I tried booting up Borderlands which said 1000/1500 (I never bought any of the DLC's) and it wanted to do an update and I said no, when I exited the game, my completed games list suddenly had Borderlands in it, saying it was 1000/1000 now.
I doubt the update would've had anything to do with it.
They must've made a network change recently. I'm in favour.
I'm quite certain it did, because I tried updating it later on (I heard about these "free" levels, making lvl 69 the new max level) but it just set me at 1000/1500 again, and I had to reload due to a glitch,
and it asked Me to update another time (still the same day) and I did not - score set to 1000/1000 once more.

I have no clue what Borderlands is doing for you, but here is what I just did:
I cleared my cache and rebooted. It listed SR2 at a max of 1125 (There are two DLC packs for 125 points each. I only own one of them.) I started the game and it asked me to update, I said no. Going back to the dashboard listed the new max at 1000. I booted the game again, accepted the update, and the new max is now 1125 again.
Then I put in Force Unleashed (I only own the Jedi Temple DLC) and said no to the update. It went from 1220/1345 to 1220/1000 (and didn't even get credit for completion...). Booting again set it back to 1220/1345.
It appears some games might act differently, but it looks like there are at least some games that will set their max number of achievement points to the highest total you can get via DLC. But you must connect to LIVE for the number to update correctly. Otherwise all it will do is default to 'retail' levels.
EDIT:
Now if only I knew somebody who lived near to me who could get those shitty Mirror's Edge time trial achievements... I'd totally do this trick to get it listed as completed since I'd never buy the DLC.
Well, Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions has just given me my sixth Platinum Trophy.
All in all it was a very entertaining game, although getting a couple of the trophies was a pain considering that the game has some annoyingly spotty targeting when there are a lot of baddies onscreen. You don't really notice it until you're playing on hard difficulty because that's when the game can hammer you if you make a mistake in a fight.
I won't lie... there was some swearing involved. That said, I had fun getting the Platinum for the most part. It's definitely a game I'd recommend.
And now I think I'll take a break from trophy hunting for a while.
...
Or I could try and get the Platinum on Batman: Arkham Asylum. Only got a few left to go on that. But the ones I have to get... D:D:D:
I opted to put Batman: Arkham Asylum aside for the time being after realising just how rusty I was at the combat. And it has to be said that after platinuming X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions recently, I'm not really in the mood for more costumed superhero action at the moment.
So - after noticing that I didn't have all that much left to do on it - I spent the day cleaning up Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. It's a fun game, if ridiculously easy. A little bit of grinding and a quick run-through of the game got me my seventh Platinum Trophy.
100 percent on Case Zero as well. Very good little game for 5 bucks. Easy and cheevements. Good stuff. Wasn't interested in the main game before, but now I'll be taking another look for sure.
I really like that Bungie put the "A Monument to All your Sins" achievement in Reach. It lets people still get the legendary achievement with others if they want, but gives a challenging goal for people to do alone. I also really like that they took out multiplayer achievements that require certain maps (except for the Invasion ones, but since that is its own playlist that doesn't seem bad).
I'm hoping we get a few achievements along the vidmaster level when the first DLC comes out for reach. Doing the vidmaster achievements for Halo 3 and ODST was an absolute blast.
Fuck that survive a fall with an assassination on an Elite achievement. There are only two spots in the whole game to do it at and only one is reliable. On top of that, it seems the achievement is glitched. Great!
I ended up doing it by not canceling sprint. Maybe I ran out of sprint before I did the assassination, but I ended up doing it that way on my first try after Lork told me that's how he did it.
Well, thanks again to Brainiac 8, we've both finished off the online Katamari achievements. I'll be finishing off the DLC achievements shortly and can finally move on, but I'll keep the copy handy for anybody who'd like similar help.
Heh. I just picked up the single online achievement NCAA Football 08 has. I didn't even have to quit or lose or anything. Now it'll just be a grind for the full 1000.
Guess I'm bad at Halo then, because I flew around with my unlimited jetpack for 45 minutes raining infinite 300% damage fuel rods down upon my hapless foes on Legendary whilst invulnerable.

I honestly don't see the point to playing it any other way.
Also just to be a smugdog I got that "Assassinate An Elite From The Air" achievement on about my 4-5th try. I knew you had to let go of Sprint beforehand so maybe I just go lucky.

Deathspank - Thongs of Virtues is a great game, just got 215/215 in it, and also have 200/200 in the original, its nice to get the achievements, but now there isnt anything left to do in the games :x

I'm sure we will. There's stuff built into the game to trigger multiple vehicles at certain points, the same way ODST had rocket launchers with 999 rockets and 3 had the four Ghosts.

@vgreminders - Don't miss out on timed events in gaming! @gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
So i bought Halo 3 and ODST as i've never really played the Halo games and with Reach out i wanted to see what all the fuss was about, blasted through 3, was quite enjoyable and the achivements are quite fun to get. Working on ODST, which again is very fun and the achivements are not too hard.
Plus waypoint is just a brilliant idea, if really encourges you to work on more achievements. I think more game series should have a waypoint like system, but then again most developers arn't as fan friendy as Bungie. Goddamn i'm a sucker for leveling up bars.
Man I will never get 200/200 in metal slug xx I just cant beat the game on one continue. Best I can do is the first two levels how am I supposed to get past all 7 missions!
Those two Hexic achievements need to die in a fire.
Also, going through my achievements to check my average and see if there are any easy/fun achievements I could pick up, I've once again decided that they need to add the ability to delete games and their gamerscore from your account. I have about 25g or something like that in Guitar Hero 3, and I have no desire to ever play that game again.
Picked up Dante's Inferno on the cheap at the beginning of the week and it has furnished me with my eighth Platinum Trophy.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with it. With the way people talk about it, I was half expecting a cheap God of War knock-off that would be painful to play. What I got was a competently done and surprisingly entertaining God of War clone. Yeah, the story was an afterthought on the developer's part, but all in all it was a fun ride.
45k and another game at 100%! Just like I planned.
Don't know if anybody is interested, but I'll probably be looking to finish off the multiplayer achievements for Stuntman: Ignition. Some are ranked and I've had an issue matching up with someone on my friends list in another game, so I don't know if that might be a problem.
Still, anybody interested in working something out?
Santa, I should have some free nights this week if you want to rack up some more ranked wins in Ticket to Ride. I'm quite keen to put that to bed.
I finished playing Darksiders this week, and got all but three of the achievements (complete on Apocalyptic, 160 kills on angelic beast, and unlock 100%). It was a good game but not good enough to justify an immediate second playthrough, so I'll keep the achievements as an incentive for a second run in future.
So I replayed Alan Wake to wrap up the collectibles achievements. Got all the way to the end and found I'm still missing three thermoses. That shit can fuck right off.

If you're still looking for those Stuntman achievements then I'd be willing to give it a go.

took me three days of about an hour each day to get it.
Still, I'll be glad to see the back of it.
Thanks for the help Santa. :^:

Woo and Hoo.
Croteam will only accept the most serious of achievements.
On the plus side the Cheevos for Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue are simple enough. And to be honest you should already be playing Deathspank.
According to their Community Update, they know it's easy using rigged maps - but if you use one, you're "bad at Halo" :P

There's apparently a grid method you can use, but I've never bothered to try and learn it.
