your weapons eventually get locked if you kill too many friendlies in a short amount of time. It's fairly forgiving though, because of how often random TKs happen in big firefights.
also while it will lock the weapons, it won't kick you out of a vehicle you're piloting, so you can continue to run people over.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet

The best part is both of the two servers they opened are full, complete with their population and empire caps. Then, they send out more invites and give us more keys to invite more people who can't play because there's 2 whole servers, one of which is on the other side of the world. Plus still no word on if the optimizations went in, and apparently the new continent is covered in fog, and people who found the option to turn it off are being silenced because it's "fun" to not be able to see what is shooting at you a hundred or two yards out.
I wouldn't say it looks better in all situations. At night time or in a cold climate, the fog makes sense. I think in the day time the fog is a bit much sometimes though.
Edit: Although, it doesn't seem as bad? Been a while since I played. It seems clearer out of the sandy area.
Yeah, something that people claim to have been active all along, but I just noticed, is that everything renders through walls and the ground. To test it, I got on the second floor of the warpgate building. Looked up, over 60 FPS, look down at all the people, 20 FPS. Go to the ground floor and repeat, 60 FPS looking into the floor or ceiling. Everything on the level, FPS crawls. I'm also not noticing any optimizations for Intel dual cores even though that's what people are claiming went in since the AMD people got the shaft. wakkawa is right, this is less playable then before.
Also, that fog, I got to see it instead of reading about it. It's kinda stupid how the haze is -everywhere-, impyling it's really cold but no breath or exhaust even though that's probably implemented. So it's just one hazy mess
Alright, I havent played in a while but now Im gunna give it a go since theyve released a new continent.
Im currently downloading about 5GB from a launcher Ive been using for quite some time. Am I downloading the right stuff or do I have to download a new launcher? If it matters Ive received like 2 emails since the last time I played telling me about game updates or something. I didnt really pay attention to them since I wasnt really playing.

I am still stuck looking after my grandfather. I am hoping to get some quality time with the new patch tomorrow. I RDP'd in today to download the patch so I am going to be ready to rock once I get home. Other than performance issues for some and TKing issues at time, is there any glaring flaws? You can spam the join button to get in if the server is full.
I'm kind of surprised they didn't just go with what PS1 did: weapons are locked in warp gates. That and also introducing pain fields to spawn rooms instead of just making it impossible to deploy engineer turrets there - could have even done both. Can the engine just not handle these things?
How are you even playing? I get like 15 second delay in lag.
Even with everything cranked to max I get smooth framerates so no idea.
Also, just got done playing with a group of guys and it was a lot of fun loading up a galaxy and just dropping into a base and fucking shit up. We also helped defend a base on the new continent and that was fun too, though that fog is ridiculous.

Didn't they say they were going to add pain fields?

Yeah, they did. Not sure if it's in already, but that was the thought I had: why not just make it so engineer turrets can't be deployed in spawn rooms? Admittedly pain fields are much more effective at stopping camping, but there's no harm doing both (prevents "friendly" spawn camping too).

I should be back home at around 3pm today. I hope you guys will be getting on too.
NC again probably. I'm not bothering until they open the East servers back up, and fix the framerate problems this introduced, my framerate went down yet again instead of up.
I got curbstomped when I logged in Saturday morning as NC, took a reaver out and was immediately set on by a pack of at LEAST 20 scythes. After that (and NC still held a good third of the map) I switched to Vanu. Over the next hour, there proceeded to be the biggest zerg raping I have ever seen in this game. I got a similar pic as above....
We were literally ringing in BOTH enemy warpgates, with no hope of them breaking out. Burster maxes and skyguards were cutting down anything that flew, and magriders plus about 100+ heavy inf rockets obliterated anything that rolled out of the shield. I felt bad and logged out.
What is troubling, is that this state of affairs lasted almost an hour, and even with a +72 worldwide auraxium gain, I received roughly 500 Aurax during that hour....with complete continent domination and an hour of play. Definitely not happy with the nerf to that resource gain.
Also, love how patch notes say cert gain is down again, but prices are also down.....but now reflex sights cost over double what they did before? Yeah, some things got cheaper, but other more useful stuff got WAAAY higher.
Proabably will definitely buy Alpha squad, mainly because its 2/3 of what BF3 costs, and comes with 12 unlocks which I dont have to use SC or Aurax for. But they really need to get their F2P revenue model settled before this goes Open beta or theres going to be a lot of gnashing of teeth.

Man, there are only 2 servers open right now and the US one is getting really really laggy.
This, ladies and gents, is known as a Stress Test. They're trying to overload the servers on purpose to test load balancing and population caps. Be patient, and remember that you're in a closed beta. They did advertise that servers would be condensed, they didnt explicitly call it a stress test, because then who would want to log in during it, defeating the purpose.
It especially sucks for me because I've always gotten shit ping from the "West" servers here in Florida, and that was before this. But still gonna queue up and hammer on the server.
The only part I don't like is that there is no analog control for yaw. I don't really need analog control for roll. Hope they allow different control schemes as options.
Playing with Hexus's crew was pretty much the most awesome thing I've ever seen in a video game. Totally different game than just playing with a few people.
Two thumbs up, highly recommended, will group again.

Yeah, Hexus runs a pretty tight squad. He needs to work on his delegation a little bit once the platoon starts getting really large, but he is doing a better job than I could.

Being a part of large organized outfits and platoons were easily the best part of PS1. You really felt like you were a part of something, and that you were making a difference on the map. Planning and executing big operations that won your empire the continent would give your outfit server-wide recognition.
Watching people zerg around solo as if they`re just playing Team Deathmatch is almost a little depressing.
Organized stuff is great, but even when you are just part of the random infantry it is so great to battle across the terrain, taking cover, storming ridges, seeing tanks roll in for support, or aircraft wings going overhead.
With the new, more defensible bases, you get that "siege" feeling too, with the fun added dynamic of enemies with jump-jets. Get on the turrets and blow up some enemies, keep your shields up, etc etc.
Starting to feel like PlanetSide again. Well, it's getting there, at least..

EDIT: Doesnt matter, I made 3 guys on the US server:
TheClap08
TheClapV
TheClapTR
Do you get points for repairing/healing people yet?
Also, 3 consoles to get to the new continent? Lame.
Also also, fuck those assholes who just chuck grenades at the spawn tubes/continent changers.
I wish knifing a dude did more damage.

Hopping into public squads isn't much better, it just means you get an airlift to the area and then play TDM there.
