I got hold of a copy of Monster Hunter Tri and when I realised I couldn't actually see the text (A problem I've had in Xbox games that actually support HD - how is this happening on Wii as well?) I remembered how much larger my monitor is than my actual television.
So basically I was wondering if there was a way to get non-HD consoles that usually connect through composite/component/SCART to hook up to this VGA/HDMI monitor.
I tried to look things up and I got the impression that either I could get a very expensive conversion thing of unknown quality or possibly a capture card for the PC.
Also I noticed there are USB video capture things - I'm guessing these will either be bad quality or not real-time owing to the limits on USB speed, but it would be nice if I was wrong seeing as those were just £5.
Basically the topic of video inputs is pretty much unknown to me, this monitor is the only HD-capable screen in the house.
There is a Wii upscaler that outputs to HDMI, but it is expensive for very little benefit. If nothing else though, it gives you that sort of output you need.
I use this component to vga converter to connect to my Asus monitor and connect the audio cables with an rca to 3.5mm adapter that I got from Radio Shack. This setup works pretty good as long as the game supports 480p, this will not work for 480i at all.
