"Technology" just doesn't sound like a propaganda-ish word. I'd focus more on the VS as aspirational, rather than fetishistic about technology. Because, like, everybody is already using technology, it's not like anybody's shunning it, so it's not actually really unique.
But the Vanu get laser technology.
Then the slogan should be "LASER MOTHERFUCKERS IN THE FACE".

When I saw that first base I suddenly got the urge to want to see it move around like a big horrible doomsday fortress-robot. But then I remembered the BFR's!
The overall design in PS2 is so far really neat though. Except maybe sound design... Some of the weapons sound a little weak

You know, I think the developers are a little mixed up.
You give the imperical faction the hard hitting slower rate guns, as they would have superior equipment due to their armory. You also give them the slow but powerful tanks.
You give the rebels guns with fast firing rates but lesser damage, as they have to either improvise their weapons or steal left over ones from the empires armories. You also give the rebels the faster vehicles, as those are used in guerilla tactics, because they are rebels with a small bit less resources than the imperial faction.
Vanu classification of weapons and vehicles are fine though.
And don't get me wrong, Iove weapons with fast firing rates. It just doesn't make sense due to the "flavor" of factions.
It is arguably easier to make guns that hit hard than it is to make guns that fire quickly. In many ways isn't powerful but slow seen as more brutish and primitive while more civilized folk use more precise and/or more advanced weaponry? Seems to fit just fine to me.

This is the idea I get also. NC are just about scrapping together a lot of explosives and metal. TR on the other hand have the engineering resources to make finely tuned equipment, so they have the fastest weapons and vehicles.
how likely is it that one would get into the beta, if you just sign up now? I imagine at this point they're working from a pretty long waiting list?
Well, people who played PS1, went to SOE Fan Faire last year or got the PCGamer issue (key) from about a month ago are on the top of the list, but otherwise I imagine it is just luck.
Edit: oops, meant to edit my first post not make a new one.

Why wouldn't they have the strongest vehicles though? A victory class star destroyer is a bit better than a Mon Calamari carrier.

Game balance perhaps? I guess it sort of depends on what you mean by "strongest." Once it was decided that the TR would have the precision/rate of fire advantage on weaponry I think they just carried that over to the vehicles to make the vehicle differences consistent with the infantry differences.

I dunno, it's just what SOE ended up with in PS1. Not saying it definitely should be one way or the other. I was just pointing out that there is at least a reasonable case for the "theme" as is.
Well I think the developers wanted the vehicles to follow the same paradigm as the infantry, and since they gave NC the hard hitting infantry weapons and TR the faster firing / softer hitting weapons, they just made the vehicles the same way.
the lack of purple probably means that's a low level's armor. Love the Rexo, but I would like to see it with more purple and black like the other screenshots we've seen.

The Empire clearly was all about human waves and volume of fire. Which is why they are awesome. RED OR DEAD.
HOPEFULLY this game will be cross-continental. I wanna play with PA on this. An organised bunch would be SO much better than solo even if solo would still be damn fine.
This needs to go into Beta soon, and not just because I want to play it. I want it to actually be good, and a solid Beta period is a good way to help make that a reality.

I loved that tank

that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

Finally some more vehicles! I think this is a new version of the Deliverer
VS weapon firing.
3D cockpits.
The new decimator?
This had better go on the back of a Marauder.
Amp Station goodness.
