That isn't even the micro people were talking about. It was more of a gliding attack they were talking about. This is just fucking crazy. It is essentially auto attack while moving from what I am seeing.

right but i'm assuming blizzard put this in because of the recent shitstorms about not having any moving shot esque micro present in sc2
It's more that they gave it to one unit and only one unit
Yeah, that too.
Also, to clarify I'm not ridiculing people who wanted moving shot back as I also find this change ridiculous. I was more commenting on the fact that blizzard clearly had no idea what people meant by moving shot.
It wasn't moving shot people wanted necessarily, it was micro making a difference in air battle, instead of it just being click -> move -> attack. This change addresses that at I think it looks really fun.
So I snagged a beta key yesterday because I wanted to try this out, and after a couple matches today I have some questions.
1. Can you change the hotkeys? I'd love for move camera to be something other than the arrow keys but it didn't seem like I could.
2. I rarely play RTS games, so this going to be an excersize in frustration like those initial matches were? I'm pretty convinced RTS just isn't my kind of game, but I wanted to give it a fair shake.
I was using zerg, but past get resources, make a spawning pool, and get some zerglings out I wasn't really sure what to do.

I don't see what Muta will be able to do about this though. Because Pheonix's are faster and now they can shoot while moving as well?
Looks like it's sticking to massing hydras every game hurr hurr.

Yeah, they basically killed my infestor build with this patch too. Oh well, back to fast expand into attack-move roach/hydra.
They certainly haven't been encouraging more diverse strategies and unit compositions with these patches. I think it's nice to see the phoenix not be a piece of crap though.
Anyways, phoenixes are pretty pitiful vs most air units anyways.
They're really like a floating probe* - 10 damage a shot to anything that's not light.
*Probes are pretty actually beastly, so maybe more like an SCV.
Muta micro got a buff as well. Not as significant though.
did it? I don't see anything regarding mutalisks

The Phoenix has always been a gimmick unit (Lift being it's only real use), and the worst of the AA fighter style units. Now it's actually viable as an AA fighter craft, but still gets out ranged by vikings.
Ok, I take back what I said. This isn't like BW, it has to be a joke.
You don't have to hold position or patrol to get the phoenixes to fire on the move, they just do it. You don't even have to attack move, they just auto-attack anything that comes within range.

So Thor ground damage didn't really change at all, but they'll be more effective against Zerg now. (Getting destroyed because you shoot A zerglings every two seconds? Painful.)
I'm not totally understanding the splash damage changes. It used to do splash from.. From the unit? And now it does it from where it attacks? I don't get how this is a big change.
And fuck the Colossi buff. What the fuck. Colossi already destroyed my 'lings and hydras, and now they can destroy them more. Cool.

As soon as I saw they didn't nerf Void Rays I was happy.
Well they do slightly more dps with upgrades now as well.
Ultralisk buff just means it will slaughter tier 1 faster. An ultra without upgrades is a waste of time though. You were probably already upgrading lings if you wanted to go ultras.

this was a colossi nerf, now they can't kite as effectively.
Before the splash damage was centered on the grid that the unit was standing on, now it's centered on the unit itself.
also corruption was not essential and the change actually makes them more useful vs armies. And incredibly useful vs BC/Carriers/BL/Thor/Ultra/Colossi
Imagine a few corruptors tearing into colossi with the corruption on them.

Actually if you do the math, Colossi do about the same dps now.

It's not a buff...
before patch, 2 shots melted hydras. After patch, 3 shots melt hydras.
Before spd 2.2, after 1.65.
So lets see. What does 2.2x2=? What does 1.65x3=?
4.4 to 4.95.
Edit(changed 'cause looked at wrong number, but the overall conclusion still remains)
Lets take a look at hydra and ling speed. According to this, hydra speed is .83
What does that mean? Well now that it takes 4.95secs to kill the hydra, the hydra will always get an extra attack off.
5.3 attacks vs the now 5.9 attacks
Couple this with the point where collosi can't run n' gun anymore, and it's a nerf all around, period.

Yes, in the same way that Thors do the same DPS.
However, they attack more frequently, which against large armies of weaker units (zerglings)

OOOOOR they could make reapers come out later or something and give them an upgrade to shoot while mooving. MWA HA HA!
Ultralisks should be able to burrow while moving. It would be an upgrade. We'd call it "bowling."

I hope this isn't just a joke that they'll remove next patch, I could see them doing that.

And don't forget nerfing spore crawlers.
I mean, that is totally insult to injury.
Yeah, before I was like. "well zerg t1 AA blows, but at least I can move my spores around"
I guess blizzard thought t1 zerg AA was too good?

Nice! Thanks for breaking it down.
