"I didn't mention you at all, Korin. I just said it would be neat IF there was someone around here who could." He addresses his other brothers as he points at Korin, "Some people just always assume that you are talking about them, sheesh."
Wait. Waitwaitwait.
Why would a portal that calls for elemental fire (which is different from nonadjective fire, I guess?) respond to symbolic fire? They're mutually exclusive concepts.
Still don't really see what I should be doing since Daus can't make any sense of the red marks.
In conclusion: Don't puzzle at me. I'll hold up the game for weeks if you keep doing this.

No. Daus pulled this trick on Korin all the time. Expect things to be complicated, and suddenly they will be. Portals and transportation spells were always complicated, things he didn't really understand but could mostly figure out given time. So of course he expected that he'd have to hunt down some artifact to carry perfectly ideal fire from another plane just to open a door. But that's the trick, isn't it? What better way to keep an intruder away than make entry seem like too much trouble? The actual method of entry would probably be fairly simple; a torch or basic fire spell or--
He looked at the red chalk. Corellon help him it couldn't be that simple. It had to be something more no that's the trick. He took a breath. This was truly a terrible idea. He hoped he wouldn't regret what came next.

The portal flares into life. You hear vague noises from the other side, which suddenly stop soon after the portal opens.
Just a heads up: I'm going to be camping this Thursday-Late Saturday/Sunday, and am probably going to need someone to post for me while I'm out. My sheet is listed below; any takers? And for the record, 'Camping' is not a euphemism for 'Starcraft II'.
...though a part of me wishes it was...

"As you step through the portal, you feel your bodies shifted through miles of rock in a moment that feels both instantaneous and endless. You feel your form coalesce in a rocky chamber standing in a glowing yellow circle. A hovering lantern stands a short distance away, its light very dim. Before you is a wooden staircase leading up to the rest of the room. At the top of the stairs stands a dragonborn clad in scale next to a small ballista that swivels, of its volition, in your direction. Three kobolds skirt the perimeter of the room, getting ready to attack."

Tomorrow I leave for a second job interview out of town. Updates when I can. In my wake though, I'll just leave the fact that I currently possess two guest passes for Starcraft II. Gets you 7 hours of free play. I'm posting this in all threads I'm involved in, so first two to PM me get them.
I too will join the sparsely posting club. We are leaving for San Diego tomorrow. Be there til next tuesday. Im not sure how much access i will have to post...if it looks like I'm dragging, Farangu (or whoever) feel free to post snarky comments for Swanky in my absence.

"The magical crossbow fully turns to face you, and lets loose two large bolts. The bolts heavily impact both the changeling and the Warforged. The kobold furthest from the fray advances very warily, and sends an orb of energy floating towards Vista. It bursts into flame, engulfing her."
Dragonborn: HP 138, AC 16, Fort 18, Ref 16, Will 15
Kobold Wyrmpriest: HP 36, AC 15, Fort 13, Ref 15, Will 15
Slingers: HP 24, AC 13, Fort 12, Ref 14, Will 12
Arbalester: HP 43, AC 16, Fort 15, Ref 17, Will 15
I'm off in about half an hour: For whomever takes Vista's turn, her first instinct would be to shank the Mage if she can get to it (and it looks like she can) with a Furious Charge. And after that, the Big Guy is totally Daily+Action Point+Avalanche Strike material if I'm any judge about it.

A point of reference: This whole library ideal has taken about 20 minutes. And there's still plenty of time to make it to that small farming village after this. You arrived at the library around midday.
I like Susan's thinking, I can take Vistsa's turn for her and do exactly as Susan describes. Hopefully the rolls will be decent. Skarr will follow Vista in and bash away at the Dragonborn and guard her flank (and soak up some damage, Skarr is out of dailies ). So getting Swanky in there too to stab people in the back would be sweet, but we've got baddies all around us, and the little halfling is versatile. Daus can rain down doom and Korin can give him some support?
If Korin (or anyone) has any buffing, I think now might be a good time.
Korin is very much a frontline leader. In fact, I would've already taken my turn, but all my buffs would be out of range from any distance that I could actually attack someone with. I could just barely catch Vista with my Energizing Strike if I went for the Alabaster, but that's about it.
Next turn, or this one if you want me to use an Action Point or run, I could use Ire Strike Augment 2 to lay down vulnerability on the Dragonborn and set up a flank, but that's all I've really got in attack/damage buffs. You'd need to be at least 5 squares away from me for me to be useful at all though.
Farangu, I'd like to use Shield as an Immediate Inturrupt to that attack. (+4 power bonus to AC and Reflex until end of my next turn)
Daus can drop nightmares and ghosts where ever we want, really. My nastier powers aren't ally-friendly, though, so keep that in mind when bunching up around the tough dudes. Illusory Ambush is about as supportive as I get.

A magical force field interrupts the flight path of the bolt heading towards the changeling.
Skarr and Vista exchange the briefest of glances before both of them go charging off towards the enemy. Vista angles towards the Wyrmpriest, laying into the magic user with her greatsword. Skarr, his massive green bulk shielding Vista's charge, breaks away at the last moment and brings his greataxe down upon the dragonborn with a mighty overhand chop.
While Skarr may not the be the sharpest knife in the drawer, he's no fool. Wounded from the previous battle and drained of some his strength, he knows he is no match for the Dragonborn right now. Not that that fact would stop Skarr from acting as a bulwark between a dangerous foe and his brothers. He hoped that Vista could take down the Wyrmpriest quickly, and then use thier flanking positions on the dragonborn to thier advantage. Skarr's job was to keep the dragonborn busy until his brothers could pull his smelly green ass out of the fire.
He was not worried.
Vista's Actions:
I don't know what a "Furious Charge" is, so how about a "Howling" charge instead?
Minor: -
Move: Line up for a charge...end turn in J20
Standard: Charge Wyrmpriest (K20) with Howling Strike vs AC 1d20+11 = 29HIT! for 12 damage
Skarr's Actions:
Minor: Mark the Dragonborn
Move: Line up for a charge...end turn in H18
Standard: Charge Dragonborn with a MBA vs AC 1d20+10 = 20HIT!! for 19 damage
I put Vista and Skarr into flanking positions on the Dragonborn. Does the flanking bonus apply even when both flankers are not engaging the same target? And its marked, so hopefully it does something silly so Skarr can whack it.
Dragonborn: HP 119, AC 16, Fort 18, Ref 16, Will 15

Looks good, except you didn't change the HP of the Wyrmpriest and dragonborn in the statblock.
Back from camping; very nice rolling Steel, though I do have a Challenge-Seeking Greatsword, which means Mr. Full-HP-Wyrmpriest gets an extra 5 damage and is at 19 hitpoints remaining 8-) . Also, is it too late for Vista to use her Minor and Warforged Resolve to get 9 Temp HP?

Korin follows the others into the melee, striking the apparently sentient crossbow fairly soundly. "Wow, this thing's fragile," He shouts as the blow hits, "Nothing compared to my my dad's work, right Vista?" Vista feels a bit bolstered by the complement.
Move to F16 Energizing Strike(Augment 0) vs. Arbalester- HIT! for 10 damage and Vista gains 5 temporary hit points.

I hate to be this way, but someone can someone who has a legit (see: reliable) internet connection take this for me? Im still in San Diego til tomorrow night. If not I can post the turn tomorrow night or Wed morning.
Swanky looks around the room, searching for the best course of action. He finally sprinted up the staircase, loosing a shuriken at the dragonborn who was still standing flatfooted.
