were apparently really important. Without Nier and the android no more Gestalts can be created, and Replicants can't reproduce. So Gestalts can't go back into their bodies and Replicants can only live until they die. It's really depressing when you realize that everything you did in Nier was destroying humanity one step at a time, until a father's love for his daughter causes him to destroy the only salvation for humanity.

I'm not sure whether these spoilers actually apply, even IF they came from the developers himself...
After all, it's Cavia. They're probably making up shit half of the time. While most of it DOES fit nicely into the game, there are some gaps:

    - The demonic element. It's mentioned that it stabilizes Shades, which is needed if they are to return to their bodies at some point. Supposedly, it also "cures" the Black Scrawl, which is kinda like a corrupted copy: the original human was a misfit for project Gestalt, so their copy suffers a similar defect.
But if it's correct that Yonah, once she's rescued, still suffers from Black Scrawl, then does that mean that the demonic element DOESN'T cure it, but is rather necessary all the time? So basically, the Shadowlord could never, ever return to his body, or humanity would "break down" all over again?

    - Replicants can't reproduce? So who brought the kids, then? Did Popola just knock on a couple's door one day and shoved a baby into their arms? Granted, the precise mechanics of baby making aren't exactly documented in-game, but something like that ought to raise SOME attention. Did the androids (that's Popola and Devola!) use some science fiction mumbojumbo from afar so that the replicants only thought they could have children?
    ...hm.

    - History repeats itself? So in other words, there's always a new Emil, a new Kaine, a new King of Facade, and the Shadowlord is destroyed all over again? Bullshit. This makes no sense whatsoever, especially given that Emil is more than old enough to witness all that (not to mention that he turns into this creepy skeleton puppet thing).

But seriously, some of that translated stuff is really nice. Although genuinely disturbing, at times.
You don't do that in front of people, Kaine D:

Seriously, smashing through the second half of the game takes no time at all, especially since you'll be way overleveled and have superpowerful weapons, like, say, the phoenix spear.

At least get ending B yourself. C and D are very similar, but the process that gets you to B is somewhat important.
