The problem isn't that people are kicked, the problem is that people cannot play their games in a timely manner.
I really think we should do an Olympic-style tournament after this season to mix things up. You play games through invites, which means no trading, but in exchange we can actually have continuous OT (both players just quit out and start a new game if it is tied at the end of the third. From there, first goal wins). 12 teams, 3 divisions. (Maybe even expand it to 16 teams, 4 divisions? I'm horrible at setting up tournaments so somebody would have to work that kind of thing out). You play each team in your division once for rankings (again, this is something we could adjust since we are just playing through invites.) After those initial games we move on to the single elimination tournament. (Or best 2 out of 3. Or whatever. Again, we can decide what we want to do.)
Pros
- Short "season"/few amount of games to play
- No damn shootouts
- More control over the format
- Can replay parts of a game lost due to dropped internet/power outage/etc
Cons
- No trading
- No stat tracking
- Basically have to keep track of everything ourselves
Is this a fix for the problems we have when we play leagues? Hell no. But until we make people sign some kind of notarized contract to get them to understand that games need to get played in a timely manner I think this could at least make the game fun again.

I like Pond4sh's idea. And I agree with remlap, the people kicked would have never finished their games. I mean, Oxe hasn't been on for 8 days and he was the closest to finishing. People are assholes.

I was really looking forward to being in the playoffs when we got going, I could be in the top 16 but top 8 isn't going to happen currently.
I have never set up a league in this game, how much control over number of games we play does the GM have? Is there a way to make it so we don't have shoot outs if people hate them? They can be frustrating (especially since I suck at goalie) but I wouldn't say I hate them.
Let's keep the league format, it's convenient and I like the stat tracking, but just fuck people that aren't on very often. There's a core group of 10 or 12 guys here who get their games done, and we'll keep it to that. Plus, less people obviously means it takes less time, regardless of how efficient people are at playing their games.
Whatever works for the majority. I like to play NHL 10.

Yea I'm taking a break from league play till NHL 11 probably. Or at least for a couple months. RDR is coming out. I have a full time job now. And I'm sick of managing all you chimps.

With the league taking forever, not making the playoffs because of EA not knowing what they are doing with online leagues, and shit going on in my life right now, I am just not up for another league right this second.
Right now, it just seems that I am drifting away from gaming as a whole. There is no way I am just going to bail on gaming though, so it is just a phase right now.
Anyway, I am off to see Iron Man 2 by myself. I hate my life is out. 8-)
