Im selling a plasma TV, i understand im not going to get a lot of money for a year old TV, im moving out of state and its shipping a TV like this is kind of risky. It is a nice Panasonic unit, not quite as good as a Pioneer, but they stopped production on those before i purchased one.

As i am selling this TV i have this same guy keep emailing me about how shitty Plasma TV's are and how my TV is only worth "$300". it is a TH-46PZ85U. i got it at the end of its cycle just over 1 year ago.

The guy tells me that "vewing angles are much poorer on Plasma TVs" and "the gas leaks out after 5 years" and LCD has is generally just better.

i respond by telling him that the motion on plasma is better, picture quality is normally better, and motion is almost always better, along with viewing angles. It has its faults, like Burn in (which is normally under pretty extreme conditions and its only temporary) and it uses more electricity. in fact i even sent him this link thinking it was a good comparison:

Am i wrong? is the used market for LCD offering better deals for $500? (he is saying my TV is at most worth $300)

    YHBT. YHL. HAND.

I think he's just trying to get you to sell it to him for $300.

Each has it's advantages and disadvantages but I wouldn't listen to him, he's just trying to get you to sell him the TV for $300.

He's just dead wrong about viewing angles and the gas leaking out. I think it's worth more then $300, but not sure if it's quite worth $500. You have to price it to compare to what he can get for the equivalent amount of money now.

He doesn't want to buy a tv so much as argue about stupid shit. Don't play his game. Tell him what price you're selling the tv for and if he wants to continue the discussion, block him.

ok, i figured, i thought i might had just suddenly become clueless over the past year since i had purchased the TV. The we have talked back and forth over 20 times since the first message.

oh well for how much i watch the industry i figured it would not have changed that much in the last 12 months.

jesus christ, 20 times? Yeah the guy's not looking to buy a tv.

Believe it or not, some people do spend all day looking for this kind of stuff so that they can argue with other people over the internet and waste both their time.

    This.

I'd also add that you should tell him that if he's not interested in purchasing your TV for your price, then to please quit wasting your time.

He's just wanting to argue a stupid point or he's trying to "haggle" with you (in a very rude way). You could try to meet him 1/2 way if you wanted to sell it that bad, but the guy just sounds like a jerk.

Also, tips for selling the TV. Post it's initial value.

$500 sounds high to some when it comes to HDTVs but if you post the original value of say...$1099.00 then suddenly it doesn't seem so bad.

thanks everyone, i figured as much, i just have never come across a person on craigslist that is this... pathetic.

i told him that if he is interested he can pay $700, otherwise i am not interested.

(yes i increased the price by $200, i have 3 more weeks to sell this damn thing and it is in perfect shape and barely used)
