Hello I am Cyrus106, I have been LPing for Well over a year The only problem you may notice is my mic, and in my newer episodes (part 11+) I have a new mic that sounds a lot better. Edit: In even later parts, I had my power supply replaced and all the static in my videos in now gone!
Background:This is a horror mod for the PC game Half-life, I am a giant Half-Life fan(the first FPS I ever played)and have played it for many years .




*Intro to the game:
Your name is David Leatherhoff, and you're addicted to a new painkiller from a company unknown

They keep coming, and you can't stop taking them.

Lately you have started to experience illusions, dreams picking at your deepest and darkest fears.

Finally, you go to the Hospital, seeking help. First, however, you make a stop into the bathroom, where another bottle of pills awaits you, standing out like a beacon in the night in your depraved eyes.

When will it all stop?

Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut is a survival horror mod for Half-Life 1. It is an enhanced version of the original Afraid of Monsters.


•New monsters (no Half-Life reskin) and weapons
•Flashlight can only work with batteries that you pick up(FUCKING SHIT)
•Improved maps and totally new maps
•4 different endings and altarnate routes
•Random monster spawns(Oh no....)
•New hud, sprites, textures, sounds, models and animations
•And a lot of other improvements!

So, this LP will consist of me being scared out of my mind by this game, it doesn't actually get scary till you turn off the lights, then shit hits the fan! I take constructive critism well, and usually post one part every day/every other day. This is my second Let's Play


*Why I'm LPing this: I played the original version, which was an AMAZING horror game, the only one to actually scare me on a regular basis. It was developed by one person and was pure awesome. My friend on Youtube requested I play this, and I agreed to it, so here I am.

*Why I LP: I've watched many LPs, the first I ever watched was Cloud8745's Silent hill 2 LP, and it was very interesting.

Interesting, watching the first vid now. I have been curious about this mod for quite some time.

OK, I just watched the first two videos, and I enjoyed them. Gotta admit, I was skeptical about a half life 1 survival horror, but this game looks cool. The only thing is seeing you zip around and looking around really fast reminds me of how many times I played through half life 1, and how bad the motion sickness it gave me was.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to checking out the next videos tomorrow.

After watching the first two, my only criticism would be that the framerate seems a little choppy and this isn't helped by the fast aiming movement, it's kinda hard to keep track of where you're turning and stuff. Other than that it's all good, looking forward to seeing this through

I'd like to point out, that right now, your commentary is very forced. It doesn't sound natural at all. I understand you want us to shit our pants with you. But right now, the commentary is making me roll my eyes. You don't need to explain everything we see, we after all, see it in your video.


Also slow down the camera spinning stuff, its really jarring, I know its horror, but that shenanigans with the room with all the letters, you didn't give us time to really see it. It was one of the first real good setpieces of the mod, and you skipped by it without really doing much.


Bottom line, this is a roadtrip we're taking together, people are watching you as you do this stuff.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to watching this, and will offer any advice or solutions as needed

Yeah, I was kinda acting, sorreh. (reason why I'd restate things, act overly scared. It's not THAT scary) and I've noticed multiple people saying I move my mouse quickly. I would go slower but if you guys pay attention, I have VERY limited flashlight battery life, so I kinda have to rush to an extent. And the only choppy framerate I noticed was part 5(I will like that shortly) thanks for the feedback though! It's quite helpful.

Could you guys state either parts of videos or times where my mouse turns too quickly, so I can observe and change this? Would apreciate it.

On a side-note, part 5 and on I have planned co-commentary wih the guy that requested this LP of me. So my videos may change.

You actually did get good feedback. I've watched a couple, and the commentary once you get your co-commentator is ok and less forced, but you _skip_ the story elements. What do the walls say? Why? Its a story, and you aren't playing the story. Cowboybot was spot on and (though I think you are done haven't finished) if you do this sort of thing again you should take his advice to heart. He correctly critiqued your work and not you. Most people won't give you that much time.

Uhhh...two things. One, I didn't say I got no good feedback, I only said I got a negative post from TychoCelchuuu. Two Anybody else that posted here I have no problem with. I want critique, telling me my thread is depressing is offensive, and doesn't give me any criticism. And I have a question. What walls are you talking about? Me and Scout discuss the story alot in the LP, for example in part 15 while we are in the car the screen flickers a message "Forgive me" and we discuss it later. I also ask questions about what the drug that David is taking could be, if we are really killing monsters or real people, etc. We fuck around alot but we get serious at points. But thank you for sharing your thoughts here.

Lastly, I'm stil not done with this LP, since my Co-commentator isn't on enough to do so. But we've been updating it alot
