I kind of wish they would make PS1 F2P so we could have a taste before PS2.
If you ever played PS1 ever, even on purely 'trial/free/6 month recruit!' anything you probably have 45 days free play-time for it waiting at the SOE site, i did and a couple other people mentioned it in here aswell.

From that bottom screenshot, I'm a little afraid that aiming down the sights isn't going to be very effective. To be honest, I'm not a fan of the aiming style games like Halo, Counter Strike, or Day of Defeat have. I'm a very iron sights/aim down whatever sort of guy. Apparently, from a friend on Steam, Heroes and Generals pretty much negates any reason to aim down the sights because it doesn't do a damn thing, which I don't like.
Point is, I really hope the aiming style is much more RO2, BF3, than DOD, CSS.
I don't really care whether it is iron sights or just a cross-hair on the screen. You still have to aim your bullets at the target either way. It's just a different visual style of the same thing.
From the gameplay videos I have seen of PS2 it looks like using the sights will be helpful for precision aiming.

Well, here's how I see it. With non-sights, you have to equal someone with twitch, or you die. Sighted, you have a half second of getting behind cover, or proning straight to the ground. These are really important at mid-long range. I am not one who has excellent twitch, I'm not sure why because I've been playing FPS for a long time, but never stuck to one for a long time.
I see your point, but keep in mind that PS is not a small scale deathmatch type thing. You are going to be on a large battlefield moving with a squad or at least with other allies so individual twitch is going to be de-emphasized. Using cover is pretty important, as well as using the right weapons in the right situations.
I think there will be less reliance on twitch thanks to the different types of armor you can wear. Obviously we don't know the TTK on everything in PS2, but in PS1 you very often had a chance to get out of the way of fire even if someone get the jump on you (except in extreme close range of course). I imagine that wearing a Rexo or MAX suit will help people who aren't as twitchy, but won't save them entirely. I can see the twitchy gameplay really playing out with the light assault people who will often be flying around trying to evade fire from below and quickly reacting to fire from enemy Light Assaults. We'll see how it plays out in beta, but I think different play styles will blend nicely in this game.
Is it just me, or do those screenshots just nail the sense of scale in this game? When I look at that tech plant, it just screams TALL! in a way no other game has been able to do, considering it's an MMO(fps).

I want to know what those programs in the background there are. They're in every screenshot with PS2 where you can see the desktop.
What does dog do?!
That computer is probably the screenshot host, and whenever they do screen captures they don't want to give away info on programs they are using/parts of the game that might be in those files. Maybe.
Or it could just be there to screw with us or serve some other, surely vital purpose. Like allowing them to remember which animal matches what game assets.

I remember Higby tweeting something along those lines. Can't find it though.
I do know they take shots of the game running on the desktop like that so they can just directly post them. I remember someone saying that their direct-from-game screenshots have to go through some other department before they can be cleared to post online.
Game has a fantastic sci-fi asthetic, can't really think of much that's just looked that *right* for a Sci-fi game.

Watching TB's video right now.
I'm literally weeping tears of joy. It's all so beautiful. I'm picturing the firefights and strafing runs and tank battles we'll be doing at night.
This and GW2 will ensure I'll never play anything else ever again. Part of me is stunned SOE is doing this game justice. If they pull this off they will definitely be out of the game dev doghouse.

That is hot. Gives me a saving private Ryan/ band of brothers feel for some reason. I think it was the explosions and the night raid, all those bullets in the air. Though it could be the missile base mission from COH 1 and the commando sneak mission from opposing fronts.
The part at 12:50 when you see the Liberator being fired on by another aircraft; seeing that just reminded me so much of the opening battle scene in T2 I almost yelled out in glee. I can't believe how gorgeous this looks!
He said something about gathering resources, thus allowing them to get armour/aircraft? is that a thing now? its not just about having a certificate/base with a vehicle spawner? its resource based?

Anyway, GW2 beta weekend is over. Back to hunting for planetside 2 stuff!
T-Ray staring at the sun.
VS Iron sights apparently.

Edit: Damnit, Enig beat me to it.
But yea, the bases are gargantuan and I love it.
According to T-Ray there will be a fully playable version at E3. Just need to wait a little longer...
Beta please? I must have it.
*"everything" would also suffice here.
So looking forward to this.

Hah! Nice. In the future, playstation controllers can also turn into mines and turrets!
Yeah, I can't get over how large they're looking.
So awesome.
Liberator exterior. Thing is much bigger up close than I imagined. Also, new Vanu weapon in that guy's hands?!

That rifle design says either New Cong or universal to me as opposed to Vanu. It doesn't look pro enough to be Vanu. 8-)

WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT!
Edit: Ohh god TB is using the burster. Aghhhhhhhhhhhh!
In large battles the night time tracer fire and explosions are going to be epic 8-)

From the way it's looking it can't be all that far away from a closed beta. Here's hoping.
That is all...
