the corruption change looks primarily like an anti capital ship thing. Its weird that they would focus on that since people are hardly ever using carriers or bcs. id probably still just go mass infestor and some hydras or something. corruptors are like devourers now. i hated using devourers
I guess I'll take "double energy cost" and "must research" in exchange for being able to infest air units.
I guess.
Seems like a shitty exchange though.
i am not too happy with the exchange
but i will accept making cruisers yamato cannon each other
"Lieutenant, prepare the Yamato Cannon."
"Yes sir! Targeting computers are ready, where shall we fire?"
"The Insurmountable."
"Sir...? I believe that vessel is on our side."
"I find your lack of faith disturbing."

all while presumably having a phallic like appendage penetrating his head, remind
james you got it backwards. Slower attack speed is better for kiting.
Better for kiting, I suppose. But for straight attacking? Thors especially.
Well, as lilnoobs said, it was worse for straight attacking hydras because now the hydras get 1 extra attack in before they die. Also they will be effected more by armor.
Faster attack speeds improve the relevance of upgrades though. Apparently they still gain the same damage bonus as before, only now they attack faster.

I don't think it's so well thought out, they simply realised how ridiculous the original corruption spell was and threw out something to replace it - something which won't really change anything.
Can a zerg research NP and have an infestor out with enough energy to stop a void ray in time?
My thors are happy about NP, sure. Aren't ultralisks higher tier than infestors though? What if the zerg brings his own infestor? Would he have to parasite his own ultralisk to regain control? Can you defensively parasite your unit ahead of time to prevent mind control? If you parasite another infestor, can you then parasite another unit?
Seems like my big problem now is not spending my money. Last game at the end I had over 11k minerals (granted I had been hunting down the remnants of the Zerg base for about 3-4 minutes with my Thors) but what the heck am I supposed to be spending that on? My unit cap was nearly maxed out and I'd done several researches (I know I need to remember to keep teching, I'm working on that) so what am I supposed to do?

If you're nearing food cap then you need to lose some units.
If you're sitting at 200 food and nothing's happening, find a way to toss some units at the enemy and do as much damage as you can. Then, since you have all this cash and unused production, remake it instantly. Just make sure you don't send so much that you can't defend against a counter attack, but essentially what you should be able to do is keep your 200 food count while throwing damage at your enemy in the form of drops, harassment, etc.
I think most of these changes are good. The infestor got nerfed a lot harder than I expected, and the Thor alterations really puzzle me, though. I did not expect the change to colossi either.
Props to them for buffing the poor siege tank. +10 hit points is nice, but the change to splash damage will really help. Not only will they cause more damage to the enemy; they'll cause less damage to friendly troops on the front lines.
Thor is the right size for it's cost, it's like a grounded battlecruiser.
Colossus is also the right size, but it obstructs the view of armies too much sometimes since it can walk over units.
Ultra is too big, I agree. They should scale it down and make it faster, but they really want a unit players react to with an "oh shit" to for the Zerg.
So why does toss whine about terran? I just fought a toss who actually used his abilities and there was basically nothing I could do. Huge forcefield walls forcing me into melee with mass lots, feedback on ghosts, etc.

Well, that guy you played you called you stupid for suggesting colossi and sentries had the worst micro ever.
So I assume it's just the protoss who think they're good because they have a bunch of wins with attack-move that are complaining when their attack-move ball gets countered.
Most of the other changes seem pretty good. Weird Thor changes, they're going to be pretty terrible for anti-air against carriers and battlecruisers now.
yeah but they pretty much always have been. You need way too many thors to AA massive stuff, there are a million other options you should be considering before them if that's what you're fighting.
Yeah, like vikings, and vikings, and, uh, vikings?
What are those million options again? It seems like Terran is pretty damn light on AA.

What?
Terran have quite a few good choices for AA: lots of marines, thors, vikings, and missile turrets. Not all of them are good against everything, but there's quite a bit to choose from there. And those aren't even everything terran has that can hit air.
Terran's AA situation is a whole lot better than that of Protoss and Zerg.
I think the protoss changes in this patch are pretty good on the whole. Making it massing sentries have a little higher cost in terms of damage is good, buffing archon AOE is a start, and making it harder for colossi to kite and one shot stuff seems fair. They are pretty gross in PvP match ups.
Lol at the phoenix change though, that certainly was not what I was expecting for blizzard to do with phoenixes. Even more crazy stuff you can do with microing them. And the lack of void ray changes is surprising as well.

they explain it and a few other changes here.
Interesting to see future ultra changes.
Since it wasn't released in this version I'm hoping it's a cool but hard to implement still like rage or leap attack.

I second this idea... weee
It's harder to get NP but they're meant as a counter to Void Rays? At least you can NP motherships and stuff like that
as expected
AHAHAHAHA
blizzard
Seriously. You were more likely to counter void rays with infestors pre-patch than you are now.

I think the better comparison is Snipe to Feedback.
