System Shock 2 Crashing when entering irradiated areas

I finally am close to finishing this after 10 years of on and off/lost save games and had to restart playing etc issues.

I keep crashing in irradiated rooms. The tubes were fine. Some office with non essential items kept crashing the game so I skipped it.

I'm not at the body of the many and cannot proceed further due to a underwater radiated area that I can't get through before the crash happens. I need to get through this spot to continue the game.

I've tried going fast, god mode, etc. nothing works. I've even tried disabling mods.

Anyone else ever have this happen? I really want to finish this finally!

I don't think there's a noclip/ghost option to pass through the wall to help me either.

I wish I could help but its been a long long time since i played this.
I think there are some dedicated system shock 2 forums hiding out on the net. Try hunting them down and asking there.

System shock 2 for me was one of those games where it either ran just fine, or would randomly crash for no reason. Depending on what the game felt like doing.If you want, put your save up somewhere to download. I'll see if I can get through the part it crashes and then send it back.

I see you already posted on TTLG.com. That, strangebedfellows.de, and sshock2.com are the main places for all the System Shock 2 information that's out there. If you haven't already, I'd go through those for the info on doing the whole custom fan installation process. That's really the best bet for getting it to run as well as possible on modern machines. And yeah, in all my experience, it really is a binary "runs flawlessly or not at all" thing, so I can't say I've ever encountered that specific problem.

Thanks for the replies gents. It does seem to be totally weird and nothing found on the net anywhere similar. I'll try and upload a save file. or if anyone has one after all the sphincter business and I can take it from there. I really don't want to have to watch the end on youtube if I can help it.

I'll try and upload the save game file. This is the 2nd weird issue I've had. After the first few times I can no longer use maint tools even though my skill is maxed. It's like the game forgot I had a maint skill along the way.

I think I've disabled the fist nerve cluster. but have to get through the radioactive underwater room to proceed. if I can get past all that business and enter the final areas for the i think the end. I'd be a happy man and move onto the giant backlog.
