It's amazing to walk around at night, and you can see into and hear people talking in pretty much every house. It's great.
I despise this cheating system, though. 99% of the time you don't even get to the minigame, they just straight up spot you. I've blown off enough hands to build a fort out of them.

I been on my own since as far back as I can rememberin. No paw, No maw, I guess that's why I'm just no good around these here people. I don't mean em no harm, but I cause it rigirdless. One minute I'm askin a fella to spare some water, the next I'm in a shootout for mah life. Alla wanted was a little help, 'stead I'm watchin pieces of that mans head bang up against his steed as it goes runnin' wild. Never understood them people, probably never will. I'm an outlaw.*western music*
Anyone else having problems with their bonus code? Supposedly an email with my soundtrack link was sent 2-3 hours ago but I still haven't received an email and when trying to access the in game bonus I get an error trying to connect to rockstar's server.
I want a weird west expansion for this game. They nailed the sense of isolation that goes so well with horror. Imagine red dead as it is, but with supernatural stuff sprinkled in. A normal story and normal missions most of the time. Every once in a while they throw a curveball.
Like reports of missing cattle leading to a encounter with a t-rex. Going to a cave that is supposed to be a bandit hideout and hearing things within that bear no resemblance to bandit….perhaps a bit squishy. Riding alone at night in the rain and a flash of lighting illuminates something roughly man shaped but too big and wrong. Travelers going missing when passing a new town with their church of dagon that seems to be doing very very well.
This would be show up infrequently with normal missions so it would have a great impact. I want that game so bad I can taste it.

I hunt monsters because I need weapons. I need weapons because I hunt monsters.
Hey so.... how are you supposed to take a target alive? I'm on a bounty where I've shot a guy twice in the legs, but he just keeps getting up and running away. Even when I am two feet away pointing a gun at his head.
And I went up to him while he was on the floor, I didn't see any hog-tie prompt.
I was hunting deer when I saw 2 armed men chasing someone else. Naturally I stepped in to stop this unfairness.
Turns out they were lawmen chasing a criminal. Had to pay off a bounty on my head.
I almost did that same thing, only I saw the flash of their badges before I fired, so I turned around and shot the person they where chasing.

Ugh. I'm going to have to restart. Barely past the first few missions and my Honor is in the toilet. I can't aim for heck and I keep loosing honor for messing up missions.
Alright guys, I've been playing for a while and I think I've got the hang of things.
I'm going to start drinking whiskey now, hopefully a few of you will do the same and in the next hour or two we'll start up a free roam game and have some drunken wild west adventures. I'm thinking we ought to wrastle some pumas, maybe take out a gang or two.

EDIT: I'd started with the whiskey when I made that post... XBL tag is the same as my forum name, it's in my signature spoiler. I'm also on the metatag.

Man, I really need to have the right weapon selected. I was trying to save a hooker from a man knifing her. Who knew that a rifle will not only shoot the man, but the woman beneath him. Oppsie.

I have the special edition, in my hand, Deadly Assasin suit, an awsome map, a colorful manual, and a disk yet to be touched by my 360...Until now! WOOOOOOOH!
Jumped in the game a few hours, and I can say it satisfies my expectations. The story was a little hard to get into at first, but after a few "Woman" Missions, I got into it. The multiplayer is a bit glitchy, but I like the XP sytem. The first random event I've gotten in was a duel in Armadillo. It was pretty easy for me to learn, and I wondered if duels are too easy. But then I though, "Tougher duelists probaly mark you on the right targets better then lower duelists". All in all, its a fantastic game. (Also, if I have said anything that goes in a spoiler section, I'm sorry.)
So far I've been too slow on all of the random events. I saw a guy get mauled by coyotes out in the wild cause I was only able to kill two of them before he died (out of 4).
Another time I saw a hooker getting stabbed. I hesitated cause I was deciding what weapon to use and she died while I was playing with my weapon wheel.
I also failed to stop a hanging at Hangman's Rock because I missed the tutorial pop-up in the corner that told me to shoot the rope. I only learned that I was supposed to do this after the fact when I was reviewing my journal in the pause screen.

What, did you accidentally shoot the hanging man in the head, 'Quick & the Dead' style?
I'm pretty much going to impulse buy this. someone say something to tip me over the edge
In multiplayer, you can pile four players in the back of a stage coach, have two up front, and tear across the country side. Riding that fucking beast through a town full of other players is a blast. I can't wait to unlock fire bottles so I can throw those out the window too.

eh sounds like multi done right for crackdown/saints row 2/gta
Loving this game. I also love this Duster that I got.
But I have a question for those who have the game and have played for about 4 hours into the game. I apologize for the vagueness of that requirement, but with it's hard to come up with a benchmark for progress with open world games.
So I went to Thieves Landing and was liking the area. Then out of nowhere, people start shooting at me. I ended up in an extended firefight that ended in about 15-20 dead. I lost no honor points, and did not get in trouble with the law. I just got the hell out of Dodge.
The second time I visited there, I did business with both the tailor and general store owner without issue, then it happened again. Same outcome that time too.
Any ideas as to the cause? I have a pretty high Honor score and am wearing clothing that seems to get Marston warm greetings from everybody. What is causing these random people to want to fill me with lead?
Having trouble downloading my Assassins outfit... keeps saying it can't connect to the Rockstar server (even though I'm online just fine and able to play multlpayer w/o a hiccup.
I have PS3 if that makes a difference.

Stupid UPS guy showing up an hour AFTER I got home from work. That's an hour I could have spent roaming the countryside and killing bandits. :x

GIve it a day or two. You don't get to wear the outfit until you complete the challenges for it anyway, so you likely won't bother with it for a bit if you do get the code entered.

Holy fuck, this game is awesome.
The following events took place within the span of literally less than three full seconds...
I was riding my horse back from doing a mission, going basically full-bore down Main Street in Armadillo when I saw the blue "random event" circle pop up on my mini-map. I looked up and saw a knife-wielding drunk chasing a whore out of the saloon. I whipped out my lasso with the quickness, aimed, and threw. Within a blink of an eye, I hit "Y" to dismount and I had the fucker hog-tied before he knew what hit him.

Can you turn in normal criminals (not just guys from bounty posters) to the local jail? For instance, I had a random encounter where a lady was being kidnapped. If I shot the kidnapper in the leg, lasso'd him, and brought him back to town, will I get paid?

Every post where I see the words "I had a random encounter where.." or "I was riding along when..." I just skip the rest of the post. There is a finite amount of random encounters in this game, and I don't want to read about all of them here before I experience them.
I can't seem to get into the single player very much. It's not that it isn't fantastic, but I'm just always wanting to posse up and ride out.

You might've killed some folks you shouldn't have, members of the Waltons of Bollard gang for instance. They don't really explain whats going on, but by that time you should have put a few bad dudes down. Of course I've only happened across that once, but my honor is pretty much in the gutter (having a crime spree of 100 or so lawmen dead and a 8000 dollar bounty will do that).

I don't think you have to bring him back to town.
I think bounties are the only quests where you straight-up get extra cash if you leave them alive. Random encounters though, pretty sure you get the regular amount of cash no matter how you handle it.
I believe the only benefit to leaving the target alive in non-bounty quests is that you get honor points for not killing them.
I'm not phrasing this as well as I'd like to, but I think it gets the point across.
